Stay away - I quickly found out this was a dispatch center. Things seem to go well, deadbolts and doorknobs replaced at $100 each. Then garage door frame shattered when he attempted to put hole in for deadbolt. Never told me. I found it with a piece of splintered wood screwed back in. Doorknobs are pieces of crap. Stay away from this company. They purposely told me $80-120 for a key fob to be programmed to my car. When the locksmith arrived he told me that the key i had wouldn't work correctly and i needed to buy a new key for a total of $250. They should have asked me more qualifying questions on the phone before giving me the low price. I agreed to go with the 250 since the locksmith was already on site and i needed a key fob badly. He programmed the new key and it worked fine. I went to go use my remote car starter a few days later and that key wouldn't work any longer. I called up and they said they could fix it and would be here on 6/9 from 2-4PM. No call, now show. I called the following day on 6/10 to be told that they will set up another appointment. An hour later i got a call that the remote car starter had to be taken back to the original place that did that key in order for it to work. He told me i should have told him that i had an after market car starter. I told him that they should have asked these questions before breaking my key. I asked for some type of refund and was told no. These people are far from experts and do not know how to follow up and fix the problems they have created. read more

Needed a locksmith in a pinch this morning and was able to call Mr. T's Lock & Key to get someone sent out to my house in less than an hour. The gentleman who showed up was able to unlock our door in less than 20 minutes and was very accommodating to our needs. read more

STAY AWAY, I promise you want nothing to do with this company. I needed a new key for my 2024 toyota corolla. the technician came and programmed a key that does not lock or unlock my car. It just starts it. He claimed the issue should resolve itself and the car would "start to understand the new key" over some time which in no world makes sense. This service was a $685 Venmo transaction. Anyways over a week passed with me not being able to lock my car anywhere I go. After this experience I leave a bad review. The owner then calls me and tells me he will refund me $150 if i remove the review. i eventually did- after we talked about the technician coming back to program a new key that would work. Today, the technician said he would be here at 3:30pm and it is now 10:00pm. I sent multiple texts to him wondering what was happening. "on my way", "be there soon boss". I eventually told him to forget it and I'll now be filing a detailed complaint through the Better Business Bureau. I have never dealt with such an untrustworthy and unprofessional group of people. read more

My daughter locked her keys in her car, we called several locks smiths to help and Mr. T's was one that answered and said they would be able to take the job. There seemed to be an answering services over a personal company , and they took my info and said someone would reach back out to make the appt to come out. They called within 10 mins, took about a half hour to get there (which was great, I was glad they were able to get out in a short amount of time, but when the guy arrived in a Toyota Prius looking vehicle and he seemed unprepared about the cost and said he would have to price it out, then came back with a $340 charge, I was a little surprised/ shocked that's what he wanted to charge. Perhaps if my husband was there he wouldn't have started so High. Seemed extremely high for a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. It was like he just made numbers up on the spot based on where we lived..... Then he said he'd call his boss to see if they could lower it, they lowered it apparently 13% which was over text..... I don't even think he texted his boss.... I think he just changed the numbers. When agreed to the cost, he then proceeded the open the car for us and when he was done I ha de shim a credit card and he told me he then had to charge me a 5% service fee....... And was annoyed because he just took 13% percent off and then wanted to charge me a 5% credit card fee..... he said he'd call could follow me to an atm to pay him cash to Avoid the fee. That's when I got sketched out and literally just wanted this man to leave. It's illegal for him to chafe a service fee for credit card transactions in MA. But I decided instead of arguing with him, I would drive to the gas station and use the atm there where I knew people would be around. I need to have a lock changed on a mailbox. I broke a key in the lock cylinder. They did answer the phone and get right back to setup and appointment. So this like calling a dispatch center. You are not talking to person who will be coming out. I called on Friday afternoon. I setup an appointment for a Monday. I was charged for urgency call. I was charged fee for breaking into mailbox Told they had to break-in. I was having the lock replaced anyway. The cost was overpriced and the lock failed with in a day. The man who came to fix the lock on our door was extremely rude and unprofessional and left without fixing our lock properly. The company installed a non-commercial bathroom door knob on my commercial entry door, despite requiring a Grade 2 stainless steel lock. They arrived late, used two associates to distract me, and demanded extra payment to complete the job properly. Prices were inflated arbitrarily, and the hardware was installed upside down, showcasing unprofessionalism. They are untrustworthy and use a fake customer service line to redirect complaints. Most local places have emergency hours, check their websites before calling this place. Again use this company as an absolute LAST resort. We had a handle that was locked (not even the deadbolt). When he arrived he asked "did they give you a price for this?" We said no, and he immediately says $275, cash. He looked at another door but told us that one would cost more. Who has that much cash on them? He then said he would take a card but for $240 as it seems he was looking to pocket some money here. Also why would another door cost more? Lesson learned and will always keep an extra key somewhere. I called for an estimate to have 2 locks rekeyed, sent photos, and was given a quote of $65/ea ($130). when I called to book them I was informed of $45 service fee & additional $15 for 3 extra keys ($190). Technician arrived 45 minutes late and demanded $205. I called the next day to question price change and request an itemized receipt. Spoke to Steve who apologized and said he'd reimburse me $15 and send a receipt. He asked for my Venmo info & email. Never received the $15 or receipt! Beware of dishonest business practices. If I received the correct information with my initial phone call to them I would have simply moved on. Paid $135 last year for same service, all inclusive. Prior to Covid price was $110. Also, company identified themselves as Salem Lock & Key when they returned my initial call to them leading me to believe that they were located in my neighborhood when in fact they are in Providence, RI, over a 2 hr drive away. Not a good sign, when you call in and are told a response, 10 minutes away. It's now 12:55pm and I had to call back to get an update. My key was not available and it would be at 2:00pm instead. With a take it to leave it at attitude. Doesn't show like they cared for making me wait or the lack of follow up. Way cheaper than the competition. But not sure if it's worth it at this point. The response I received was I'm sorry English is not my first language. That's such a horrible excuse to have, with smart phone in todays age. The tech Danny arrives with his trainee, at 3:00pm. Tells me he has to plug in to get the price. After plugging in, he tells me will be $250 plus another $80 to get the needed software. After I complained about what I was quoted and how I asked for price before anyone should come out. He said it's not my money I'll call the boss. Spoke in Hebrew and said my boss said ok, we will do for $300. Negotiating prices after you make an agreement sounds like a scam. After 25 minutes, they completed the job. He tells me to cut the key, will be another $115. I was very specific when calling in about, what I was looking for and the cost. After passing on it, give him my card for payment. Then tells me tax would be on top of that. Basically at the price he wanted to charge me originally. Total came to $321, to top it off. He tells me he works hourly and gives me an option for a 15%-25% tip. The job was done, but as in other reviews. This should be your last resort. I called the number in Florida (754) 457-5431 because I wanted a second Key fob for my Mini Cooper. I was called by one of Mr. T's Lock & Key subcontractor's a company called "Locksmith Solutions LLC". Adi could not do the work I was told he had the wrong module connector for my car. He talked to his boss (all in Israeli) and I couldn't understand a word. Adi Said his boss would send someone the next day with the right part to read my module. Another so-called locksmith showed up the next day and removed the module and plugged it into his computer. He said he couldn't read the module and replaced it. After that the car which worked prior to him removing the module will not start! He called his boss again and claimed he did nothing to cause the problem. His boss had another locksmith from RI call me and he said he'd show up and see what the problem was. He lied and never showed up! He ghosted me the next day. Please DO NOT use these hacks. Rude Management, Unprofessional and Overpriced. Avoid. I deal with contractors often in my line of work and do not recommend this place. I needed a lock removed and although I have the equipment to remove it myself the new policy of the storage unit facility I rent from will only permit licensed lock smiths for the job. They charged me $210.00 for 5 minutes of work on a lock that cost $19.99 from Home Depot. I understand that this is a business but this is a bit much and I their estimates are fare from the final fee at the end of the job. Furthermore, the person they sent was unprofessional. I know how to use these tools safely and this person did not warn anyone or ask them to back up a safe distance when he put on his safety gargles and went to work. Fortunately, no bystanders got shards of hot metal in their eye but this would have been a clear lawsuit for the company. The individual did not even bother to clean up his mess and for the price I'm paying I expect professional services wouldn't you? This company preys on the ignorance of their customers, is ambiguous about cost until the job is done and charges rates above market value for their services. Do yourself a favor and scroll further down Google and find a place that offers better services then this business. After reading this review the manger of the company showed his true character and called me demanding that I take the review down using insulting vulgar language and threated me. Stay AWAY from this company at all costs. They charged $536 to unlock my car and make a new key for me. I have an older car (2012 elantra) and the man I spoked to on the phone initially told me it would probably be around $130 because it's an older car and it was a simple key. The locksmith who I was supposed to meet with at our agreed time (4:30 pm) finally showed up at 5:25 pm. He called me and said he'd be there "really soon." That was at 4:41. He was not upfront about the charges and couldn't even give me an estimate before working on my car. It wasn't until after he unlocked my car, made a new key, and programmed it that I finally got all the information. Also, while he was working on my car, he went over to the car BESIDE my car twice, opened the stranger's driver's door and started doing stuff in their car. The reason the FIRST key he made didn't work was because he used it on a stranger's car. I called his manager that night (who continually talked over me and defended the technician) to discuss a partial refund. He blamed me and said I could have refused the charges. I told him I did not feel safe to refuse the charges in the moment. I'm a young woman who was in a parking lot behind a building by myself and it was getting dark. So I agreed for safety's sake. It has been over two weeks now and I am still trying to get a partial refund. They have stopped accepting my calls, and Mr. T'S Lock and key is no longer answering. The man I spoke to over the phone today said I was refunded $200 over a week ago (which is not what we agreed upon.) There is NO refund at all in my bank statements. Rude, slow, misleading, and dishonest. I was locked out of my apartment and the first technician to come out took twice as long to arrive as initially stated. He barely looked at the lock before proclaiming it un-pick-able and leaving. His manager called me a few minutes later stating he could pick it and would arrive in 30 minutes. An hour later he still had not arrived and when I called back, he said he would arrive in 10 minutes. It took another 20 before he showed up. After over 2 hours locked out and now running late for my dinner plans, he then tells me that he's going to charge me $45 just for showing up and another $250 to pick my lock. I wanted to support a local business. Too bad they take advantage of women... they came to the job right away. They wouldn't give me a price on the phone to install a smart lock until they came to check the door out. They started with 170- then the price end up to 300.00 and the locksmith kid left without finishing the job. He told my my door is the problem... he came up with many excuses. I called the following day and complained and they sent the same kid over. He doesn't know how to install a smart lock. A couple days later they sent someone else. I think people locking themselves out of their house isn't too common of an occurrence hence the high flat rate of $180 on weekends plus $45 to come out so they can make their money's worth and stay in business. I think a customer's desperation makes it feel like they are being taken advantage of a bit, but for 3 minutes of work it was a pretty penny just to get back inside our home. Hindsight is always 20 20 so I should have negotiated the price or seen If they had any new client coupons. I figured that was the general ballpark that all locksmiths charged so I allowed it plus we really had no choice but after looking at home advisor averages, mr. They did show up quickly and did do satisfactory work but that is where the good stuff ends. The latch on our bathroom door failed and it is rather old. About 1950. I was told that the visit was $45, which was actually less than I expected. The locksmith originally told me that he would have to install a new lock set which would not match any of the other locks all through the hallway. The others are all glass knobs. The whole new lock would be $240+! When I balked at that, he came up with the idea of removing the latch on the closet door of the bathroom. He did this in about 15 minutes and STILL charged the $240! For replacing a latch that was ALREADY IN THE HOUSE. Apparently, he got this $240 figure stuck in his head and forgot it would have been for a new lock set and would require drilling a new hole and all new hardware. I found this charge was more than excessive for a half hour of work and NO NEW MATERIALS! I wouldn't use these guys again and would discourage others from doing so. I gave the rating of two stars because the locksmith WAS able to free the door (with my assistance) in short order, but the pricing policies are beyond ridiculous. read more

The guys at Mr T's Lock and Key are fast, efficient, and work around your schedule. My children locked the garage key inside the garage. I messaged Mr T's through Yelp and within 5 mins they had responded. A rep had called me moments after to help me set up a time to come out. He came out the same night. My schedule was hectic, but they were able to come out to my home at 7PM at night. It literally took the guy 2 minutes to unlock the garage for us. Quick service was the only benefit. We were charged $350 to unlock one very standard door lock (no deadbolt, cheap lock) and he broke chunks of wood off of the doorframe. Didn't give us pricing until after the job. That's OUTRAGEOUS. Called to ask about pricing after the fact and he said we must have had "a great lock" which we do not and "it could have costed up to $700, seems like you got a fair price". What a fricken scam. Avoid these guys. I used them on multiple occasions for my business and was charged about $900 on a couple occasions to replace missing keys for vehicles. It's difficult to program keys for vehicles and the equipment involved is expensive. However, the 1000% mark up on the $50 key fobs is straight robbery. I recently locked myself out of my condo and regrettably called these guys. I figured I was going to be out $150 or so but when the tech showed up, he wanted $250 for some reason and $65 for another. I thought they had to cut a key and use equipment, so I agreed. He popped my door open with an inflatable wedge within seconds. I was very upset with the fee when it was that simple and asked to speak with a manager. The manager only purposely escalated my frustration; however, he did reduce the price to $180. I gave the tech the $140 in cash I had and told him I had to run to the ATM for the other $40. I wasn't going to give these crooks a card. I was less than 5 minutes, but the tech left. I called the company, but he told me to keep the money and to go "f" myself. The company must have given the tech my number because he called me to let me know that I could suck his d*** multiple times and that him and his friends from Miami are going to f me up. I told him to come get his $40 and he could share his feelings to my face, but he declined. I documented the incident with the police as I'm worried about them knowing my address and if something were to happen to my property if I wasn't around. Please take heed to my review and look how similar it is to other reviews. Especially as someone who has used this company on a few occasions and has literally a couple thousand dollars on the service they provide. They take advantage of people in desperate situations. We purchased a new code lock and decided to help support a local small business. What a nightmare! Should have just stuck with Best Buy for the install. Once we modified the door, the gentleman came to install/set it up. He was unable to properly install it, $300 and we couldn't even close the battery cover on the lock. It seemed the gentleman was overwhelmed, and more concerned about leaving. He had no problem walking away with our money however. We had to run after him and tell him IT STILL WAS NOT WORKING. I just had four locks replaced in the 1940's bungalow I purchased that had the original front door locks. So I called Mr. T's after reading the reviews. All I'll say is that the measure of a locksmithing business isn't limited to the installation of a quality lock. It also involves how the customer is treated after s/he spends $530 and is upset when she's unable to open the front door the next day. Though I am a business owner myself, I am not one who believes that "The customer is always right." However I do believe that it matters how they're treated. It is not okay to berate the customer when they ask for an invoice that includes a labor/parts breakdown so that they understand the charge. And if Ben, the nice, polite technician who had replaced the locks that day had just taken the time to demonstrate how they operate before leaving the premises, a series of unacceptable interactions with other not-so-nice individuals at the company -- one of whom proclaimed, "I've never had a customer like you. You're the worst customer I've had in 12 years. Yup, that's right. Worst. All you do is complain!" -- could have been avoided. Though the company came through as promised this morning and resolved the front door issue, I never did receive an apology for the rude treatment. Thus I won't be using them again. read more
