We stayed at Mt Vernon Flats for five months while relocating to Baltimore for work. Roman and his team were fantastic! They were always quick to respond and quick to take care of any issue. The registration, check-in, and monthly payments were all automated and easy to use and navigate. The space was cosy but roomy enough for two of us, and the place was fully furnished with an outfitted kitchen so we could easily cook any meal if we wanted to. Roman at Mt. Vernon flats is spectacular! Went to Baltimore for a travel nurse assignment and found Roman on airbnb. His way of hosting is beyond measure. He will always make sure you are comfortable and if any problems arise it will be taken care of right away. From a travel nurse point of view, the places that he has are all on a safe location. John Hopkins Hospital 8 min drive, Mercy Hospital is a walk away, grocery and food are all very close too. Also, the internet is blazing fast! Mt Vernon Flats is the best landlord I've ever had, full stop. They take excellent care of their properties, offer reasonable rates and amenities, and are consistently responsive and happy to help when a problem comes up (for instance, when my stove was having problems they had a mechanic there within 24 hours). They truly go above and beyond for their tenants. When I was out of town, they kindly watered my plants. When I noticed a door was squeaking, the owners came out with tools and fixed it. When I was moving out and accidentally sent an extra check, they refunded me immediately. Before I moved in, they gave me input on the paint job, which no landlord has ever done in my experience! Every interaction I had with Roman and Olivia was kind and genuine, and I just felt less stressed out knowing that my landlords were kind people. I highly recommend renting from them. The property I rented was extremely well-kept and attractive. The living room had tons of light and the fireplaces had beautiful accents. The kitchen was in great shape and the bedroom was extremely spacious. I only rented for just under a year, but I'm going to remember this apartment and the great times in Mt Vernon for the rest of my life. This is in a great location for downtown Baltimore, especially for those that don't have a car-- light rail stop is 1 block away, the free to ride Charm City Circulator is 2 blocks away, Penn Station is I think about 5-6? blocks away. It's an easy 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown offices, the Inner Harbor, Camden Yards and MARC train. Lots of great walk-able nightlife and dining options in the neighborhood. You can easily get away with not having a car here. Street parking is not too bad either for guests visiting. Not too far from the major Interstates. Very reasonable rent prices for a clean and professional building with organized and very responsive landlords I think it's a father-son tag team? Usually am able to get a response from one or the other really quickly. Best apartment experience I have had in this city! Only reason I moved out was because I moved out of Baltimore for another job in another city. Otherwise, I would still be loving it. Definitely recommend this place! read more

We have had a wonderful experience renting from Mt. Vernon Flats. We moved to Baltimore from across the country, and signed a lease without seeing our apartment first, which was stressful (to say the least), but I am so glad we took a chance. Definitely the best landlords we have ever had: They are extremely responsive and quick to address any issues, easy to work with, and kind people who truly care about their tenants being safe, comfortable, and happy in their apartments. They even took the time to add amenities to our apartment before we moved in (eg dishwasher, garbage disposal, refinished the floors, etc.). Our apartment itself has a lot of beautiful historic character: wood floors, two fireplaces (both sealed, one marble), and a clawfoot tub. The location is great: Mt. Vernon is a gorgeous, historic, and safe neighborhood, and has lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. We've loved living here and have found Mt. Vernon flats to be extremely easy to work with. Roman and his dad have been two remarkably good property managers, and are honestly reason enough to move here. They are attentive, and exceptionally responsive to their tenants. The spaces themselves are in an historic building, and have charming details and great floor-plans. We were lucky enough to have an outdoor space attached to our unit. Even though I moved into a 1 bedroom with my girlfriend, there was still a ton of space for the two of us. The neighborhood is beautiful, safe, and quiet (even with the proximity to Howard St, and the hospital). If you are new to the city, or looking to relocate, consider moving here. Understandably, because I, like so many others, have been mistreated or lived in an insecure state as a renter. I've lived in the West Coast, in the Middle East, in DC and in Baltimore and Mt Vernon Flats has been the most comfortable, safe renting experience I've had. As a family owned business, they use a familial approach in their work. They are responsive and highly communicative, their prices are more than fair, and they always go over and beyond to simply be nice, non-judgmental, and respectful. After two years at one of their two bedroom apartments, the only reason we moved out is because we had an opportunity to purchase a home that we couldn't turn down. For the record I did not rent these apartments and I do not live in Baltimore, but I was visiting my girl from college who is now doing her PHD at Johns Hopkins (so proud of you!!) and I was so impressed with what I saw and what she told me, I had to write the review. I had just arrived in Baltimore and we went shopping at whole foods (separate review to follow) and spent over $100 on groceries for a week. When we got home we discovered that the fridge was not working. It was Friday night and Jamie called her landlord and left a message. Based on my personal experiences I suggested we take all the groceries to another friend in town, before they go bad. Before we even finished this conversation , the landlord called back. This was Friday night and he arrived one hour later with a mini fridge to store our products, I was really impressed. On Monday morning a brand new fridge was delivered to Jamie's apartment. In SF I have lived in a few small buildings which were owned by families and private parties, usually assistance and service were nonexistent. I ember once it took me 2 weeks to get a hold of my land ladies dagger who told me that her mom is sick and she lives in China! I had to pay $200 for a plumber and was never reimbursed. So after what i experienced here, I felt the need to Yelp it to the world. Of course I was not surprised that they already had some positive reviews on here, but they need more! besides that, my Friend's apartment is really nice and her kitchen is in great order. All the cabinets are real wood and look new. I don't know Baltimore really well, but I love the Mt Vernon neighborhood. I am from California and I need good coffee, there is like 5 coffee shops within 2 blocks of hear (can you tell I already drank my mocha??)... There is awesome museums and galleries in this area and my friend takes a shuttle to hopkins. I arrived on Amtrak from New york and we walked to the apartment building (passing 4 coffee shops on the way!) and when i left for cali I rode the lightrail (one block from the apartment) straight inside the BWI airport! 2 thumbs up! read more

I highly recommend Mt. Vernon Flats. My apartment was clean and the building is well-maintained. It's a family-owned business and the owners are extremely responsive--all I had to do was email if I needed some maintenance done and Misha would be there whenever it was convenient (they are great about working with your schedule.) Great little quirks in these old buildings make each unit charming and unique--my place had lovely exposed brick in the kitchen and a wonderfully classic claw foot bathtub. I'm a grad student and I work from home three days a week; the apartment was quiet and nice to study and write in. The price and lease terms are very reasonable. My apartment had a wonderfully large bedroom, and plenty of storage space (with additional space in the basement.) In one of the two buildings there is a laundry facility in the basement; in my building we were lucky to have an in-unit washer/dryer that worked surprisingly well. I loved the in-unit water heater; you literally can't run out of hot water. The appliances worked well and were in good repair. Lots of light in the kitchen and bedrooms; windows insulated surprisingly well for an older building. The location is wonderful if you use public transit because it's a 15-minute walk to Penn Station, a 3-minute walk to the light rail, and a 5-minute walk to the Charm City Circulator. You can also walk to businesses on Charles Street in about 10 minutes, downtown in about 20 minutes, and to the Inner Harbor or Camden Yards in 25 or 30. There are a few specialty grocery stores around; I frequented Eddie's (about a 10-minute walk) and the Fresh n' Green on Charles St. (about a 15-minute walk.) Also easy to walk to the Pratt Library main branch, the Walters Art Museum, the Maryland Historical Society, several historic buildings and churches, the Washington Monument in the center of the park, and more. The Mt. Vernon neighborhood is a great place to be for restaurants, coffee shops, art stores, and events (for example, the book fair and concerts in the park.) It's easy to get to other parts of the city, but I rarely felt the need to leave the neighborhood other than for work. You can find a few gems in this neighborhood, but the superior management at Mt. Vernon Flats makes it stand out above the rest. I only moved because I had to relocate from Baltimore; otherwise I would have very much looked forward to staying in this building for a long time. read more

I lived at Mt. Vernon Flats for over 2 years and it was my favorite apartment that I lived in Baltimore. My apartment had the character and charm that you love and want when you live in a historic city: high ceilings, fireplace (mine didn't work, but it was nice to have that detail), exposed brick in the kitchen, wood floors, huge doors. The location is absolutely ideal to be able to walk to most things without a problem. However, it does border Howard St which can bring some characters in the middle of the night and it can be quite noisy. The landlords were always very attentive if there was ever a problem and were also quick to fix something or provide a solution. I was truly sad to leave this building and would have stayed if I weren't moving across the country! Trust me, I've lived in some crappy places in Baltimore with landlords who don't care at all, so if you have a chance to live here take it! read more

Roman is the host of hosts! Coming to Baltimore for major cancer surgery (with sons to help, rotating), I felt I had landed in the embrace of extended family. His cheery, mod condo was perfect for recuperation, from the deeply comfy Queen bed (already checked the mfr. with him to get one for home) to the easy operating shades and all needed amenities. Had no problem navigating the wide, carpeted stairs with landing and sturdy banisters. Everything works in the well-equipped easy-clean, compact kitchenette with ready snacks and condiments. The pull-out LR couch is decorative and entirely adequate for one or two. He even loaned us an extra folding pillow sleeping surface for the few days all three , of us were together. He's seemingly available at all times (lives nearby) - responds zippy quick - but unobtrusive when you don't need help . He tolerated our constantly changing schedule with great kindness (hard to plan around surgery!). The two TVS allowed for variable viewing tastes (the huge Apple TV downstairs was a blast) and my son enjoyed biking when I was sleeping - so many nice, safe areas nearby to explore. Off-street parking, basement washer dryer and storage as needed. Nice and quiet too. Saved us a ton of money! When I got the all-clear cancer-wise on our last day, he hugged me with shared joy. Highly, highly recommended! Go, Roman! PS You might want to bring your own no-skid tub mat and/or portable grab bar if you're unsteady on your feet.
