Shortened a pair of ladies knit pants for my mother and the finished product looked like it had come from a store. Also reworked a blouse that she had fallen in love with but the sleeves were too long and wide. They were tapered perfectly and shortened to 3/4 length per my mother's instruction. The amazing thing is that my mother couldn't get to the shop for a fitting, so I pinned up one leg of the pants to the right length and took along another shirt that had the sleeve style she wanted and that fit her well. They were able to do the rest. And while they were at it, they also re-sewed the hem on the shirt that I took in for comparison. A little pricey but an absolutely professional job with beautiful stitching. read more

This was my first experience with a tailor, I took in two pairs of jeans to have them tapered and I got exactly what I asked for. The policy at And Sew On is to pay upfront, which I'm not sure how they determine the price of service before its done but it was just over $30 for both pants -- seems reasonable to me. Everyone at the shop was very nice and they double and triple-checked that I liked what I saw when I tried on the pants after picking them up (a few days later, maybe a week or so -- I didn't need them within a certain time frame). I'm so pleased with how my jeans turned out -- I'm taking another pair back TODAY. read more

I had bought a wedding dress from an Etsy seller, thinking I wanted an ankle length dress for my wedding. I realized I was very wrong, as our wedding was on location and would require climbing over large rocks and hiking on paths full of roots and weeds to trip over. (Also, I'm short and long dresses make me look even more stubby LOL). So, I brought my dress to And Sew On and requested that she take the bottom tier of the dress and attach it under the middle tier, creating pretty, twirly, layers. I also asked her to trim down the sleeves as they were super fluffy and bulky looking. She did an amazing job and I was so happy to have my perfect, boho, wedding dress! I added a petticoat under it to fill out the skirt a bit more and the whole look was exactly what I'd wanted. The pricing was fair and she had it done in just a couple days! Brought 3 pairs of jeans, one pair they used a color thread too dark on the pockets, another pair they used a fabric that's very itchy on the crotch by sewing on the fabric and not on the borders, the third pair is fine and had already been worked on by a different seamstress before. All three jeans for 30 dollars but I will not be going back; very disappointed as those were very expensive jeans. read more

i own a vintage clothing store and i know a lot about clothing but have yet to master a sewing machine- so here we are. i brought in a shirt that needed a simple piece of elastic to be replaced. it came back and there was 0 stretch to my new "elastic" i asked for it to be sent back and replaced. i then returned and noticed there was still no stretch and it was the wrong type of elastic- i even tried it on to prove it. because this was their "final" attempt in their words. i would again have to pay $35 for the type of elastic i had been asking for in the first place or he said 'you could LOSE WEIGHT so it would fit'. he literally told me to LOSE WEIGHT and then laughed. never again with this place. oh and they messed up a fur coat but i won't even get into that. read more

I purchased my wedding gown online because I couldn't find what I wanted at any bridal salon. I ended up purchasing a ball gown that was nice looking, but was 3 sizes too big on me and wasn't a tea-length gown like I've always dreamed of wearing. I paid $180 to have a dress bustled and hemmed. They tried to charge me more once they had already begun the process. Despite several fittings, the dress was still too long. Not sure what they were doing the whole time. Bustle hooks immediately broke and I carried my train all night. $180 for nothing. Even had the owner working on the dress. read more

I took a suit jacket to be altered there and wow I was impressed! I was originally charged $35 for the alterations, which was about what I expected. Only to get a call 15 minutes later telling me that it will only cost $25 and I will get 10 dollars back when I pick up the jacket. Unbelievably honest! It baffles me on how polar opposite the reviews for this place are. I assume my issues all derive from the woman who I dealt with at the front counter. I came in for a simple zipper repair. She told me I must pay up front, then when I returned to pick up, I was charged and additional amount that I feel, in total, was an overcharge. I attempted to simply ask her how she came to that total, and she began yelling about having to replace it, and finally threw my garments at me. The woman has no customer service skills, and I left feeling belittled and degraded. Later I found out her poor attitude is no secret.
