There was no detail left out and Jeni, the owner, was with us every step of the way beginning back in June 2020 until my daughter's wedding day, May 30, 2021. She was always there to guide and inform us - certainly trying during the Pandemic when the rules of gathering fluctuated daily! Upon arriving at the site on the big day, I found Jeni pinning up the hem of one of the bridesmaid's dresses! Talk about above and beyond the call of duty! My daughter and her now husband had their wedding ceremony and reception at Hayloft on 08/20/2022, Jenny and her staff were very attentive to them as well as the entire bridal party. My wedding was booked for May 16, 2020 at Hayloft in the Grove, but due to COVID-19 was unable to occur as planned. We paid Hayloft almost $11,000 for our wedding that couldn't happen and I will never see that money again. I want my review to serve as a warning for brides considering this venue in there wedding search to proceed with extreme caution...as you will see from my review (and the many 1 star reviews before mine) the owner, Jeni, does not care about you, your family, or your wedding day..she only cares about money. I work in the bridal industry, so I know first-hand how difficult this pandemic has been to brides and businesses alike, but nothing could have prepared me for Jeni's complete lack of respect and moral code during this process. Planning my wedding was condensed into 2 separate meetings, so when we were faced with our heart-breaking reality of not being able to have the wedding we had been planning, our first thought was to of course offer The Hayloft the planning services amount that is in their brochure ($600) plus anything else they could think of that was specific to our wedding and felt was fair. They not only refused our offer, but informed us that they would be keeping every single dollar of the $11k we had paid them. This the event rental space we couldn't use due to COVID, the cottage rental that went unused, and the Rent-A-Restroom, day of coordination, cleaning fees and security deposits (all of which could not have possibly been applicable as the event never occurred). This absolutely crushed me to learn that Hayloft in the Grove was being greedy and heartless and making this time even more difficult for me and my family than it needed to be. Jeni will say that she gave us some dates in 2020 and 2021, but none of them worked around my mother-in-law's cancer treatments or the 5 other weddings that me and my husband are planned to be in this summer/fall. Additionally, many of those dates she offered were Fridays or Sundays (we had booked a solo Saturday ceremony and had access to the grounds all day Friday) so they just were not comparable, OR we would have been the second wedding and had to share the property all in the same day? All that to say that Jeni will play the victim, but I know the truth and what she wanted us to settle for was unfair for the extreme price point and not what we had agreed to when we booked, and I REALLY want to warn other brides who are thinking about giving them their hard-earned money or even already have, PLEASE be careful. I would hate to read more reviews like mine or the ones before me that all address the bottom-of-the-barrel customer service that this venue provides. I don't understand how Jeni feels so comfortable inflicting this kind of unnecessary and undeserving hurt on a young couple trying to make the best out of an unexpected, unplanned situation. I think it really goes to show her character and the lengths that she will go to in order to save her bottom line. I'm married to a wonderful man (we eloped) and we are so happy despite everything Jeni has put us through to start our marriage, but if I could have avoided ever meeting her, I would. So please - heed my warning and steer clear of the Hayloft in the Grove! It's not worth the time, the money, or the heartache. read more

I was recently apart of the bridal party. Wow. I cannot express how flawless everything went. The owner Jeni had her pen & paper ready and made sure everyone was where they needed to be. She helped ease the brides nerves since it down poured an hour before the ceremony. The barn is gorgeous. Pictures do not give this place justice. The grounds are beautifully maintained. I truly can't say enough about the Hayloft. I previously left a review for my experience leading up to my wedding, I had to share my thoughts after as well! My wedding was absolutely perfect! The venue alone is amazing, it's beautiful. The good part is that you are free to do what you want. You could go simple and let the venue speak for itself or you could decorate like crazy just like I did and still get an amazing outcome. You can really let your imagination soar and execute exactly what you envisioned. Jeni and the staff at the Hayloft go above and beyond, they are always helpful and knowledgeable. I have grown to love them over these past 20 months, I firmly believe and love what they do. At the Hayloft you have options for "extras", my advice to any bride... pay to have Jeni handle your day of coordinating. She is simply amazing, she makes sure everything is on time, everything is correct, people are where they need to be, she's the eyes and ears handling everything so you can sit back and enjoy. Jeni was a huge part of why my wedding was amazing! The venue itself is breathtaking, it makes an amazing backdrop for your pictures as well. Personally I have never been to a wedding venue where staff bad mouths the clients to guests. Jeni stomped around the venue having a temper tantrum about the bathrooms. Regardless of what she thinks happened perhaps you could be a little more professional and speak with them after the big day. To see a bride crying on her day and hear the things that you were saying makes me sick. Unless you want to take a chance that the owner is hopefully in a good mood. Stay very far away. read more

I had my wedding here which was the best decision I could have made for a venue. I did not want to do the typical hotel venue. The entire process with the Hayloft was painless. When you book with them, you select your package based on your preferences for your day, including how many chairs, tables, set up, etc. They also will provide "extras", like parkas, help with this or that. The owners and employees are very attentive and helpful. The Hayloft is beautiful. The barn is their baby. They are constantly doing things to make it more beautiful and functional for weddings, the best part, its fully customizable. Note that decor is NOT included, unless you like barn type decor which they will make pretty for you. I am not a country type girl, so I requested please no pumpkins, or fall decor. We hired outside decorators to hang lovely drapery, lights, paper lanterns, etc. You truly get a blank slate to design your dream barn wedding. They will help you with set up and barn type things, like providing a bar, dessert tables, etc. They are so helpful and will work with you to make your day exactly what you want it to be. The ceremony was held near the field, which was perfect and tucked away. You can use the main house to wait and enter from if you choose. They provide a bathroom situation that is a glorified porta-potty. I was very afraid but it was VERY NICE. Do not get freaked out about the bathroom. Many outdoor weddings hire this company to provide bathrooms. The cellar of the barn where dinner is served is so beautiful, like a wine cellar rustic feel. Again can be decorated to your liking. They have different lighting options you can choose from which is a nice touch. Overall it was a beautiful wedding at a unique location that I will always treasure. The venue seems cheap at the most expensive package being $6,000, but consider the HUGE additional cost of decorating such a large venue because that is not included if you want a grand fairy tale Pinterest worthy wedding. I'd like to specifically address the unhappy/negative reviews of this venue. To keep it simple: in the Barn License Agreement it clearly states that if you cancel an event there are no refunds of any deposits. This is an agreement that everyone agrees to and signs. The Hayloft team has provided options for the future should Covid limitations allow. In the meantime they continue to have overhead and bills to pay like the rest of us. In our situation, we decided for numerous reasons to hold a small, intimate ceremony in the beautifully converted stable on the Hayloft grounds. The team was extremely helpful in making this a special day including the use of the bridal suite, ordering specific flowers, speaking with a guitarist and officiant, etc. We were provided ample time before and after the ceremony for many beautiful photos. Please focus on the many 5 star ratings rather than the few negative ones. Our plan is to look forward to a larger reception next year with the complete understanding that we must follow the NYS rules at that time. Party on!! read more

I truly cannot say enough great things about this venue and their staff (huge shout out and thank you to Jeni, Meaghan, Alyssa, Mercedes, Sandy, and the whole team). My husband and I are originally from Buffalo however moved to Cincinnati for work and although all of our wedding planning was done out of state, it was seamless thanks to all of the staff working tirelessly at the Hayloft. They are experts when it comes not only to curating the most beautiful venue down to the details (from the crystal chandeliers in the ceremony stables to the string lights lending a warm glow to the stone cellar dining space), but also when it comes to planning / vendor recommendation and organization, etc. We did not have a wedding planner, and at the end of the day it wasn't needed nor missed at all thanks to Jeni and her team providing guidance, holding regular meetings with us, and creating checklists and timelines along the way. Even the day of the wedding when some things didn't go as planned, I actually had no idea because behind the scenes they were able to continue making the magic happen, and the day was everything I had dreamed of and SO MUCH MORE. Hay wagon rides, puppy cocktail hour (a HayLoft classic), apple cider donuts / hot cider (and not to mention all our apps / drinks etc. were gorgeously presented with Hayloft decor and antiques), all with the backdrop of fall wildflowers and foliage on their property. And that's another thing entirely; we barely had to plan for any decor aside from flowers because the stables, reception barn, and dining cellar are already stunning... I could go on and on for days about every part of this venue and their team being PERFECT. There is so much love put into this wedding venue because it is a family business and even in our search before choosing them this really set them apart; they REALLY CARE. Would recommend a million times over and if I could do this all over again I would 10000000 percent choose HayLoft every time. read more

While this venue is absolutely beautiful inside and out the owner (Jeni) however is not. I was a bridesmaid at a wedding here and I will say everything was gorgeous and the bride and groom did have a wonderful day despite all the incidences that occurred because of the owner (Jeni) and wedding coordinator (Liane) Throughout the whole process of planning Liane was extremely hard to get ahold of to make arrangements. Having the planner does not come with the wedding it was an additional expense so it was expected that she would have been more attentive. Rehearsal was Friday at 5 which is the absolute latest they would allow it. Mind you people still have jobs, kids and responsibilities so when I showed up a little bit late..which the bride knew I would be as I normally work till 6 and got out early...Liane had the audacity to make a snarky comment to me that I should not have been late and that I needed to devote my entire weekend to the bride. This is peanuts compared to Jeni put the bride through. The day before the wedding we had the cottage rented and when the bride showed up Jeni confronted her saying she was late and she should have been there hours ago. So now the bride and groom were responsible for setting up the venue. Jeni was the one who had the times wrong and this is the second time that she has done this. The matron of honor was in the meeting and can confirm that Jeni had the wrong time and that the bride did arrive on time. Now on wedding day. The bride and groom had rented the bathrooms and one of the bathrooms was set up and in place at the beginning of the wedding. While we were all eating dinner the second bathroom arrived and was set up. As soon as dinner was over and they were cutting the cake Jeni confronted the bride and groom ( in the middle of the wedding!!!) saying that she was going to be keeping their security deposit because people were smoking in the bathroom. This is the bathroom that had JUST been set up and had come from the taste of East Aurora!! And then as if it couldn't get any worse Jeni, the owner, actually sat at the bar and complained to guests about the bride and groom! After the wedding we had heard from multiple people that she complained to them, and one of them was my own husband! When your wedding is all said and done you should look back and be able to rave about your Venue not have to warn others about it. The owners of The Hayloft in the Grove have even gone as far as deleting negative reviews off their Facebook page. If they've deleted our negative reviews, how many other negative ones have they deleted? Like I said before it was an absolutely stunning and beautiful venue, however it was not worth it for them to get married there with all the stress the owners put on them. read more

Warning! Beware! Our family made the terrible mistake of doing business with the Hayloft in the Grove. We booked the "Barn" and the "Cottage" for a May 2020 wedding. Unfortunately CoVid19 had undone all of the plans we made for a beautiful wedding for my son and his fiancé. But what is worse than having your dream wedding ruined by a pandemic is doing business with a person with no moral compass who let her greed rule over common sense. Jeni (the owner) refuses to refund ANY (not one cent) of the $10735.00 we paid for a venue that we will never use! On multiple occasions we asked to negotiate even a partial refund. SHE REFUSES! Jeni won't even return our security deposits or cleaning fee. Jeni is only willing to offer us a few alternative dates that unfortunately did not work for our families. We were also hesitant to book another date when there is so much uncertainty of when we could have a wedding with 150+ guest, fearful of planning to only have to cancel again. The bottom line is that I would not recommend ever doing business with the Hayloft. The owner Jeni is impossible to work with and extremely unreasonable. We had a wonderful wedding for my daughter at the Hayloft. Jeni, Liane, Jason and the staff went above and beyond in every way. The venue is gorgeous, we catered from Fat Bob's which works with them all the time and so it went as smoothly as possible. Everyone there was not only responsive to my many many questions and concerns, but absolutely in top of everything, particularly on the day of the event when we had six guests over the age of 85 and Jeni looked after them all wonderfully. If you are looking for a barn venue in WNY this is the one. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. read more

This is a place I haven't heard of and therefore didn't know what to expect going into it. I was invited to a wedding here. Pulled up to a barn and was like hmmmmm. What is this going to be like? Boy was I surprised! This is more than a barn. With its indoor and outdoor theme it was the perfect laid back event. People can wander, drink in the grass, at a table, inside, outside etc. It has a country-esc theme that isn't over the top. Dinner is held downstairs which when it was over forced guests to socialize. Then upstairs in the barn went from cocktail hour to dance floor. It was lovely. It was different and therefore I recommend. All weddings are becoming boring. No surprises. Same traditions. I was happy surprised at this place and the event both the couple and the venue created. read more

What I need to state on here through social media is very important and letting me voice myself to other wedding couples or someone you know that is thinking of getting married at this venue. My husband I had not one issue through our planning process with the Hayloft In the Grove. They promised us they would make sure we had the best weekend! They did so much for us and made sure all our ducks were in a row. I didn't have any doubt that they would become so rude. Well sure enough, after they had that last penny in their pocket, everything changed! The owner approached me very abrasively and rude on my rehearsal day and made me feel like complete garbage. I had no words and tried everything in my power not to let tears of anger come out. Asking me why I wasn't there earlier, which means my wedding decorations would be left up to me and I would need to take charge in handling my own wedding setup. Little did she even care, that my husband and I were running around that whole day with taking care of little mishaps. Not one apology from her, not one. I let this go because of what we spent and all the time we put into this wedding, I wasn't going to let it bug me. One little oopsie I thought... She was as well rude to my family and friends in the wedding party, which hearing her comments after the fact has made me more upset. The factual statements are from at least a dozen family, friends and guests who contacted us after our wedding. Never did I feel more embarrassed and sad and how things played out behind our backs. The day of our wedding, the owner then approached my husband upset. On our wedding day. Who would even do something like that?? Explaining that she found a cigarette butt in the bathroom and our security deposit will be affected by this. Mind you there was no actual proof. And granted it should of never happened and it was taken out of our deposit which was per our contract, we will never argue that. But personally, any matters should of been brought to someone else's attention, not the bride and groom. That's not the time nor place. She then continued to bash us to guests at our wedding! We got word from family and friends of how inappropriate she was. And then taking it a step up, she has now ran her mouth to people in East Aurora. Businesses and locals... still talking about our wedding!! Yes if your reading this, we have gotten a couple calls of how our wedding is still coming out of our own mouth. I'm not sure what we did to deserve such slander, when we didn't start anything. How horrific and embarrassing. What kind of business is ran this way? This is clearly defamation of character. I will be contacting EA Chamber of Commerce as well. I can't sit here and say that I didn't have an amazing wedding, I did. I have never felt more beautiful and the venue was perfect for us! What I am so saddened by is this business took our money, and completely let us down. We were nothing but an amazing clientele to them and paid when money was due and very laid back through this whole process. If this one story can be seen by someone in the process of getting a venue, I'm going to steer you away from the Hayloft. I would never want to see this happen to someone else. I attended an anniversary party at the Hayloft last August. The venue and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. Every detail is top notch. Jeni and her staff were on top of everything for the whole event. It all went like clockwork. Liane was at our beck and call, whatever we needed she was there and with a great attitude. The Hayloft team were more than wonderful to us. For well over a year, they were patient, understanding and as accomodating as possible. When I worked 60+ hours a week for the entire 60 days right up to my wedding, the team was more than willing and happy to take over what I could not do at the time being. Seeing as we had the FULL coordination not just DAY OF ( a lot of people dont seem to understand the difference between the two services. Then they get rude and mean because they are too stupid to understand.)coordination, that was Very helpful to my husband and I. The day of, of course there were hiccups and there always will be, but it was a scene I could only have imagined and yet they made it happen. After checking out venues all throughout the area, we visited and fell in love with HayLoft in fall 2015. It was the cleanest barn venue in a stunning and convenient location. And, it was clear immediately that the owners go above and beyond for their couples. Everything was perfect from start to finish during our wedding day on 5/28/17. From staying onsite at the cottage with close family to the running of our rehearsal, and from answering our many questions along the way during planning to overseeing the execution of our vision, the HayLoft team was absolutely flawless. I will quite honestly miss being in regular touch with Jeni and Liane because they became more like friends. Magical, breathtaking, perfect wedding venue! We are beyond happy with the Hayloft as our venue! They have several packages to choose from and are very accommodating to your personal wants and needs. Our guests raved at how beautiful the grounds looked and how unique this venue is. The barn is beyond pretty with all its interior lighting and decor and the patio and new addition provide wonderful space for all your guests. Flowers everywhere and so magically festive.
