Broadway Junction station serves five subway services (A/C, J/Z, and L) and numerous buses, acting as a major transfer point in the NYC Transit system. It is under construction (always), but I see growth. This accessible, dynamic transit hub and economic center creates business, transit access and equity, inclusive growth, and workforce development. I love this station. Yes it's constantly moving, however it's easy to navigate for transfers to Manhattan, Queens, East New York, Brownsville, and Canarsie. You can even connect here for the MTA A-train to JFK airport. NYPD are present and great with directions. This is one of the few stations with a live customer service rep previously known as a "token booth clerk" on the premises 24/7. read more

For my most recent trip out to NYC, I was staying at a nearby hotel. I came through here a couple of times. This was a large old station serving the A, C, J, Z, and L lines. The platform for A and C were underground, while the others were on elevated platforms. It was one of the dirtier stations that could use a good scrubbing or renovation. It was a pretty busy station as there were people coming from or heading to JFK Airport. You can get to the airport via A line to Howard Beach. There were a bunch of people hanging around the outside of the station trying to sell car rides. There were a ton of car and bus traffic around the station. Make sure to check before you cross the street. read more

Broadway Junction is an MTA station. It seems big. Lots of connections. Just in a sketchy area. This is tricky getting around the first few times. Has many ways to go here. It serves the A, C, J, L, and Z Trains. This is a popular place to make a transfer. It's named so for being a very important junction. This can get very busy at rush hour so try to avoid this. It has outdoor areas. Sometimes it gets pretty cold. It has a few indoor areas. There's also a police station. It seems to be mostly clean. It's not bad for how busy it is. It is very unsafe and even though there is a police station they seem to not do anything. Waiting on the train should not be so annoying but yet here it's a constant battle. Late nights, the Canarsie-bound L train is held in the station by the Train Dispatcher to allow people connecting from the A (all the way down in the bowels of the earth) to catch it. Remember that. The train waited for you. You didn't "luck out". The MTA made sure you didn't have another 30 mins. added to your commute home. But don't thank the MTA. It'll totally go to their heads and they'll just become smug about it. There's also a police station on the ground level. I've had my laptop registered here. Yes. You can register your electronics with the NYPD so they can track it and return it to you in case of theft. And don't thank the NYPD for that either. You have a jaded aloofness to cultivate in order to appear like a native New Yorker. read more

Broadway junction is one of the largest train hubs in a Brooklyn connecting several train lines and bus routes. It is extremely useful to be able to transfer with trains and buses that reach outer parts of Brooklyn and Queens not to mention the airport. While that is the main positive I have to say it has extreme pitfalls. Ehh-heem *clears throat* if you know the meaning of the word "ratchet" this station embodies it. The stagnation of teenagers that look aimless and hopeless is insane. They stand around and people watch and meet up with fiends instead of taking their *ss to school. The filth that comes out of their mouth... lawd *clutches pearls*. If that isn't enough you are welcome to get a loud, inaudible preaching from a prophet, get your soul saved for Jesus or purchase items from solicitors in the subway. I really, really hate this station because of it's location and the some of the sketchy people you find here most of the time. It's horribly overrun by really obnoxious high-schoolers who act like their parents did not properly teach them to behave in a public setting. (Although, I'm sure they did.) The neighborhood itself is equally sketchy. Plus side, it's a good place to transfer to a variety of trains and scenery wise you get to see everything while you are riding the really long, tall escalator to the top. Honestly though, it's always, always packed and the last time I was there it was with my husband and then 18 month old. I felt very unsafe there with the amount of people on the platform and the type of people acting ignorant on that warm summer day. Bottomline, I absolutely take great liberty to avoid this place if I can. I hate it here. read more

Formerly known as East New York, 1946-2003 (source: Wikipedia) This station is a major hub connecting L, A, C, J, Z trains to/from Brooklyn- Queens into Manhattan as it enables strap hangers travel options. Whenever I make my connection from A train to L train it is one strenuous physical exercise and all about timing. The good thing about the L train is equipped with "minutes for next train" and "minutes for following train" for both audio and visual LED announcements, thus running up the long upward escalator followed by two stairs and one mezzanine is a workout that takes a hefty toll. There are two long upward escalators, one long downward escalator, one long stairway, and mezzanine overpasses for the Manhattan bound L train which can be combined extremely intimidating. When connecting from the L train to A, I using jog downward by stairs rather than moving an eternity on the turtle escalator. The L train is elevated above the ground while all others are underground. At the Manhattan bound L train elevated platform in the distance in plain sight visible is the Evergreens Cemetery and East New York Rail Yard. There are numerous street peddlers at the mezzanine by the J and Z trains selling cold Churros with sugar, but no chocolate. Peddlers also include Quenepas (Spanish limes) or mangos cut into a flower. There is no shortage of religious garb ranting their teachings either or distributing printed version in pamphlets. It connects up to the L, A/C and the J/Z lines. You can get phone reception on the L & the J platforms since they're outside. Also, you can see the Atlantic Avenue subway station from here and see a nice view of Brooklyn on the L platform. The cops do have a decent presence here but watch out for the swarm of religious nuts trying to convert you. They're particularly bad when you head to the escalator to exit or go to the A/C platform. Also, sometimes they don't bother having the down escalator on so you have a choice between the steep non-moving escalator or the steep stairs with some breaks in the path so maybe you won't fall to your instant death if you stumble. Cleanliness is something to be desired but you could do a lot worse. read more

I wish I could move to avoid this station (A, C, J, L train stop), but it's the only way for me to transfer from the L train to the A train without leaving Brooklyn. This high traffic station, particularly during the morning and evening rush hour, is insane. Keep your children close and if you can carry your toddler, because I fear that they'd be trampled by people rushing to and fro trains. Please be advised that there is some work being done on the J train staircases, so expect a delay in exiting the platform. The escalators work one day and they're out the next. Thankfully, they do their best to have at least one up escalator while folks can use the adjacent stairs to go down. Transit Police Station 33 is positioned in-house, which is convenient for safety reasons but they're not visible on the actual platforms. With the installation of the digital counters, it is easier to wager whether to wait on the express or local train to arrive at your destination. As far as cleanliness, no complaints. I have not personally seen a rat, but it doesn't mean that they are nonexistent. You will see an occasional pigeon or two flying around lol. read more

This is the station where I transfer for the J/Z after taking the L from the East 105th St station in Summer 2015. I only have to walk two levels down for the J/Z. The L line trains are up-to-date; they enter the station smoothly. The J/Z line, on the other hand, uses old, worn-down trains at times. The cars enter and leave the station slowly due to the numerous switches and the short distance to Alabama Ave station. One can expect passengers holding doors when the train is about to departure. read more

This location is always packed but it's great they have a Police station in the station because there are some fools in this area. They've rebooted outside of the station and hopefully will continue on making further improvements to this area. Would be nice to see some plants or something to make it look more friendly and inviting lol. But who am I kidding? We all know certain neighborhoods get the improvements first. read more

Broadway Junction stop usually does suck but I mean It helps me at least transfer from L train to A with no problems. I always do this, I mean it is cool but it is okay especially late at night. Easier access than the other way to get to and from where I need to go. Escalator usually does not work, I agree coming from the L to the A train but I walk most of the time anyway. They have bathrooms at this station, that is cool, better than most stations. read more

Getting to north Brooklyn from anywhere else in Brooklyn is a pain in the ass!! You either have to go to Manhattan, or go to Broadway Junction. The stairs between the A/C and the rest of the lines are extremely precipitous. Especially if you are drunk and have big feet. (I am drunk 75% of the time I'm in this station, and I have big feet 100% of the time.) I have to slowly walk down the stairs so that I don't fall and die. By the time I get to the platform, the train will have just left and then I have to wait another 10+ minutes. At least there's reception on the L platform? read more

Not a fan of this station. Yeah, sure, it gets me where I need to go. Here you can transfer from the L to the A/C and the JMZ lines. The stained glass decor helps, but not that much. Not when it's in the middle of summertime and the station is sweltering. Gross. If you're in Ridgewood, and you need to get to downtown Brooklyn, take the B38 or the B26. It's faster. Trust me on this. You're welcome. Most of all, the single solitary star is for all the religious nuts that loiter the Broadway Junction stop. One lady approached me to talk about Jesus. It's time to give MTA some credit. Props for extending service eastbound to otherwise remote areas of Brooklyn. Broadway-Junction as the name suggests, major juncture making it one of the major hubs giving riders access to the A C L and don't forget the Jay-Z, I meant J Z trains. Here you can do the rare Brooklyn to Queens train direct. Let's be honest, do you really want to travel through Manhattan and half of Queens in order to get to Jamaica? Didn't think so! read more

I am usually here at least 2 days a week transferring between the 8h Avenue lines and the J train. There is an NYPD post on the lower level where the A,C trains are. On the above ground parts of the station you see many cops around up to as many as 20 officers. There is a newsstand where one can get newspapers and snacks. Thanks to modern technology there is now a display by the above ground part where you can see when the next train is arriving if you can figure out how to touch the screen. Currently the only exits out of the system are at the lower level where one goes for the A,C train but there used to be an exit on the J train platforms. read more

Super busy Station as it connects the A, L, J, and M lines. The transfer between the A and the L takes at least a few minutes usually just because it is so busy. It's. But if a walk from the L to the A or vice versa. The L platform is also outdoors which is great for cell phone reception, not so great for waiting in adverse weather. I've passed thru this station at all hours and there never seems to not have a crowd. There's also a transit precint at this stop so there are usually always a police presence. They have restrooms here too but they are filthly. There's a "candy store" here too by the L and J and M platform waiting area. They have snacks and drinks. read more

This is by the far the dirtiest train station I have ever encountered. The A, C and J are overcrowded. The A train always has delays and it smells extremely funky. Between the strong odor and the unruly school kids I would avoid this train station like the plague. read more

This is the best place to get some standup reading done, especially since the A line introduced that new feature where it always arrives twenty minutes after you get to the platform! Bring a really long book and your natural love of standing. Also, MTA BJ (my little nickname for this waiting enthusiast's enclave) has a really unique viewing platform feature. If you're waiting for the L train to Manhattan, you have a nice view of the graveyard so you can contemplate what you're really waiting for... and how worth it this all really is! read more

This train station is by far the worst train station that exists. You need to plan a whole hour ahead to get anywhere on time, an hour and a half ahead of you really want to be on time for work. All in all I need to plan 3 hours ahead for a trip that should be a hour long if I don't want to get fired. Thanks MTA, you seem to surprise me everyday with the bullshit you pull on a day to day basis. Always keeping me on my toes. The MTA increases the card fare while the services worsens. read more

Beware of the scamming cab drivers who will over price u for no reason. It's an ok Train Station. Busy with people either selling food or religious articles. Police and Military Officers are here at times. There is a Kisok Box near the A Train now which wasn't there before. They help to monitor when the trains are coming which is very convenient. There 4 different trains that comes in an out of this station on a daily basis the L, A, J C and Z Trains. There Buses down below as well. The Station is usually dirty with Garbage and Pigeons flying eating or walking around. I believe they have Wifi there now as most train stations do example Jamaica Station. read more
