It's quite a big station and can be a bit intimidating if it's your first time walking through. Of course you have the main entrance that welcomes you with the station architecture. There's food stalls incase you have a little wait time and wanted something to eat. Starbucks is also located inside. Restroom are scattered but it seemed like the only ones I've found are along the hallway where the tracks are. A big hub where the Amtrak's meets and connects to the metro that takes throughout the city. Coming or going from Palm Springs is my connecting here whenever I'm not driving and dealing with traffic. You can also start here is you want to get around the city with the different color line train. Santa Monica, the valley, Pasadena, Long Beach are all accessible through the station here with the different color metro. There are a lot of tracks so make sure to read the screen where all the stations are marked to know which track your train is at. Not only the train, you can also catch the greyhound bus at this station. Depending on how the tracks run, it's a give or take if they're on time. This past experience, after we left the station heading towards Fullerton, train stopped for a good half hour as there was some kind of delay with the tracks. So you never know what you'll get.

The one great thing about traveling by train is that you really don't need to be there until minutes before the train leaves unlike flying that requires you to go through TSA. I showed up 45 minutes before departure thinking they would open the train door 30 minutes before takeoff. They ended up opening the door 10 minutes before departure which was not enjoyable for all of us standing under the heat. It's very easy to get around here. Once you enter, there are lots of people ready to assist. The hallway leading to the platforms is only a couple minutes walk so even with luggage it's not that crazy. I highly recommend traveling by train to avoid traffic. Best of all, they do have WiFi so you can get work done.

The descend down is a few twist, turns and flights (of stairs)... As well as the journey up naturally. The elevator sometimes is down as are the escalators, but rarely at the same time and usually not for too long. You'll see LA Metro workers about more commonly here as this is a high foot traffic stop if you need any assistance. That cool down breeze coming up from the platform can be intense, but very welcome on warm weather days - hold onto your hats, caps and accessories. They have several kiosk for purchasing Metro Tap cards as well as reloading if you prefer a physical card, but you can also access and reload in the Metro Tap App which also lets you know when the next trains are arriving North West towards North Hollywood or East bound toward Hollywood /Vine Station and beyond. It's large and spacious compared to some other stations - very Hollywood and grand! Q Tip: There isn't parking for this metro location, but there is at North Hollywood as well as Universal Station.

Had to transfer from the A line at the Little Tokyo station to the E line( ends at the Santa Monixa pier). Was easy peasy to do and no additional charge. I'd say the one way trip from Pasadena to Santa Monica took about 90 minutes. A large portion of the trip was via Exposition Blvd. Come on down to Santa Monica via the Metro trains and see how easy it is. You can leave in the afternoon, hit the pier or numerous eateroes and bars within walking distance of the Santa Monica. A famous spot Marilyn Monroe liked is a few minutes walk from the station...the famous Chez Jay . If your'e up for a good walking workout Venice beach is only a 30 minutes south of the rail station. I walked along Ocean Ave to Venice beach and on the return I went barefoot and allowed the fabulous surf to massage my feet. A great day indeed.

The station does pass by a couple of landmarks like Olympic stadium, shrine auditorium, and one of the collages. The scenery to and from is not bad either, I always like looking out the window and notice these things. I did see some homeless people on the train but that pretty normal in this town. I did not experience any overcrowdedness or anybody talking loudly on their phones. When I arrived at the last stop I noticed two metro police at the entrance so that felt good knowing they were visible and ready to help if needed. i did ask them for directions to the airport taking public transportation and they were helpful on that topic. The pier is literally just down and street and you can see it from the station. There is a ramp available for those with wheelchairs, scooters or in my case suitcases haha. On the way to the pier, there are some restaurants including a McDonalds (it is super crowded due to the tourist getting food). There is a super pretty mural across the street from the station (look at my picture for info). Also pro tip; if you are needing to travel to LAX from this location, go to the mural and a little further down there is a bus stop. Wait there for a bus that says 'aviation LAX'. This bus will take you to the airport in about 40 minutes and only cost $1.70 without a tap card. Still cheaper than doing flyaway for $8 or a private shuttle that starts at $25. If you are thrifty like me choose the bus.

There is a Throne public restroom with running water and is relatively clean. It requires you to scan a QR code to get an access code texted to you. It seems to help the restroom cleaner and safe for customers. You can almost always see security and LAPD walking around the street and turnstile areas. This location requires TAP to enter and exit. Plenty of paid parking. There's also restaurants around if you need.

They also recently added those gate entrances to tap out to ensure that everyone had paid for the metro and didn't just jump the turnstiles. Overall a good station that I used frequently. Maybe not as frequently as Universal City since I live directly in between the two but a good one nonetheless.

Metro Green Line…read more This line has changed from a straight shot to or from Redondo to Norwalk. Now you must hop off from the K LINE and exit the LAX drop off just to connect to the green line. It's frustrating but it must be done to get on the green line. Overall, this train is ok compared to the blue and red line. Warning, you will encounter all types of people that are crazy, deranged, violent, smelly, loud, strange, weird etc.. You name it. Overall, it's a solid line for commuting from Point A-B. It's safe pertaining to engineering and train conductors. The people inside determines your experience. Ride at your own risk. Once you are on the Green line, you can expect a 25 minute ride all the way to Norwalk. There is a point from Long Beach Blvd all the way to Lakewood where it has not stops and it is zooming right through. That would be a 5 mile consistent ride without interrupted stops. Overall the Green line is solid.

The station is very clean considering how busy it is with so many people. This station has a very NYC feel to it. There is a large and visible security and police presence which makes this station feel safe. Unlike most Metro stations, you'll see unhoused and sketchy people at this location. However, it feels safe because of the large Police presence. Just my experience.

I think I had three transfers from near Studio City to NoHo to this station to the Blue line the other day... Was kind of cool! Definitely enjoy going green and riding metro when I can. I did here a rumor that the new K (Pink) Line might extend over to here as well at some point which would be pretty great. It's often busy here and the Expo and Blue are constantly running. The Red and Purple lines don't run as frequently as the others and as the day goes on, but it's about a 10 minute wait usually until after 5 PM where things shift and by night maybe every 15 to 30 minutes. I believe eventually Metro and this station will get back to later hours again and eventually run all night. Great Metro staff and the most you'll see at any station other than Union station. You can catch trains and/or exit from through The Bloc shopping center or across the street on the corner of 7th & Flower St.
