Must say finding a giant can of hot dogs called BIG FRANKS made my morning.... This tiny thrift store may not have had great merchandise however the can food section was absolutly priceless. I suggest if you happen to be in downtown Burlington stop by and look around and if you need a BIG FRANK your in the right place..... Happiness does come in cans people! read more

This store used to be full of outdated clothing and items I wouldn't want in my house. Now it is amazing! It was completely remodeled in September and has a whole new look and feel to it! I volunteer here and every day we get so many compliments of how clean the store is, how nice the clothing is, how organized the merchandise is, and how much the customers appreciate the small thrift store with great prices. Like any thrift store, each day new merchandise is out out, so there is always new treasures to find. Parking can be difficult, but there are two public parking lots within the block of the store for shoppers, if the street parking is full. There are also three great restaurants within a block and food is very good at whichever one you choose. Come discover a treasure and take it home! We have had shoppers from as far away as Seattle, Kamloops, BC, and the San Juan Islands. read more

We stopped at this little thrift store on the way back to Seattle from Vancouver. I usually don't love the smaller thrift shops, but this one was clean and well maintained. Spruced Up is a small, fairly crowded store. There's seasonal merchandise at the front, a few racks of clothing and shoes (mostly women's), and then housewares and toys at the back. They also had a 50-cent rack out front that's worth perusing if you're looking for stuff to craft or cut up for costumes. The clothing selection wasn't great - a limited selection of stuff that's dated but not yet vintage, and not especially great labels or designers. The housewares were better, mostly in good shape and reasonably priced. I found a new "fashion emergency kit" for $1.50 that sells for $10 on Amazon, which will come in handy. When we drove up, we thought the "vegetarian foods" sign under the store sign was just a funny coincidence. But no, there's a fridge and a shelf in the very back that's full of canned vegetarian "meats." According to the website, the store is a 7th-Day Adventist outreach program and the vegetarian food thing is part of that. Soooo I guess if you're in need of veggie meat patties, they can hook you up with that too? Like many small thrift stores, this place was SUPER quiet. A customer was having a long conversation with the cashier that was clearly audible throughout the store, which made us self-conscious about talking. I feel uncomfortable in stores where I'm the only customer and the cashier watches me the whole time and comments on anything I touch, and this place had that kind of feeling for me. When I went to pay, the cashier said, "Is this ALL you're getting?" in a critical tone. Hey, you stock more things I want to buy and I'll get more! There aren't too many other thrift stores in this town, so it's worth stopping if you're on the road and want to take a break and stretch your legs, but probably not one that I'll make a destination. read more

Stopped in for the first time a couple of days ago and was pleasantly surprised ! They had so much good stuff. I ended up getting a bunch of toys for my daughter and a T-shirt for myself. Prices are just right and the staff is super friendly. Will be going back soon. read more

The only reasons this thrift store doesn't get 5-stars is because it's so tiny and doesn't offer a military/veteran discount. Still, good things come in small packages and this place is a good thing. The people here are very nice, I think they are mostly volunteers, so THANK YOU! The pricing here is just about the best in the area and I am a SERIOUS thrifter. Considering the location on Fairhaven Avenue, there is no excuse for the larger thrift stores to charge what they do (HIGH PRICES) compared to this place. :) There is always some fun special going on and it isn't based on the color tag, it's based on whether the item you are wanting has that color on it ANYWHERE, 50% off if your item has RED on it..anywhere, 50% off everything that has BLUE on it...anywhere, etc. Outside they have special deals for their sidewalk sale too, last minute deals. For a tiny store, they have just about everything aside from large items and electronics. The displays are always VERY nice and make this feel more like a classy store than a thrift store. This location is not open on Fridays or the weekend. Still, the prices are low enough that they cycle through items all the time and you can go in every week and find a new selection. It's incredibly clean and is very close to setting the standard for the way a thrift store should be. Offer a veteran discount and I might just change this 4-star rating to a 5. read more
