I was really concerned about finding a makeup artist because I needed someone that was willing to show up to my house at about 5am in the morning. I reached out to a number of artists - many didn't respond and of those that did - some were abrasive and pushy or wanted to charge an arm and a leg for coming early. From the jump, Tony was courteous, attentive, and flexible. He really listened to what I wanted, thought about it, and executed. And even though I changed my palette a bit a few days before the wedding, he was totally flexible. He did a test run with me before the wedding and it was no big deal for him to show up at my place at 5 am (I needed to leave for City Hall at 7:45 am). I covered his cabs to and from my home and he even provided me with lip gloss to refresh my lips throughout the day. In addition, Tony's rates were incredibly reasonable and well worth the cost! I looked her up on Google and saw more of the work she did. Booked the appointment with her. Day of the appointment. Even though I left early, my Uber ended up making me 30 minutes late. I had to run the last few blocks to my appointment. Notified Vianca and she was very understanding. She got started on my hair after we decided the look. She was fast and efficient. She was able to achieve the elegant vibe I wanted despite having shorter hair than the inspiration pictures I had. That updo STAYED UP for the rest of the evening. I felt like one fancy lady. The salon interior is lovely and an experience in of itself: a pristine white loft on the fourth floor. It's well-designed, minimalist and sun kissed, making for a bright and lovely experience. The salon staff are efficient and so pleasant making the overall experience a boost to your day. I had a single process (with Tam) and cut (with Chen). Both were done professionally. Tam is such a pleasant and kind coiffure. Chen does an amazing blow dry and is a very talented hairdresser. He does good haircuts too. I cannot recommend both of them enough after the pleasant experience I had, right down to the thoughtfully prepared cappuccino and biscotti for their clients. The one thing that places this salon in my favourites list is the fact that they use Kerastase products which are really so agreeable with my hair type and have been a product that I have used since my 20's at hairdressers around the world. The Kerstase shampoos and conditioners brought back such nice and happy memories ... The prices range from USD 165-200 dollars for a single process. About USD 155- 258 dollars for a cut and USD 67-150 dollars for a blow dry. The only thing I would change or ask more of at this salon would be music, music, MUSIC! It's always great to have some tunes playing in the background as you get pretty or prettier, as the case maybe. Enjoy your time at Salon SCK. It's a dream to have your hair in their good hands.

I found Cherry on Yelp and messaged her just a few days ahead of the Tuesday night event. She responded with her quote and the relevant details, and after mulling over whether or not to spend the money, I secured the appointment with a deposit the night before. She only had a 1:00 slot available, but she was able to come to me, meeting me in my hotel room. She arrived right on time with an arsenal of beauty supplies. I liked her immediately. She was so friendly and energetic, and said flattering things about my skin, obviously music to my 39-year-old ears. I had a great time hanging out with her. She asked what I was looking for and I said I was walking a red carpet and just wanted to look good. She took me through her overall plan and started with my eye makeup, layering on colors and checking in to see if I was okay with the level of drama. I didn't know enough to weigh in and let her do her thing, and less than an hour later, I was fully dolled up. She even put fake eyelashes on top of my already fake eyelashes. To be honest, I was a little worried at first. I looked very dramatic for two in the afternoon, and I wondered if I'd let her go overboard. Once I was dressed and at the premiere, though, I felt fairly confident and comfortable and got lots of compliments. I walked the carpet, the second time I've done that in my life, and stood and posed awkwardly for a million photos. I've seen the pictures from both events and am really glad I got my makeup done this time around. The bolder makeup just worked better with those bright lights. I'm not professionally pretty (I'm a writer, which is, if anything, an ugly person's job) so it was fun to get my face painted and hang out with the attractive people who go to television premieres.
