Mr Thanh has done two jobs for me. The first job was a pair of boy jeans, which he did perfect. But it's hard to screw up jean material. All you needed to do is Hemet. The second project was sweater like material and it was a pair of ladies dress slacks. He made them completely too short. I had to go back and buy another pair and had them tailored somewhere else. Total cost of the second item pants $40 tailoring $20. I'm going to say if you have a pair of jeans he can do that no problem but I wouldn't trust him on sweater material. Or polyester. read more

Had two suits altered here and they did amazing both times! They have a quick turn around time and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy. My second suit had a little too much fabric let out in the waist but they fixed it right away the same day. I ran to the grocery store and it was ready when I stopped back at the store. Everyone who works here is extremely friendly and I think their prices were reasonable for the quality and amount of work they do. I'll definitely keep using Mr Thanh in the future! read more

I've used Mr Thanh on multiple occasions and always been SO pleased with his work. Most recently I had a 5 inch hole in my winter coat, and I cannot seem to tell which pocket it was on because of his clean and seamless tailor work! Not to mention he tailored it in under 24 hours. After reading a few reviews (and there aren't many reviews of ANY tailor shop in Grand Rapids), I decided to give this place a try. Be aware: the place is basic. No frills, e.g. a worn, carpeted box to stand on, while being measured. But -- don't let throw you off. If you are here for tailoring, relax, they've got you covered. I have been to this place three times. They have tailored three pairs of pants, one sport jacket, and then -- because they do such a good job, I had them tailor my brand new Zegna suit ($$$). All GREAT outcomes. They are good at what they do. The only real challenge is that the three women that work at this place are from Vietnam (?) and, while friendly, have to rely on a sort of broken-English to communicate. I am new to the Grand Rapids area, and selected this shop because I live nearby. I am happy to say Mr Thanh far exceeded any of my expectations. I brought in 7 items to be altered or fixed and despite giving me an estimated time of 8 days, he completed them all in just 2!!! Fair pricing and such a nice man. If I could give this place a zero, I wouldn't hesitate. It is an unclean place. The 2ladies that work there are very pushy and only accept cash as a form of payment, which can be inconvenient. I gave them a brand new dress to alter & came back with a coffee stain on it. I will never go to this store again. read more

Mr. Thanh's Tailor shop, which is now ran by his daughter, has the most amazing attention to detail. I dropped off a custom suit jacket that was a little big in the arms and a little long on one hand. When I got it back..within 3 days (which was earlier than expected), I tried on the suit coat at it was perfect!! read more

I had a small rip in my jeans and took them to Mr. Thanh Tailor Shop. The lady was pleasant but the quality of the repair was horrible. No thought has been placed in repairing the rip and it seems like a fly by night job. Sew threads are hanging out from all sides internally and externally. Excessive patch cloth was used inside and no attempt was made to cut off unnecessary bits. She has ruined my Burberry Jeans! I have never had a tailor do a more poor and shoddy job. read more

Brought a shirt to shorten sleeves, as well as had jeans patched. Overall solid work.

Don't be misled by the look of the shop from the curb. It is tiny, unassuming and in need of a little attention. But the attention inside is excellent! Friendly, efficient and great quality. Usually pretty fast (by alteration standards - try any other good tailoer in GR). Overall a very good tailor with freindly, quality service! read more

I brought in a jacket to be altered, was quickly measured, and sure enough, a week later, I had a perfectly tailored garment for 15 dollars. The only way this business could be better if there was unicorns and/or they accepted credit cards. read more
