I don't know why we're reviewing a subway station, but this one is okay. Manhattan is a quick trip and the platform usually not too crowded.

this station is usually hot and dirty and yellow, just like it's two star rating. It could use some entertainment.

"New York City's tallest subway station will soon have elevators…read more.. "The Smith-9th Street stop in Gowanus -- the tallest station in the city and one of the tallest in the world -- rises nearly 90 feet above ground. It lacks elevators and efficient escalators, making accessibility difficult for many New Yorkers, including people with disabilities, seniors and commuters carrying packages." "That's about to change. State Sen. Andrew Gounardes, who represents the area, said the station will get elevators as part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's approved $68.4 billion capital plan from 2025-2029" If ever a train station needed a major facelift, it this station. Talk about not in ADA compliance, hardly any seating on the platform and decrepit conditions. But here's something's to consider while we wait for elevators: 1. Exercise: yes, taking my "beloved "( and that is laced with so much sarcasm) R train and climbing 6 flights of stairs does make my Apple Watch very happy. Imagine my steps count, heart rate, calories burned.. off the charts! Wait it gets better! 2. More exercise! Remember the verse in the song " Spinning Wheel" by 3 Dog Night: " What goes up, must come down..????" Yes, if you need to exit at the Smith-9th Street exit, there are 4 flights of steps to climb down. There are escalators.. uh uh.. but they're going up. 3. Decrepit conditions: when you are climbing down those stairs, not a pretty sight my friends. Smile and pretend you are on a beach.. 4. Andy Byford: Remember him? Ex MTA tmcommissioner ?? I sure do. In fact, I attended a conference he gave in one of the Bay Ridge schools. He had a lot of great ideas.. like why are there bus routes that don't serve communities the way they should, and oh yes, the renovation of Smith and 9th...that was six years ago. "Andy Byford left his role as New York City Transit President in January 2020 because a state-led reorganization of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority scaled back his duties, centralizing major projects and leaving him sidelined from core decision-making. He also cited a tense, intolerable working relationship with then-Governor Andrew Cuomo, noting he was frequently undermined, excluded from key operational meetings, and bypassed by the governor's office. " 5. Waiting game: how and why is it taking this long to perform a major overhaul to a station that serves roughly 2.9 million riders? Questions, plans, renovations.. More to come, in the meantime I know my exercise goals are reachable at this station.

Read below, a lot but details explain their failure and bad business practices. On Tuesday May 23rd, 2023, Best Trails and Travels located on 5 Sigourney Street Brooklyn NY 11231 sent a charter confirmation to the Southern Queens Park Association [SQPA] for a 56 Passenger Coach Bus for date of service starting 5/25/2023 at 6:15am and ending 5/25/23: drop off time at 4:00pm. Driver Shabazz was noted as the bus operator of the passenger coach that day. Sales Representative Nadia booked Charter #91638 with Dispatch #185149. As it is procedure, SQPA inform Best Trails we are a 501©(3), and that payments can only be made through check or ACH Payment. Best Trail and Travel notified us that they would only be taking certified checks and that ACH Payment would be the best option for them. The fiscal department at SQPA was then notified to process the payment. Once the payment was processed, Best Trails and Travel was then notified by director of community schools Herman Turner. Best Trails and Travels then verbally confirmed that they will be there on Thursday Morning for the students, for pick up, and the final drop off at I.S 008 108-35 167th Street Jamaica NY 11433. On Thursday May 25th 2023, at approximately 6:15am, our students were picked up from: I.S 008 108-35 167th Street Jamaica NY 11433. They were dropped off to: Honors Haven located at 1195 Arrowhead Road NY 12428. At approximately 11:30am, we SQPA was notified that Best Trails and Travels would no longer be taking our children back to the final drop off location due to lack of payment. The Fiscal Department at SQPA was then notified about the situation. The fiscal department then sent proof of ACH Payment for the Charter Company. Best Trails and Travels then transferred us to yet another sales representative named Pru, that also stated they will not be bringing the children back on the charter with the Driver Shabazz. Operations Manager Robert Shields, who was notified of the situation confirmed that our students will be stranded and that their driver was leaving them at Honor Haven. Showing no interest in the wellness and safety of the students, Mr. Shields demanded that we pay using a credit or debit card most promptly. Shields' repeatedly stating that our children would be left indefinitely, mentioned that the SQPA was in contract and that we should have had the payment sent over at an earlier date. Shields then demanded once more that we make a payment by credit or debit card immediately with threatening tones. When asked why the bus was sent over if the verbal agreement was not enough, Shield's stated "My driver is coming back." Shields then hung up the phone and all available staff then started to assist in finding other bus companies that can assist us because our students were now being left stranded over two hours away from home with no direct form of transportation. At approximately 2pm, we received another call from a female Representative from Best Trails and Travels that they can confirm that the payment was made to the right account and that they were no longer going to leave our children stranded. They apologized for the behavior of Mr. Robert Shields and our children were able to come home.
