This review is for the item drop off drive thru area in the back. I have been here a few times to use the drop off option and it seems the lines are not as bad as they use to be, I feel like they do a really good job at keeping the pace and things orderly so that people don't have to wait too long. The gentleman that helped me was friendly and helpful, The signs make it easy to know where to go and where to stop. Way to go Goodwill team! You are appreciated. read more

Too expensive, does not feel community driven in the least, the floors a mess, and the cashiers are too busy talking to eachother to ring up customers. I understand that items that dont sell on monday get sent to the outlet or thrown in the compactor, it's just a shame there is no care or consideration for the needs of the locals. Great place. Used stuff. Vintage stuff. Lotsa stuff. Keeping it outta landfills. Really you could set up your entire household with the reasonably priced used stuff here. And it goes to a good cause. Goodwill is the "go-to" in MtVernon, now that Value Village is gone. At least 3/4 of my clothes are from goodwill. Keeps me well-dressed. Nice that it's near a community college. I imagine much of the stuff here is donated by college students moving on to other colleges. Or countries. I've found pretty cool things here. read more

I dunno... I usually love a good diamond in the rough hunt, but it feels like this Good Will almost takes advantage of the fact that Seattle culture embraces the green savvyness of utilizing rehomed and repurposed clothing. I found some things I was really interested in but... I can buy a brand new dress that doesn't have thrift store smell and a questionable history for $24. I can also buy a quality brand new jacket at Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, or many of the other discount clothing stores that offer brand names items, instead of paying $60 at Good Will on one! I almost felt that if I was going to pay some of the high asking prices that I would rather go online to a resale app where you know the seller, can get some background on the item and know that the item hasn't gone through the massive sorting process with tons of other items that involves lots of hands and who knows what dirty container boxes that arn't handled gently and are exposed to all sorts of weather that can add wear n' tear to the items. It also seemed as though whoever was pricing these items were somewhat biased and not well rounded in their knowledge of the various brands' values. This was not a Good Will Boutique. This was a standard Good Will with lots of random stuff, some of which was kind of disheveled, outdated and came with that good ol' Thrift Store musk. I did snag a couple good deals that were marked 50% for the color for the color of the day deal, but would not have otherwise spent the money that they were originally priced at. Was happy with my finds, but overall not happy with the prices. Don't know if I will waste my time to return to this location. read more

This Goodwill is too small with not much selection. They did have quite a bit of furniture which was nice. Since the format of the store is so small though, all the racks seem condensed and/or kind of tight with clothes. So really the store is small but with a lot jammed on a few racks per department. So, when you go to pull one item out, the hanger gets caught on something else or you end up making something else fall off the hanger. I also found the prices to be a bit higher than more GWs. But the for me it seems the further South you go or the closer you get to Seattle, the higher the prices. The men's shoes also always seem picked over. Honestly though, I would rather come here than the Value Village close by even though they generally have more merchandise. The people are friendly though and are more than happy to open up another register if like three people in line. read more

The leader of thrift stores, Goodwill never fails to consistently offer customers those random items that you didn't think you were going to buy that day. Some things that are great about this place is the selection of items that rotate often. If you go everyday, you'll still find new things. Their workers are super helpful and friendly even though they certainly deal with a lot of random mischief and resorting of items. Some things that I'm not a super big fan of is their store layout, especially in the tool section, which happens to be one of their more popular sections. Let's just say you have to get real close, especially with carts, on a busy day, which kind of distracts from shopping. Also, some of their products are not priced fairly. For example, $15 for a hanging basket that you can get for $5 at Fred Meyers? There are many more examples of that... but if you've got the price is right skills and know the value of things, you'll be just fine. Nonetheless, this Goodwill is amazing and I highly recommend it to all thrifters out there. read more

The deals here are pretty amazing. As far as thrift stores go this is the best in the area. The customer service is great they helped me find what I was looking for very quickly. "They certainly want a lot of money for stuff that they got for free." a fellow shopper said that to me today when I visited. I shopped there (past tense) because I have a limited budget and I'd take a chance on someone else's castoffs rather than pay full price. I was just there today and saw a cheap box fan ($20) - I KNOW I can buy a new one at Home depot for $26. Why would I take the chance when the prices are so close? I saw a small frying pan in pretty good shape ($10). I saw it elsewhere new for $15. There are no bargains there anymore. Don't bother. You won't see me back there. read more

This Goodwill location isn't the easiest to find. You can see it clearly from I-5 but you can't see it from surface streets. There's a small sign at the driveway entrance. Just be prepared to not find it your first time out. It's less than 5 minutes from the College Way freeway exit/entrance. There's plenty of parking at this location. Tons of parking, in fact. The drop-off bay is a straight shot. The store has always been tidy during my visits and it seems well managed and I haven't encountered a cranky customer service person thus far. I always feel good supporting Goodwill. read more

This goodwill has quality standards when you drop off your free items for them to make money off of. I took a children's leather recliner with a built in blue tooth stereo and the guy told me they didn't want it. Also, their prices are outrageous. I won't be back here. read more

This is a pretty nice Goodwill location. The store is clean and pretty well organized. Bathrooms were clean too! There was a pretty good selection and variety of items. The day I was there, it was a fairly busy afternoon. Some of the customers and even some of the staff putting items out on the shelves were a bit rude and pushy. Overall, though, customer service was not bad. The cashier was friendly and I interacted with a couple other employees who were very nice. Prices are hit or miss. Goodwill stores have an odd pricing system. The regular colored tag items can be great deals. If they arbitrarily decide that something is "fashionable" or "collectible" they jack the price wayyyy up. More than what you would want to pay at a thrift store. I am not sure how they determine what items get a jacked up price since you can find items just as good, or sometimes better/more valuable/etc...out with the rest of the other regular tag items. That is my main problem with Goodwill pricing, but that is not specific to this location alone. This location is a nice stop if you are in the area, especially during some of their sales. read more

We asked to put a couch on hold, and the employee told us it would be on hold for 24 hours. We then left to get our truck and rearrange the living room. 2 hours later, we returned with the truck and found that the couch had been moved to the back, and sold to a different customer. They sold our on-hold item out from under us, and claimed "Oh well you left the store, so we took it off hold". The manager, Craig, told us he was sorry, but couldn't do anything about it. YES you COULD! You apologize to the other family and tell them "it was promised to another customer shortly before you came in and we are completely in the wrong". Instead, he offered US, the customers who were lied to, a discount on another chair. Never buying from here again, it's absolutely unacceptable to cheat people like that. read more

This Goodwill is way overpriced. I can give you a prime example: I found a pair of nice sheets there that had been from Target. They didn't have tags, but the reason I know they were from Target is because they were priced $25 for the top sheet and $25 for the bottom sheet. I thought that surely this must be a mistake, so I took them up to a person at the counter and she told me that was the correct price, and it was because, even though they didn't have tags, they had been donated by Target. Okay, $50 for a set of sheets at the Goodwill?! And you know that Target took a corporate write-off for donating those sheets.... But this is how the Goodwill works-- they get tons of free donations and then overprice them and sell them to (poor) people. Amid the controversial background of Goodwill Industies--a million dollars embezzled by the CEO in Missouri, paying some CEOs half a million salary per year, paying their workers minimally, even paying developmentally delayed workers under minimum wage-- this just seems grotesque to me. I remember when I was a kid the Goodwill was a pretty good organization, my mom gave all her stuff to them when she donated. Now I would say it's not a good place to shop, and not a good place to donate to. At home, I give all my stuff to Habitat for Humanity. And, by the way, I had to re-write this review because my previous one was taken down. I guess I had included too many facts from a news source about how Goodwill Industries is unethical. read more

Goodwill is becoming expensive like value village. This is free items you are receiving & to jack up prices when ross is1/2 the price. I just dont get it. You also put collectable price tags on current items. When I prove it they just shrug there shoulders. Your pricing makes no sense. Something new has a tag 19.99 u price it 6.99? You price target clearance items at 50 perc. It didnt sell at target for 75 perc so? Cant even have fun looking for bargains cause you look at ebay for everything and mis price!! You over price so people buy 1.79 on mondays! When if you lowered prices youd get more on 50 perc off days. read more

The people are this location are nice but appear frustrated and unhappy. The store is very open but it isn't very clean and everything is cluttered. Many of the video games here get stolen as I find many boxes on the shelves with no discs in them, but seeing how high the prices are, there is an explanation. There isn't much security if any and the place feels trashy. There are many new items that feel like they didn't make it elsewhere and have a last chance here. Many of the prices are over what you will find on the international market online. The way the customer checkout line is set up, congests the book and jewelry area at times and limits the ability to shop in these sections. The jewelry section does not have a person allocated to it so finding someone to help you in that department usually means standing in the checkout line and waiting until you can speak with a cashier. The place does not feel well managed. Many of the items are just piled onto shelves which gives the impression that you will be paying a low price, but digging through a pile reveals prices of $9.99 and higher price tags. Higher value items should be kept in a more secure location. The jewelry department is secure but filled with junk jewelry just because it's jewelry and smaller more valuable items are on the shelves which are easily stollen. The board game boxes are taped and should be rubber-banded closed so customers can check for missing pieces, the tape winds up tearing the boxes and damaging the items. I have mentioned this to employees and they shrug their shoulders and say, "That is what we are told to do." There are so many coffee cups and dishes piled into shelves that you cannot see them all without shuffling them around and using the floor, risking breaking. The displays are horrible. The pricing is the highest for the thrift stores in the area but it is more like what a Dollar Tree might feel like if it were undermanned and in a bad part of town. This place could be turned around with better management, organization, and more appropriate pricing for a thrift store. They do not offer a military discount but instead have a "veteran's discount day" on Wednesdays. This is a bad idea, whoever came up with that one. The toy section is a horrible mess most of the time as people are allowed if not encouraged to let their children play in it like a day care. I was once shot in the eye by a nerf bullet where several children were having a nerf battle as they ran around the store, employees walked by but didn't stop it. I once found a large package of adult sexual dice in the toy section, which I purchased but it was inappropriate and clearly whoever bagged it up and labeled it "toy" wasn't really paying attention, didn't care, or thought it was humorous. I feel sorry for the people who work here. There are often many sick people here with wet coughs. When we go here, we move through the store quickly as with a purpose and then get out. I do not recommend this location. Other Goodwill locations are MUCH better. read more

I often avoid Goodwill, not because I am a snob or that I am "above it", it's simply because I grew up going to these stores all the time with my mother (who was single and doing her damnedest to provide for me). For me, it's that industrial smell they use to clean the clothes... the smell hasn't changed in 40 years! Not a pleasant reminder for me...ANYWAY, I came to this store to hunt for furniture that I could restore (see I am not a snob..just resourceful). The store is very nice. You can shop here with integrity and find a nice range of quality stuff. I didn't find what I was looking for but I did have a nice visit. The employees were nice and the place was clean and respectable. I'll probably be back one of the days. Good experience overall. read more

I don't normally feel compelled to write a review, but I was sorely disappointed during my recent trip to this Goodwill. Why? Because the prices on some things are completely outrageous. I found a scarf priced at $30; sure, it was wool and made in Kashmir, but there were moth holes in it. I also saw a Northface jacket whose inner lining was peeling for $13. I think this Goodwill is forgetting what it is supposed to be - a thrift store and not a consignment or vintage/antique shop. Quality control is a bit lacking too. read more

It's a beautiful new store! But with change comes change. This Good Will has gotten expensive. Not a lot of big deals to be had, although there is potential to come away a happy shopper. Shop whatever discount day works best for you and keep on eye on the price tags. Recently I had my car serviced at the local auto dealer and had nothing to do for several hours. The dealer provides courtesy vans to take people to work or shopping while they wait, so I asked the driver to take me to the best thrift store in town. That's how I ended up at GW. How lucky that I arrived there on the half-price day for ladies pants. ( I didn't even know that thrift stores had sales.) Well, I did need some jeans to wear around the farm, so I started looking. I couldn't believe the selection. Within a few minutes I had 10 items in my cart. Off to the dressing rooms, which weren't Macy's quality but were perfectly adequate. Found a few pairs of jeans that I liked, went back to the racks, found another 10 pairs and back to the dressing rooms. Repeated this several times, and was surprised that I ended up with 12 different pairs in my "YES" pile. Well, that was too many, so I tried them all back on for a second, more scrutinized fitting, and was able to narrow it down to 8 pairs. I had tried on so many different brands that I now know which varieties fit me best, so next time I can select based on both size and brand, which will be a time saver in the future. But the best part -- I got 8 pairs of jeans, all in excellent condition or nearly new, and my final bill was $32!!!! That's less than I've ever paid at Kohls or Marshalls for even one pair of jeans. That was over a year ago, and I still haven't worn out all those jeans. But this did turn me into a dedicated thrift store junkie. read more

My friend and I took some donation items to the store right as the drop off site was closing up but the manager allowed us to leave it. After returning home we realized that there was a couple items we had used for packing that we had forgotten. We returned to the store and the manager went out of her way to find the box the items were in. While waiting for Sue the manager, I noticed that the store is much more organized and very clean. Very impressed with the manager and her above and beyond attitude for customer service. So if you want to go "thrifting" I would advise that this the people and the place is your bet bet. read more

We purchased a great, vintage dining room set and two lovely rocking chairs, all in great condition for a great price! Eric, the manager was wonderful to work with. But best of all, we had the opportunity to once again experience the best employee at the store - Jayantha! He looked through the back of the store to see if there was a leaf to the table - and found it! - ensured that our items were set aside carefully and marked as sold, when sold - taped the rocking chairs so that no one could just sit in them and perhaps soil or break them - and was the most courteous person in every way. He helped load all of it into our van so that every piece was secure. This was not the first time we have experienced such great customer service from him. Previously, we had bought a large amount of chinaware - vintage - and he wrapped every single piece perfectly for us. They all got home unscratched and unbroken. But it is his attitude and authentic desire to do the best for each customer in a friendly, pleasant, honest way that is really to be commended. Goodwill could not have a better employee! .
