First time here for bowing and dinner party. Lanes keep nice and greased. We had a group of 25 and…read morewe had the whole place to ourselves. We had a buffet which had pasta, baked chicken, roast beef, potatoes, creamed corn, salad and garlic bread . The food was very good and tasty. Service was great

This is a good spot for a family outing to the lanes…read more It's pretty bare bones, and probably hasn't been updated in decades, but bowling is still the same sport, so what updates are needed? They've got bowling lanes, a pool table, some claw machines and vending machines, and next door, the Viking Valhalla restaurant/bar. It's convenient to be able to walk into the bar to order beers and drinks and food and more. The bartender was super nice, as was really everyone we met. Basically, the beer is cheap, the shoes were in decent shape, and the lanes were open. We didn't get any wings this time, but I think that's in the cards next time. The only drawbacks, as I see them: 1. They seem to have a lot of rules. Only our youngest kids could use the bumpers, as they were worried about damage. They also watched us pretty closely to make sure all shoe rules were being followed. Maybe that's just because we were just about the only folks in there. That said, the place is clean and well kept, which I imagine is because they are vigilant. 2. I got a lot of false hope after throwing two strikes right out of the gate. I was looking at the guy's name scrawled on the wall for his 300 game, and dreaming it could be me. Turns out I couldn't even break 150.

Sunset Bowl - Can't take the popcorn out of the bar. That's...boo

We've been to these lanes about 5 times now. It's a very good bowling center. The equipment works…read morewell, the food is decent and the bar spacious. Mostly I appreciate their commitment to operations. Street shoes come off near the front door to avoid tracking wet salty water all over in the winter. Automatic gutter guards are available for kids. The approaches have always been clean. There are plenty of entertainment options here besides the bowling including a TouchTunes jukebox, arcade room and food and beverage options. Overall, this is a more lively and fun place to bowl than, for example, Roseland Bowl in Canandaigua which is closer to us. Also, at least as of early 2026, 3 games of open bowling costs about 4.5 dollars less per person than Roseland Bowl.

Ok! I gotta give this place 5 stars! Few reasons for that! Let's begin!…read more Few weeks back, I was in NY visiting and my last get together with my girls (all girls I've been friends with since 5th grade...1988 lol), my one friend Melissa suggested that we go bowling! I hadn't been bowling in 20 years. So I was definitely down for this. Thankfully, so was everyone else. I live in Boise now and yeah, we have old bowling alleys, but there's one called Big Al's. It's a bowling alley, but is not A bowling alley, if ya know what I mean? If not, it's basically a MASSIVE place! Everything is super modern, entire upstairs is an arcade. Has like 2 restaurants in there, a bar, lol. A bowling alley in my mind is a place like Sunset Bowling! Old school! A place where people used to smoke cigarettes while bowling like it was their job! All while ordering crappy food, pitchers of beer and it was just....fun! Big Al's is fine, but it's not the bowling experience kids deserve. Of course, smoking is banned everywhere now, and thank God for that. Old school bowling is just better. I can see the appeal of these new places. I mean, I was blown away by how nice Al's is, but I dunno, the old school ones just bring a whole different magic, totally different vibes, better vibes. Walking into Sunset Bowl, I was happy to see that it basically looked the same as it did when we were kids. Still had that 90s feel to it. They have definitely renovated since then (I think haha. It's been YEARS since I was last there prior to this most recent visit). But the same feeling of...good ole Americans, regular ole Americans, just having a great time...bowling! Of course there are video games and whatnot, but the main thing is...bowling. The way it should be. Games were dirt cheap. Like $5.75 I think per game. Then you rent the shoes and I ACTUALLY wore them. I did wear 2 pairs of socks tho bc ... bowling shoes...a level of ick that is off the charts! These were surprisingly...not bad and were actually...do I dare say...kinda comfortable? Last time I went here they had the gray and maroon shoes everrrry bowling alley used to have lol. These were in decent shape too. Made me wonder if they were on the newer side. There's a pic attached to show haha. There was the bar..:popcorn on the counter (like back in the day) but "popcorn stays in the bar" Hahaha so lame. I don't understand that one, but whatever. I also do not drink, but went in with one of my friends so she could order drinks. I did get a soda. $3.75!!! Which is fine, right? Kinda standard. However, it's $3.65 EACH TIME!!! Nooooo free refills!! That's some buuuuulllsh_t! Haha! Couldn't believe that. They also still have the little bowling alley diner, walk up counter, with stools. Very old school. Loved it. Fries were like $4 something. So, the games may be cheap af, but they definitely make up their money in other areas. Did that ruin my experience? Hell no. I am huge on nostalgia, as I mention endlessly in my reviews, so visiting here was definitely nostalgic AF for me. Brought me right back to... elementary school, then junior high, THEN...high school. Geneva used to have Town & Country Bowling. We frequented there more often bc it was closer. They had Rock & Bowl too...which was popular when we were in high school. Sunset still has something similar...cosmic bowling, I think they call it? Town & Country has been gone for years. Very sad, but I absolutely LOVE that Sunset is still around and seems to be doing great. Has to be to still be around after all these years. Makes me happy. It's great to see these places still around, with familiar faces. I dunno, again, it's the nostalgia for me. Does me in every time. I love going home and going to these places bc it's like a time travel experience. You instantly get flooded with all kinds of amazing memories. Some bad, mostly amazing. Again, so happy Sunset is still open! Just allow free refills and let people take the popcorn to their lanes!! Hahaha! Thanks for a crazy "trip down memory lane" (old person saying lol, but it fits perfectly here) Thanks for still existing, for being super clean even after all these years, for reasonable prices and people who work there who seem to actually kinda like their jobs. All that adds to the memories being unlocked in a positive way! Thanks for reading, YelperBowleees! Cheers!
