Whereas in many places parents are not allowed to enter the building, we were invited to come in, talk, and even sit and play with the kids for a bit at pickup. There was nothing to hide, which is important for building trust. Our 2-year-old (at the time) had a difficult transition. He would cry and scream at drop-offs for 2 months straight. We were called in for a behavioral meeting in the beginning as well, which helped all parties understand the situation better. Sometimes they would call me to let me know what was happening, or I would call and check. After the transition period, he adjusted quite well and became a star student. He enjoyed spending time with the small group of friends and his teachers. As parents, we liked getting picture updates by text or Facebook every once in a while. The teacher would let us know how the day went when we picked him up. There were arts and crafts projects and the teachers tried to find activities that interested individual kids as well (in my son's case, electronics and lights). They even worked with us regarding medical issues that came up. In many cases, they knew more about his ailments than the clueless doctors. The less-than-ideal factors were that within 1 year, his main teacher changed 3 times. This was hard for him. However, each one was wonderful. Food was not included in tuition at that time, which means the extra stress of packing snacks and lunch in the morning. At some points, there was overcommunication, like several emails within a week. Ultimately, this is better than being under-informed. We highly recommend this daycare. Every family is different but it was a great fit for us.

The school does have a number of rules and is very structured, which can be offputting at times, but trust that there is a reason for everything that is done at this school. I have seen my son learn to count, add and subtract, recognize and write letters. I've noticed his artwork become more colorful and his creativity soar. The school is more expensive than some others and with this year's winter weather, it was closed more than we would have liked. Alas, you can't put a price on a good quality education and we are proud of the thoughtful boy that we have thriving at BFP.

Once my kids started at CHBS, their Japanese language skill sky rocketed. My 4 year old went from somewhat understanding what I was saying to him in Japanese, to being able to speak to me in Japanese 100%. He also learned to read and write during his time there. This morning, as I was dropping off my two grandchildren for preschool the parking lot was flooded and in order to avoid the children getting their feet wet, the teachers had the parents and grandparents pull up to the sidewalk and they physically stepped into water and picked the kids up out of the vehicles and carried them in. This saved the kids from having wet feet, socks and shoes for the day and I thought it was incredible that they actually took the time to do such a kind gesture for the kids. My daughter loves Ms. Amalia in the Toddler 3 room, which puts my anxiety at ease on drop off when my daughter runs right into the classroom to play. They are understanding of her EDI plan and are flexible with us about appointments. They communicate with parents effectively and have embraced my diverse family. The lead teacher Kristina in the three-year-old program is also very knowledgeable and goes out of her way to reach out to you if your child has had a hard time transitioning or mom or dad has had a hard time transitioning. It appears that a lot of their curriculum for the younger ages is really based off of routine. This is essential especially if you live in a household where routine may lack.
