Card still works but two RMAs is ridiculous. The first one almost caught fire and smoked so I turned off the pc to stop that from happening. It also fried the bluetooth on the board, don't ask me how, but I use a dongle now. This and a Dominator I bought from them in 2015 really makes me regret buying anything from MSI and I'm probably not going to buy anything from them ever again. After checking yelp reviews, I was a bit wary about my visit to get my keyboard fixed (2 of my buttons had cracks in them). But holy shit, John helped me out and he was fucking phenomenal. He replaced the 2 keys in minutes, then asked if I wanted my fans cleaned out and it would take half an hour (it took less than that). I felt super comfortable and welcome, and he was so helpful with everything, I was even a bit bummed to leave. I wanted to throw money at him. While I love my MSI Stealth Pro, this review is specifically for the horrendous business model they have for their repairs. I needed to get my out-of-warranty laptop repaired as it is having fan problems. The customer service rep did attempt to help get things sorted, but I could tell early on he simply wanted to get my product in the system. A system that by the way costs $69 to simply tell you what is wrong with your laptop after having to spend the high prices associated with shipping your rig. The final straw for me was the price tag associated with a simple mechanical fix; $390. A local PC repair shop with much better reviews, travel distance, and decency quoted me nearly 60% less and his own personal guarantee of service and quality. I'll be heading to him immediately when my laptop returns to me. I truly do love my Stealth Pro, but MSI is absolutely terrible when it comes to out-of-warranty repairs and their prices are abhorrent. Either ensure your warranty lasts long enough to cover the time until you upgrade or find a good local PC repair shop--do not use MSI RMA. read more

MSI's BIOS RAID uses completely nonstandard headers as far as BIOS RAID goes. Furthermore, the RAID header specification is unavailable. Upgrade BIOS loses RAID configuration with no warning. On encountering a failure of a single disk in the RAID, the RAID driver included with the Motherboard failed to notice. I'm currently running with one leg of the RAID unservicable due to bad sectors in the RAID header blocks and it still believes the RAID is healthy. I can't imagine what they are thinking. New disk is on order, but I had to disable RAID and probe from a boot disk to find out that a disk was bad, let alone which disk. read more

Do Not buy MSI computers. They are a total scammers. I bought a MSI PC from best buy for about $1,100.00. About 1.5 years later the PC would not restart. I called MSI for repairs and they wanted to change the motherboard and charge me $800 for repairs. Called a friend of mine and found out it was a faulty sound chip that was causing the problem. The bad thing is, that the parts are only sold through MSI. They quoted me $84 for the parts + shipping. Which is super expensive in comparison with similar parts. I had no choice and had to purchase through them. Not only it took 3 months to arrive, super expensive and found out that they are scamming customers. With the parts, there was a commercial invoice for the original parts from their HQ. Their HQ is selling to MSI America for $41.00 (which is still expensive). MSI is turning around and selling the part for ($82) double the amount to customer. Which means, their HQ is making tons of money from selling parts to their branch and their branch is selling at an outrageous price to customers. MSI... you are the worst and hope you go bankrupt soon. Never buying from them or any computer manufactured from MSI. read more

Customer service or lack there of is a joke. I would stay away from MSI, their hardware is sketchy and their support has to be the worst in the industry. I will not buy another MSI. Do some research before you buy if you are looking at laptops. I believe their hinges have a design flaw among a few other issues that are frequently noted. Do not buy any product from MSI. They are a horrible company. I purchased a GS76 Stealth 11UH-029 17.3" FHD Gaming Laptop with Extended Warranty - 2 Years for $3,239.99. The laptop broke by fault of MSI hardware within 7 months of owning it and I had to send it in for a repair. When they repaired it, they caused another problem with the licensure of Windows and I had to redownload all the drivers manually with MSI on the phone. Not only was the warrantee service done correctly, it was done EARLIER than expected. I was told by company officials that MSI's repair facility and capability had recently been expanded and it was evidenced by the outstanding service I received. Way to go, MSI! MSI's warranty service is crap. Heck, many of their computers likely aren't crap, but mine was/is. (I say was because I sent it in for warranty service--we'll see what I get back) Anyhoo... When buying an MSI, realize that for warranty service you will be paying out of pocket to ship your computer to MSI. Also realize that you'll need to confirm and reconfirm that your RMA includes all of the issue-specific information that you shared with the customer service rep who provided it. (Case in point: I shared myriad, detailed information with the rep, only to receive an RMA confirmation with one general issue listed. I called to verify that all of the specific information I previously shared about my computer's multiple issues had been documented--as the rep stated he was doing during our initial conversation--only to find out that NONE of my information had been documented. Needless to say, I rehashed and they supposedly forwarded the information to the service department.) Also, realize that warranty "service" means you'll ship your computer to MSI and they'll take WEEKS to fix it. Heck, they'll take WEEKS to even START fixing it. I shipped my computer off two weeks ago (via Priority Mail) and MSI hasn't even moved my computer past the "arrived" stage in as much time. Warranties and "customer service" aside, these computers aren't well made. I've had an MSI Ghost GS70 for just over a year and it's overheated since day one. I've never been able to play a game on it because the processor can't bear the load, and the fans can't compensate for the excessive heating (upwards of 180+ degrees F, then shutdown). I did everything I could to optimize the system (turned turbo off and green mode on, reduced frame rates, disabled programs, etc, etc, etc) and this system STILL overheated when I surfed the net. Talk about a $1500+ piece of junk. It looks great, it's thin, it's relatively light, it's a great color, but if you can't use it for any CPU-tapping tasking it's junk, plain and simple. Long story shorter, I will never buy MSI again. Their computers are subpar and the customer service is abysmal--particularly their version of warranty service, which is offensive to anyone that uses a computer given that you have to pay to ship your defective computer to them and then wait ages to ever get it back. I bought a laptop from MSI. Just outside of the warranty period, the hinge started to separate (seems from the stress of opening the lid, plastic clips inside broke). After reaching out to countless employees and being disconnected a few times, they would fix it for $300+. Apparently it's a very common issue when Googled, but MSI refused to give me a break. After 3 months of owning my GT73VR-6RF I have encountered the following issues. 1. Screen Bleed at the bottom (120Hz version IPA panel). Which became more visible in recent days. 2. GPU toggle button no longer works. (Stopped working after a windows update, troubleshooting involved reinstalling SCM and Dragon Center - Did not fix the issue.) 3. Steel series button no longer pulls if the steel series app. (Reinstalling the newest version of Steel Series) did not resolve the problem. 4. When Xotic PC sent me this laptop it came with a green dragon logo, and not the white logo I had chosen at the time of purchase. My experience with Xotic was fairly predictable as I was far out of my 15-day return policy. And the RMA process is around 10 days. This being my work PC that would be impossible and they do not send temp laptops to use while yours is being worked on. So your basically just S.O.L.. My biggest issues are these.... I should not have screen bleed on a laptop I spent 3200 dollars on, and if it does happen, at least offer a temp for working people. I understand there is always a chance of getting a bad unit, so this one I can let go since it is RMA fixable. As for giving me a green dragon instead of the white one I ordered, Xotic PC did say that could be swapped with by RMA'ing it as well. But, I SHOULD NOT have to worry about my laptops hardware buttons (GPU Toggle, and Steel Series button) becoming in-active or broken after a windows update. Windows updates often, and I don't want to have to RMA my laptop every time it happens. I'm now worried about the future of this laptop. Eventually, my warranty will run out, and this laptop is a desktop replacement that should last longer than 2 years. Which means that everytime windows updates outside of my warranty, I will then have to pay to get it fixed. Had I known... The screen had bleed RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX - I wouldn't have bought it. (MSI rep said ALL IPA screens have a degree of bleed and that its normal) The GPU toggle button, and the Steel Series button have a chance of breaking upon installing Windows Updates - I wouldn't have bought it. The wrong color logo - Really Xotic PC? I spent 3200 on this thing and you didn't even get my logo right? The red coloring on the laptop makes it look like a Christmas themed laptop. - I wouldn't have bought it. (Based not only on aesthetics, but lack of attention to detail during manufacture) Like anyone, after spending 3200 dollars on a laptop you would hope to never encounter these issues. Especially after only 3 months... Realistically though, it could happen. Unfortunately now I'm afraid to update windows because it might cause more buttons to function incorrectly. I of course am very dissatisfied with this product and would like MSI or Xotic PC to contact me for an exchange or return. I will be posting this review on every review site possible. Because I don't believe anyone should pay 3200 for a laptop that 3 months down the line will encounter screen bleed, hardware button malfunction, and poor manufacturing with lack of attention to detail. After a month of playing tag with them finally got approved to send it for repairs... costing me several hundred dollars to ship it. So, where to start? This computer has been a crap storm from the very start. The computer showed up missing components (mouse and keyboard), the wrong setup instructions, internal cabling not connected properly or at all and that was just day one. This thing is just flaky. It crashes frequently, which, to be honest, could be the fault of the Microshaft windblows 10 operating system (which came loaded by MSI) or just locks up and in either case the only solution seems to be to cut the power and force it to reboot. Talking to MSI customer support (which seems to be an oxymoron in itself) their only suggestion seems to be to reset the computer - but that doesn't seem to clear up all the problems and is that something they think the user should be doing on a weekly basis? As an expensive gaming computer this thing is about as useful as a cinderblock (and the cinderblock is a heck of a lot more useful and doesn't come with a crummy windblows operating system). If you are considering buying one of these high tech boat anchors don't - and if you do consider getting counseling (you may need after trying to use the thing for any length of time). I may decide to do a youtube video on this thing ala the Tesla owner in Norway - that might be the only real satisfaction I get for having been foolish enough to buy this piece of junk. read more

I wrote about this recently and this is a followup. I took my laptop to the repair location along with a detailed explanation of what was wrong. A few days later it was returned to me UN-REPAIRED! I was told that they could not find anything wrong. When I got it back I tested it following my own instructions and it is still Broken! The issue is: If you attach an external monitor to the MINI PORT (HDMI), the monitor does not come on at startup. I now have a new ASUS laptop with the same HDMI configuration and it turns on the external monitors without any issues. Still, If I substitute the MSI computer for the ASUS, the MSI is still broken. read more

I purchased an Msi GX630 gaming laptop through Costco a year ago. In the 12 months that I have owned the laptop, it has been replaced twice with new ones and been sent in for warranty repairs three times. When I purchased the laptop I knew that the battery did not last long nor were the speakers good, but the issue is the overall poor quality of the laptop components. Due to the poor componments and manufacturing of the laptop, it is constantly breaking and in need of repair. The one star also has to do with their customer service which is horrible if you are able to get ahold of someone period. Also very little of the actual laptop is under warranty requiring you to pay even more for them to fix it, and on top of that they do not send you a prepaid shipping box. YOU have to pay for that to add insult to injury. Overall I have nothing but negative things to report on this company's customer service, treatment of customers, and product quality. I should make it clear at the outset that I'm a serious computer hobbyist who has built half a dozen computers, but not a computer professional. I currently have three computers running with MSI motherboards. On the negative side, I've had problems with 4 out of 7 MSI motherboards. The "bad" motherboards were either defective out of the box, or failed within 90 days of installation. Of the three motherboards that I've counted as "good", one sometimes displays Chinese characters when one enters the the BIOS setup. These statistics are not encouraging, but I've had similar or slightly worse results with other manufacturers, including Gigabyte and Asus. On the positive side: (1) It is relatively easy to get through to MSI technical support. Unlike most of the other manufacturers, one does not have to spend hours on hold to get a live person. (2) The support people tend to know what they are doing. I can contrast this with GIgabyte, where the tech support people were sometimes clueless to the point that they would ask me to explain how certain components worked or why they were even needed! (3) I've found MSI to be generally honest. In contrast: Gigabyte routinely recycles bad motherboards without repairing them. I once had major performance problems with an Asus motherboard: Disk-to-disk transfer rates were about 1/4th of what the manufacturer had advertised. Asus insisted that the slow transfers must be caused by a problem with my disk drives, but when I replaced the motherboard, the transfer speed problem was solved. One other Asus problem is worth mentioning: A poor design on one of their motherboards allowed the USB cable within the system box to be connected incorrectly; if this was done, devices that were plugged into the USB port would be destroyed. Although Asus fixed this problem with the next release of that motherboard, they never acknowledged that there had been any problem, and no one was ever compensated. (4) MSI turn-around times for motherboard replacements are fast. In summary, while I feel that MSI is far from being a perfect outfit, I also believe that a useful review and rating must compare them with the competition, who are for the most part much worse. To upgrade MSI from 4 stars to 5 stars, I would want to see two things: (a) better reliability, including no dead-on-arrival motherboards. (b) some evening support hours (at least one day per week) or weekend support hours (for those of us who have day jobs that pay the bills) read more

I own a 10 year old MSI Notebook that has been great. 3 years ago I was going to build a new gaming desktop and I found that MSI was now producing them. I spoke to the distributor and specifically asked if it used standard (replaceable) components and was assured it was a "Standard" gaming machine. I spent the $1700 and loved the machine until it died in 3 short years. Living in Boca Raton. FL I knew it would be a hassle to send it back for repairs but owning an MSI was like owning an exotic car and you expected a few hassles. CRAP.. It seemed like it was the power supply and their sevice/RMA department told me they didn't have any of the parts for the machine. I am retired but I do have 20 or so customers I still take care of and I always recommended MSI. Well, I am now a loyal Dell customer and MSI will never see a dime from me or my customers and then MSI sent me a survey asking me how I liked the "experience". I was replacing my 6-year-old laptop, and wanted a machine that could do for another 6 years. I wanted the most powerful and durable computer I could reasonably get. Even though I'm not much of a gamer, I figured a gaming laptop would be both powerful and durable. After seeing reviews saying their MSIs gave problems the day after the warranty expired, I decided to buy it at Best Buy and get their 3-year warranty. I'm glad I did. I loved the computer at first, after I'd spent an afternoon removing bloatware and configuring it the way I wanted. It had SSD *and* a regular hard drive, so lots of storage. It had a fun backlit keyboard. It looked good and had lots of power. After about 6 months, the letters on the keyboard started to rub off, made more visible because, backlit. Annoying, but tolerable. Then - one year out, almost to the week - the cooling fan started giving trouble. I took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. They kept it a week, and then told me that they couldn't/ wouldn't repair it. They would give me a *full refund.* So I wiped the computer (a pain, because I had to transfer all the stuff on it to an external hard drive) and gave it to them. I am not buying an MSI again. I think the design is good, but the engineering didn't work out and quality control ... well, maybe they don't have any. read more

WOW!!! I can't believe a company like this can stay in business with such poor service, almost horrible customer support and a website that's nearly unusable because it's so hard to navigate. Trying to find product registration is a nightmare. Technical support is like a death sentence. Some many links are worded differently like you're going to get where you want to get, but you're only looped back to your starting point. Friggen ridiculous. And there phone system is even worse. They have 5 or 6 different phone numbers, online or on the web, all with same prerecorded message giving you numerous numbers to press to reach a department, giving you hope, but each extension tells you to call a different phone number for the extension you're trying to reach. Unless it's customer service, you can "maybe" get to them. So you call the other phone number, same prerecorded message with extensions to push, so you push the one you think you want, and hot damn, it tells you to call the previous phone number. Stupid endless loop of wasted time. But hey, you can, if you're lucky get to customer service. Now I know why. They need support because their machines suck. I spent over $3000 for an MSI machine, and as soon as I turned it on, doesn't work. Mailed back for repairs, got it back, and still doesn't work. In fact, doesn't look like they did anything. I lookoed for paperwork in box to see what they did, only a little scrap stating "replaced slide tray". WTF? I need this to run properly. And you think MSI would have good customer service to handle their crappy returns, but they just tell you to mail it in so they can try and fix it through trial and error hoping to return the item "just good enough" for you to except without them spending too much of their own time and money. Completely unprofessional. I had an outside source look at my machine, and what I thought I was buying was a new machine, some of the internal chips or boards or whatever are like like more than 4 or 5 years old. What the hell is that about? I think something is going on with MSI. You can never talk to anyone other than support. They fix, so they say, with minimal effort. The inside workings are old product. After spendign 8 months trying to get this fixed and never being able to use it, and being on phone with them for hours with no resolve and no "supervisor" available for months, I've finally convinced myself to file a suit. Owner of a GS73 VR 7RG purchased in France in october 2017 but living in Brazil. After barely 4 month of use the fan started doing an unberable rattling noise. I got in touch with their online support a 1st time, and here is what they told me: "Dear Customer, To have your unit repaired at our service center in São Paulo, you'll need to provide them with the invoice you received with your purchase. Please note that the order confirmation doesn't count as a valid proof of purchase. If you don't have the invoice, then please get in touch with your store or e-tailer to obtain a copy. Best regards, MSI " Following I got in touch in São Paulo Service Center who responded me it was impossible for themhelp me solve my Laptop problem since they are not part MSI global warranty program. I contacted then a second time MSI support who repeated me the same bullshitty message. I explained them it was impossible to have my laptop fixed in Brazil since they didn't grant the local service center and that it would be absurd to send per DHL or UPS (at my own cost of course) my laptop to have it repaired in other country for Fan issues especially because my laptop could in this case stay abroad for long weeks. Purchased a MSI mobile workstation for my work which is heavy CAD usage and occational 3D rendering. I have used HP and Dell before bit MSI by far outspecs botj. Not to mention the price. The Dell I used b4 costs $6k and doesnt come close to the power and performance of MSI model. I have the msi gt70 wworkstation hooked up to 3 displays in a matrix, one of them being a 4k display. Love the performance and the support is always there for me. MSI did an awesome job with their mobile worksrations. Highly recommend them if you are in CAD/CAM environment. Had 1 green stuck pixel on my monitor and bright spots. Took it to their repair shop and got my laptop with a completely new monitor back in less than 2 days. They also cleaned off all the dust on my computer. Pog champ. read more
