My order: -Japanese Style Cheesesteak: my personal favourite - juicy sautéed mushrooms & onions, aged cheddar, wasabi mayo and of course premium ribeye steak slices. It's saucy, and the cheese blend enhances the flavour. -Koagie (Korean Hoagie): Kimchi was good (not too sour or spicy), so I could comfortably eat it. -New Yorker: the classic if you don't want to venture away from a "normal Philly cheesesteak" - topped with fresh tomatoes and lettuce Overall, the hoagie roll was soft on the inside, and a good chewy texture on the outside. I reheated mines in the microwave, and it still tasted good several hours later. These cheeseteaks are more saucy than the traditional cheesesteaks, which I personally enjoyed as every bite was filled with flavour. Very filling - best to share if you want to try different flavours. I also really liked their assortment of cheeses (no fake Cheez-Whiz stuff, sorry if you like that though), I think they use aged cheddar, provolone, and some others in a cheese blend. They definitely don't cheap out, and use a generous portion of tender/sliced prime rib steak. All cheesesteaks are made-to-order on a grill when you place your order. -Onion Rings: skinny-style -Deep Fried Pickles: good thick cut of pickles to breading ratio -ACC Fries (Garlic Butter & Parmesan): classic thick cut fries with a very "potato-y" flavour -White Chocolate Blueberry Milkshake: quite sweet, definitely for people that have a sweet tooth Also, I definitely have to mention the house-made sauces, they're so good for dipping the onion rings, pickles, and fries (cheesesteaks were saucy enough, so I didn't need it there). Located beside Hell Crust (former Fresh Slice) underneath Cineplex in Metrotown. Plenty of parking as it is inside the mall - has about 5 tables from what I can recall. You can hear the music from the mall , however i don't believe they had any of their own tunes playing. You can easily have a conversation here. However, because of the small seating/eating area, you will sometimes have other customers staring you down to leave so they can take your table. It's a busy mall I get it, but please don't be the person staring others down. Service was okay, nothing special, they greet you and you order , followed by waiting for them to call your order number. Ordered the Cowboy - with the fries and drink add on to make it a combo - and found it to be on the pricier end of things. After taxes and "Tip" it was nearly $25. Some may say that is average , it's in the mall , rising costs and such, which I understand. But I just didn't feel like the portion or quality measured up. Fries were okay , tasted like Kirkland Costco fries - nice crisp - however seasoned poorly as some pieces were way to salty , while others just tasted like a plain potato. The cowboy mentioned crispy onions - did not taste any of that - Spicy BBQ sauce was on the sweeter side. - the bun was pretty dry - and the fillings were lifted , and wasn't actually enough to fill the entire sandwich. Can of mountain dew - well it was a canned drink so it was fine. As there is tons of other food options in the mall - i will unlikely visit this one again. We came before a movie, just something quick and easy and the Viet sub was tasty and filling. The seating area is very small, but we got a table and waited for our meals. The loss of star was simply because we both agreed that the meat needed to be cut a bit more. It was one huge long piece and hard/messy to eat. The staff is very friendly and tries to accommodate a lot of people very quickly. I didn't know there was an American Cheesesteak at Metrotown. We were shopping on Black Friday and were exhausted and hungry. We suddenly saw the giant TV screens (showing their meaty sandwiches with sauces coming out) at The American Cheesesteak. Its like seeing an Angel suddenly popup. Yes no kidding. We ordered the Frenchie and New Yorker. One with fries and the other with onion rings. I have to say both sandwiches were delicious. Lots of sauce and meat.Love their onion rings. All freshly made in front of you. The owner is very friendly. He even asked us how it taste. The American Cheesesteak is not located in the food court. Its hidden inside Metropolis below the Cinplex. However, the Asian young male server who stood behind the counter on the other side just moved his head and glanced at us, and then he looked the other way. He did not come over to serve us. When going to see a movie at metrotown I always go to american cheesesteak beforehand. It's super close to the theater and I have never had a bad experience here. One of my favorites is the frenchie. It comes with sauteed onions, brie cheese, dijon mayo, balsamic reduction and arugula. A different approach to a traditional cheesesteak. It is seriously tasty and is worth a try if you are feeling a little adventurous. $13 a sandwich it is a bit on the pricer side. However the sandwich is huge and left me more then full. I almost had trouble finishing it..... almost. Every time I have visited, the service has always been super friendly. For good food and service I will come back again and again. The only minor downside is the seating, it is a bit limited. Only a few tables and chairs. Other then the limited seating this place is great! I was basically gonna grab dinner with one of my classmates from school when suddenly he decided to bring the future Mrs. So we decided that we would head to American Cheesesteak Co over this place because I know for a fact that these sandwiches would be so filling that if they ordered a meal for that, they would be having a midnight snack of fries and a coke it was that filling. I ordered the classic because there is nothing like having the original.There was lots of beef and it was covered onions and provolone cheese. They enjoyed their sandwiches as it was literally loaded with so much food that they realized it was such a steal for the price. Roughly 4 oz of beef with about 2 oz of provolone and about twelve mushrooms at a 1/8th slice. The mushrooms and onions were not noticeable. The baguette was good but the beef was just bleh. Service was very friendly. The poutine was tasty albeit a bit on the heavy side (but when is poutine ever NOT on the heavy side?). Fries were crispy with just enough seasoning and relatively thick too. They looked and tasted like freshly cut. Pretty good...meat is tender, lots of onions, cheese & mushrooms. Buns are so perfect and soft. I ordered the mini classic combo with fries. The "mini" is not so mini. It's the size of a regular sandwich while the regular is huge! For $8 the mini & fries is a great deal for what you get. Full disclosure: I am close friends with one of the employees. The American Cheesesteak operates very similarly to Fatburger. It is one of those "not a restaurant but not fast food" places that people either love or hate. There are multiple types of cheese steaks on the menu as well as a large selection of ice cream/milkshakes. The main issue people will have is the cost of the sandwiches however the sandwich is loaded with whatever ingredients you chose to put in. My personal favorite is The Cowboy which has bbq sauce & is loaded with crispy onion straws. The American Cheesesteak gets 5 stars from me for the sole reason that I cannot think of a single place in Burnaby/Vancouver that comes close to the sandwich you will be getting here. I've been coming here since they opened up. Got to say it became one of my favourite places in metrotown pretty quickly. Their sandwiches are filling and delicious. I usually get classic or egg and steak. The people there are very friendly which makes the place more attractive. The gorgeous Asian girl at the cashier once gave me a 10% discount for going there 3 days in a row. The owner even offered me more fries for free when he saw me eating the small bits of my plate. I am surprised by the lack of reviews for this place. Just found out about this place recently and I probably will come back there soon again. It's actually pretty good, food quality is completely on a different level than most of the Metrotown food court restaurants. So far, I tried traditional Philly Cheesesteak and Monster Poutine, both were very delicious. Beef practically melts in your mouth, it's very soft and delicate, amount of cheese is also just right. My advice is if you find yourself hungry in Metrotown, try this place instead of going to the foodcourt, you might just find what you looking for. The first time we just went for regular cheesesteaks... second time I went for one that a co-worker ALWAYS (and I mean ALWAYS) gets... wife, she tried the bulgogi/kimchi one. Mine was the Cowboy... it was ok, but just overwhelmingly tasted of bbq sauce. The wife's was just spectacular! Such an awesome sandwich! If in the mall, and hungry... I used to get a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich here whenever I went to Metrotown, but the owners changed their bun since the last time I visited, and it's just awful. They used to use a high quality bun that was supplied by Cobs Bakery which was lightly oiled on the outside, with a light crisp crust, and with a good soft texture on the inside. Now they've replaced their bun with what seems to be a cheap generic hot dog bun which they probably got from Costco or something. It's tasteless, too dense and crumbly, and the cheap white bread flour just overtakes the meat and cheese. You can't even taste what you're eating. They posted up a really bad quality 8X11 notice announcing their bun change, which looks like it was printed on a used newspaper, then photocopied. I kind of got a vibe that they've changed ownership of the franchise. There were other homemade looking signs saying that they were selling other things not related to cheesesteaks. With the 10 minute wait per sandwich, high prices and the bad bun, I won't be coming back here till they change their bun back. read more
