Quite a long time ago, this place did a excellent job, spent a lot of time but our "classic tub" came out looking beautiful and it lasted except for a few spots that now need touchup....unfortunately i think the business went out, as none of the numbers or website address works anymore.....too bad...probably another Covid victum, but I don't really know, so this review is essentially useless. read more

Seven years ago, Mr. Ugly painted our tub white from a tan color. Since that initial service, they've had to come back twice to repair peeling areas. The tub looked dull and grainy; almost had an orange-peel look in areas. This last visit, they charged almost $500 to repair the numerous bare areas that they created in previous attempts! Don't waste your time calling this company, in the long run, it'll be cheaper and much less aggravating if you simply replace your fixtures! read more

After having my tub reglazed by Mr. Ugly, it looks great but it is gritty and unpleasant to stand or sit in. I had him come out again to correct the problem. He did not smooth out the whole thing. He seems to have only smoothed out patches. I scheduled another appointment today. No show! And no one is answering the phone. I believe they have been bought out and I can't find the names of the new company. read more

The thought process here is good. You get your old pink or gray or yellow tub and tile glazed to be a new, modern and acceptable bathroom color like white or taupe. It's a great concept so that you don't have to spend thousands redoing your bathroom because of bad color choices. Unfortunately, it doesn't really work that way. Three years ago I got my bathroom done by Mr. Ugly. It looked awesome after they did it. With a 5 year warranty, they fixed any cracks or peels anytime we called. Over a two year period, this happened twice. Each fix was just OK; it could have been done better or with more care and precision but it was acceptable. Three years later, the tub had a huge peel in it and they came to repair it. The guy who did it, Martin, demolished my bathroom beyond belief. He got paint on the floors in the bathroom, as well as our hardwood floors in the hallway; as well as on the fixtures, vanity and walls, requiring my husband to repainting the whole bathroom. And the job he did was awful, requiring someone else to fix his work. Sadly, that guy couldn't do anything so they had to send another person out and told him it was just a scratch that needed to be fixed. Finally, they sent the general manager out who screwed up my bathroom even more. He promised it would look "good as new," even better than that. Instead, it was a shit show. The one place that didn't need fixing, behind the toilet, he ruined. Ended up needing him to come back again to fix it and even then, it was shotty at best. In the long run, the amount of money I paid (about $1200 for the reglazing of a large full bath and tub) was not worth the hassle and time that we had to deal with. The staff in the office doesn't communicate with their onsite workers. The work isn't doesn't with care; it's rushed and sloppy. The imperfections are ones that probably we only notice but if we could do it again, I'd pay the money to retile my bathroom to avoid the experience I had with these guys. read more

One star only because I couldn't choose zero. This is a long story that's been made as short as possible. I no longer wanted to deal with ugly grout in my shower stall and I didn't want to pay thousands to have it retiled. The size is odd so the shower kits from Lowes and Home Depot wouldn't fit. I called and spoke to the owner of Mr Ugly, Cliff. I was promised my shower stall with ceramic tile would be cleaned, minor grout spots fixed and then sprayed with a 5 year warranty. 6 trips later (1 from a tile guy they recommended and 5 trips from 2 of their employees) and the shower is still not right. I've been cursed at, talked down to and disrespected. Use them if you're a glutton for punishment and want to throw close to $1000 away! read more

Hiring Mr. Ugly was ALMOST a disaster...but luckily, crisis averted and am VERY well pleased with the result! Our plumber recommended calling Mr. Ugly to repair/reglaze our almost 100 yr old clawfoot tub. They sent Anthony out to do the job. He spend approximately 2 hours working on the tub, then had to leave to get to his next appointment. He said his boss would call to schedule another appointment to finish the job. He left the tub with a HUGE bubbled crease, claiming it would settle as it dried (it did not). The powder they use to create a non slip surface on the bottom of the tub was EVERYWHERE - the toilet, the sink, the floor; it was as if he had just tossed it all over the room. There were brush strokes and drip marks all over the rim of the tub. My husband and I lived with it for a few days, then pretty much decided to just get another company in to fix the cluster Mr. Ugly had created. Enter Martin. Mr. Ugly sent Martin out to finish the reglazing. Martin had no clue his company had started the job and immediately said he could fix the bad repair. He stripped the tub down, undoing everything Anthony had started. Six hours later, the tub looked INCREDIBLE!!! Martin was even able to remove the powder coating that had adhered to every surface in the room! To be fair, Mr. Ugly most likely does more reglazing of modern bathroom tubs/tile. I was not expecting miracles - the previous owner of our home had nearly ruined the tub with harsh chemicals/abrasive cleaning tools. To look at the tub now, we can barely tell that it is not brand new off a showroom floor. I am beyond pleased. If you hire Mr. Ugly, request Martin!!! read more

I had my tub reglazed by them. The young man who did the work had the personality of a door knob and left a bunch of dirty marks on my brand new carpet, from where the machine sat just outside of the bathroom. I sent an email to the office with a picture and a suggestion that he use a tarp or something under the machine to prevent this from happening to other customers, with a photo of the dirty carpet. That was four days ago and I've received no response from them. After spending over $500 for about an hour and half's worth of work, now I've got to scrub my carpet and hope the dirt stains come out. Twice, I used Resolve carpet cleaner and let it dry, then vacuumed before I was able to get it clean. It's clear that they don't give a crap about customer service. Also, they could have advised me to take everything out of the bathroom (my toiletries and knick-knacks). I didn't realize that the process would leave a white dust all over everything, so I had to clean the bathroom and every little item that was in it! I'll use another vendor next time, for sure. P.S. I would like to attach the photo of the dirty carpet, but yelp isn't giving me that option. I've seen photos on other yelp reviews. What's up with that? read more

Their work is poor quality and their service is abysmal. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for refinishing services. It is a long story, but in short: we hired Mr. Ugly to refinish our wall tiles and bath tub. The quality was never good: they did not take the time to caulk holes in the tile, they missed some spots, there were drips, etc. The finish held up for exactly two weeks and then started to bubble and crack. Mr. Ugly returned three times over the next few months; each time, they just painted right over the problem and each time, the finish bubbled and cracked. It was extremely upsetting to bathe my toddler in the tub and have him handing me pieces of paint that peeled off. Ultimately, Mr. Ugly provided shoddy work and failed to honor its warranty (the paper provided at the time of refinishing says 3 year warranty, but over the phone, I was told one year). We paid another company to fix Mr. Ugly's work - the cost was the same, but this company spent significantly more time and care on the project. With this review, I hope to save you the time and money Mr. Ugly cost me. read more

I would not call this company. Anthony came in and did a terrible job on my cast iron tub leaving brush strokes and drip marks visible. Brian came back 3 days later to "fix" it and the it isn't much better. There is hair stuck under the glaze, paint strokes still visible, not even covered around the faucet, and glaze puddled in parts of the bottom. Not worth the money! read more

Mr. Ugly did a horrible job of reglazing my shower stall. They had to send someone back out to redo most of tiles since they had drip marks and uneven paint lines. The second worker spent a great deal of time putting his coworker's job down. The entire job was awful and I would never use them again. I have since worked with a fantastic reglazer, Premier Refinishing, for other jobs, and I would contact them for any further work without hesitation. read more

Did an excellent job on an old stained tub!! A brand new tub spout was tarnished from latex glove used to protect it (chemical reaction?) however, Mr. Ugly had no problem reimbursing for new one!! Great customer service!!! read more

Needed to have a crack resurfaced on our tub, they came, charged 400 bucks, fixed the issue. Checked it the next day, and it has two bubbles in the touch up. Called company 5 times to have them come back and take a look at it - no call back. Still waiting..... read more

Looks brand new! We have a rental property and had the bathtub resurfaced once before. But, the tenants cleaned it wrong (they used bleach and abrasive sponges so, now we will write down the tub care for new tenants). After a few years with the old tenants it needed resurfacing again. Brian came out and had to scrape the old surface 1st then re-glaze. He was quick, courteous, neat and professional and the price was very fair. It really looks amazing! Do not use this company! I live in a house built in 1929 with original cast iron tub and subway tile bathroom. Mr Ugly Tub reglazed my tub back in 2009. It started peeling within five days. I called to complain. I spoke with Bonnie, the office manager, who never returned my call. I called again a month later after there was no response. She told me all about the family hardships that the owner was going through, and blamed their delayed response on the bad economy. She promised someone would eventually come out. Another month passed with no word. I called again to hear more excuses about the economy and family problems. Eventually she started crying on the phone because I got really mad. Finally, the company agreed (months later) to redo the job. It started peeling again after one week. At this point most of the glaze is peeled off. Every time I take a shower still more comes off. If I were to take a bath I would have shards in my a**. I did not bother to try to reconcile this matter, because I did not want to make Bonnie cry, and I ate the $600 that the job cost. I cannot believe the low quality of professionalism and customer service. To me it seemed as if they knew their product did not work, and Bonnie was taking the same complaint calls all day to her wit's end. I am surprised that they remain in business. read more

called Mr. Ugly to have tub reglazed..spoke to Cliff, the owner. Seemed very accommodating and thought it would run smoothly...I was TOTALLY wrong! They came to reglaze and make one minor chip repair on tub and made it worse and only to find a chip on the other side which was not there before. I called to tell him and he said he would send someone back however..they do NOT work past 4pm and will NOT do a weekend so basically, its on their timeline. They are not accommodating at all and the customer service is extremely unprofessional. Cliff was NOT happy about my call and having to have them come back. They came back only to make it even worse....I took pictures and emailed it to them. We scheduled another appt to have them come back and on the day they were to come, I got a call saying they wouldn't come that day because starting a job at 2pm was too late. I was beside myself! he wanted me to wait for another day when I would be off and could be hoe for them. I demanded they come at this specific day as the 2pm appt was already confirmed and not an issue. Well Cliff told me it was too late and they couldn't do it. He said he was going to talk to his guy, Brian, and he said Brian wouldn't come. I asked why he couldn't make decisions for his own business...he had no response. Needless to say, it ended when my fiancé called and demanded our money back. WE are still waiting for the check so let's see what happens. Biggest issue now....who wants to fix someone else's issue and how much more $$ will it cost us! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON MR. UGLY. THEY do not stand by their work nor do they really care. ZERO STAR RATING - HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE! Contracted this company a few months ago to resurface my cast iron, double kitchen sink. First time it was done, the coating wasn't applied properly -- some heavy thick areas, some thin sparse areas -- some areas with actual drip marks...then hundreds of tiny bubbles formed in the clear coating during the curing process -- AND to make matters worse, there were 2 strands of HAIR from the contractors head that got stuck under the clear seal coating -- disgusting! Called & complained they came back down to "redo" it a second time. This time, the new worker put SO much top clear top coat over the surface that as it tried to cure, it actually oozed & ran into my kitchen sink drain and garbage disposal. My insinkerator brand ($$$) garbage disposal got damaged & stop working They sent over a manager who proceeded to dig into my garbage disposal with a pocket knife - as if he knew what a real plumber would need to do fix it. I was told they would send a professional plumber to look at it... weeks go by, and no plumber and no working disposal. We were told to purchase a new one & to send photos & invoice for the purchase. Did so. Now the owner is expecting us to drop off the old one - refuses to come pick it up. Why? We did everything asked of us! I might also add, we were reimbursed for the cost of the resurfacing job because they were unable to complete the job in a professional way and after ruining our plumbing, I refused to let them in my house again. ( btw, cheated me out of $35 with the refund -- these people can't even do math right! ) The fact they they reimbursed for the seal coat, they know they screwed it up BIG TIME!! RUN FAST FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! This experience has been SO unbelievable that if I can save one consumer an ounce of aggravation & expense that I have had ... it was worth my time & effort writing this review. read more

Whatever you, do not use this company. I had my old cast-iron tub reglazed about 15 years ago, and it needed to be done again, with peeling, stains, etc. I called Mr. Ugly and was told by the woman in the office that the old glazing would be completely removed before reglazing and the tub would look like new. I was also told the technician would need 4-6 hours to complete the job. The technician showed up 1.5 hours late, without anyone calling, and did a terrible job. I was out when he left, but he could not have been here more than 2 hours. He did not remove the old glaze, but just painted over what was there, peeling and chipped parts and all. He also dripped big globs of paint down the side of the tub. I called the office to explain what had happened and was given a date a week later for someone to come out to do the job properly. No one showed up, and when I called I was told I was not in the system, whatever that means. I was given a new date the following week, and was again stood up, even though when I called the office I was told the technician was running late, but would be here. I called an hour or so later, and the woman in the office said she would reach out to the technician and get back to me. I never heard from Mr. Ugly again. Terrible workmanship and terrible way to run a business. The good news -- I found NJRefinishing.com, which did a great job, and for less money than Mr. Ugly was going to charge. read more
