Do not recommend this place at all. The customer service was terrible, and the food tasted stale and old. To make matters worse, I was charged $18 for just 6 chicken wings, which is completely overpriced for the quality I received. I was trying to take advantage of their Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion. In addition, the Chicken Lo Mein was hot upon arrival but didn't look or taste fresh at all. I'll give them a (barely) 3. Food should be eaten within the day. Try not to save the food for tomorrow's work lunch because some of the food will get a bit funky. Shrimp fried rice - was still piping hot for a good 20 minutes AFTER I got home. Lots of shrimp. The rice was browned with soy sauce but there was barely any flavor. It was a pretty bland. I saved some for the next day and immediately noticed the drop in quality, and it started smelling a tad funky. It was even blander the second day. Steamed dumplings - 10 small pieces (at least, for me). I thought they were good, especially with the accompanying seasoned soy sauce. Crispy beef - the batter was crispy. However, the beef was quite tough and hard to chew. My jaw was hurting while chewing some of the pieces. The juices that oozed out tasted and felt chalky on my tongue, as though it was batter paste. The sauce tasted good and I liked the crispiness of the beef, but I didn't like the chalky aftertaste or the toughness of the beef. Veggie lo mein - bland. Like the fried rice, this was piping hot for about 20 minutes AFTER I got home. If you get this, I recommend you not keep this in the fridge past day 1. Chicken wings - crispy and alright. I liked them. Chili oil/paste condiment - looks like it was made in house. The aroma was not familiar to me and smelled funky -- a tad fishy. I thought it was like the chili oil at Chinese restaurants, only thicker. Boy was I wrong. Overall, I found their food to be just "meh". The appetizers (wings and dumplings) were better than the entrees. Out of the entrees I had, the crispy beef was the best, despite how hard the beef was, because at least it had flavor and was actually crispy. What surprised me the most about the food I ordered was how much shrimp they put in the fried rice. It was a lot. Lastly, parking sucks balls. It can be tricky to back out of the parking lot and the parking lot is very narrow. read more

I read the reviews and decided to try Mrs. Chen's anyway for Chinese delivery. The time of delivery was great but the crab Rangoons barely had any mixture inside. I had Moo Goo Gai Pan and the flavor was just off. We also had chicken and broccoli which was okay but not great. I am sorry to say I can recommend this place. read more

I moved here from California (La and SF) and have been looking for "American Chinese" food. SF had opened me up to actual Asian food and it was really good. Don't get me wrong, but growing up on orange chicken and chow mein, I really missed it. I was able to order orange chicken and it made me home sick Chow mein is okay but it could be because it's called lo mein. They may be cooked differently...... idk? Delivery service is lacking here... they call me before they arrive so I can wait for them outside my apartment building...they used to bring it up to my unit. I just had a delivery from them and got the crispy beef. It was overly sweet and no spice. It was full of clumps of sugar. I got ill from it. I called for a refund and the woman refused to give me a refund unless I take a picture of the food and send to her or someone comes to pick the food up to take back to the store. Ordered delivery. The food was actually good. I ordered shrimp and broccoli, beef w/oyster sauce, sesame chicken, and beef lo mein. The shrimp in my shrimp and broccoli was full size shrimp. The portions were reasonable. I Only had two small issues hence the 4 stars. My crab Rangoon had little filling and the delivery driver wouldn't bring my food to my hotel room which cost him $10 of his tip. My order was $48 and some change. I had $60 and was leaving the change for a tip. After he called me from in the lobby and told me he wasn't coming up and he called so I could come down I switched out one $20 for a $10 and have him $50 instead. My whole purpose for ordering delivery. If I wanted to leave my room I would've went and picked up my order. Delivery Review-- Definitely a solid choice and one of our go-tos for Chinese delivery. Typically arrives pretty quickly and they deliver to our door. My favorite order is the General Tso's chicken which comes with rice and broccoli. It's a decent serving size so depending on how hungry you are, it can probably feed 1-2 people. We also usually get vegetable lo mein. I've tried some other dishes like the steamed veggies and chicken but it wasn't my fave so I usually just stick to general tsos, lo mein, and sometimes egg rolls if I'm treating myself! read more

This is so sad as this had been a great find - I use to take out several times a week with co-workers I hope they read all these reviews and upgrade their quality and standards. Delicious Birthday Dinner from Mrs. Chen's Kitchen. That is what I just had and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not just I--but we thoroughly enjoyed it. I can say nothing bad about the food it was scrumptious. We had a total of eight dishes along with the egg rolls from this restaurant. Shrimp-Fried Rice, Twice Cooked Pork, Kung Pau Chicken, Szechuan Beef, General Tso's Chicken, Pork Lo Mein and Orange Chicken. This was not our first visit to Mrs. Chen's but this was the first special dinner we had from here and no doubt we will visit here again. I generally order Mongolian beef, but decided to step outside of my box for this other beef dish, which was so unmemorable that I have absolutely no idea what it was called, and I'll probably stick to old trusty from here on out. The vegetables in it tasted rotten. The rice that came with it was dry and stale. It just wasn't good. My chubby kids and life partner all said that their food sucked, which is a great indicator that it sucked, because my teenage garbage disposals will eat anything. Delivery was quick. That's all I've got. I have a friend who is a chef who basically said that yelpers ruin businesses due to over criticism. I'm here to say that businesses ruin businesses due to them not taking heed to what their customers want. Fresh, quick, quality food. I have ordered from this place more than a few times and each time they forgot something but I always let It go because the price and quality of food was good. However, last night I stayed up very late working and placed my order at around 4:30am to be delivered after 5pm as I was planning on sleeping in. My door was being knocked at quite loudly before 11:30am and the delivery person called my phone a few times which ultimately woke me up. I was very specific when placing my order that I wanted my food to be delivered after 5/5:30pm. I also requested extra spicy sauce on the side and received not one package. In addition to that I ordered Mongolian beef which is generally loaded with an abundance of onions so I asked that they go light on that onions. Once again my request was ignored. My Mongolian beef was primarily onions with hardly any meat in It. I must say that I am quite upset and disappointed in the service. Had I not been home my food would have gone to waste or who knows. I ordered from this place while visiting DC since they left a menu in our hotel room. While ordering we were disconnected & I tried calling back several times but the line was busy. I indicated that I was paying by credit card right before I got disconnected so I just thought they wasn't going to complete the order. An hour later, they ended up still delivering the food but it was the WRONG order. Not to mention I had to scramble to find cash in my room since they couldn't just CALL me back to get my CC info since that's how I was planning to pay. But I went last night and they must have someone new int he kitchen because it was EXCEPTIONAL! I mean you can't really mess up chicken and broccoli but it was so noticeably more delicious.
