This station doesn't have that much going on. It doesn't take long for a train to come. It has two coming pretty often. There's E and then F so it's not long until the next train.

I never quite understand how some people would still choose to litter despite there's literally a trash can right next to you. Dirty tracks littered with garbage as usual. Didn't see a family of rats running on the tracks though. Hahaha, already considering myself lucky today. The newest thing you'll probably see out of the station is the signage indicating the station's name. There's dried up paint peeling off from the cracked walls. Nothing like some sad, dull-looking walls facing you as if this is how an unwelcome hello feels like lol. Surprisingly, there isn't much garbage to be found on the ground. Every few steps you'll see a random piece of paper or some kind of used tissue. I am not saying it is 100% spotless but definitely not the dirtiest either. Not sure if I was expecting garbage to be littered everywhere or something. On the bright side, I peer from the corner of my eye and see that there are the women's and men's restrooms. Now, don't be expecting these restrooms to be too clean though (iykyk). Definitely do consider yourself to be lucky if you still happen to see some toilet paper left over in your stall and the toilet seat to be free of pee stains. The inside of the E trains is surprisingly clean. Can also say the same for the inside of the J/Z trains as nonelook too shabby either. The platforms for E/J/Z trains look spotless. Besides its sorta new looking signage, the only other uplifting thing is the vibrant center art-piece plastered on the wall. It's a bit out of place but in a positive way. As you can see from the rest of the dull-scheme station, it looks awfully sharp especially how new and colorful it seems. The flash of color brings/pops out a distinctive, outstanding comparison.

Try 1993 when I moved out of NYC. When I came back a decade later I was driving. So I looked around and saw a whole heap of stairs and an escalater coming up. "Say my man, is there an elevator." I had to use my street vernacular, I still got it! He directed me across the street. I'm now in the train station , I confidently hopped on the first escalator, I went down to the wrong level and had to come back up to the second level. Of course asking for assistance. It's like an adventure and you are venturing to another country, smell the fragrance and aromas of the food being cooked. Every country that is represented and you find enclave of eateries and shops. It's like a mini United Nations on the 7 Train. -The MTA 7 Train will take you to Citi Field for Mets Game. Get off at Willets Point Station. Also Flushing Meadow Park, and US open as well as other events. -Get off at Main Street- Last stop towards Flushing. Chinatown- Lots of food shopping and dining experience. Don't forget the Sky View Mall-You will see segment of the mall as train heads underground toward Main Street. Just a few descriptions of the stations on the 7 train to whet your appetite. I exited the east side of the service road adjoining the Van Wyck Expressway. Upon exiting there are many shops nearby. I am no stranger to the New York City area as I have visited here several times in the past…read more However, this was my first time at the "Jamaica LIRR (Long Island Railroad) Station". Located roughly 4 miles north of John F. Kennedy International Airport and in the heart of Queens, this is one of the major transfer points to get into through the city and the neighboring boroughs. After a long (5+ hour) flight into JFK Airport, I took the Jamaica AirTrain (from JFK to the LIRR Station). And this was around 11:30pm Eastern Time. However, once we arrived at the station, I used the MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) app that told us exactly where to go. There were even a couple of employees that told us how the payment system works (which was $10 per person as of October 2025). Once we actually arrived to the Jamaica LIRR Station, I must say that this place has a very stark uninviting look to it. Definitely one that I would recommend avoiding during the wee hours of the night. However, there were other "tourists" waiting to connect to Penn Station which all New Yorkers know is in the heart of Manhattan. I only know this since they had several carry-on pieces of luggage as well. The reason for the three stars? This station wreaked of urine and sweat. And if that's not enough, I saw a gentleman urinating directly on the tracks. But the icing on the cake was seeing a big rat crawling on the side of the tracks. Seeing this may make your stomach turn upside down but this is a big metropolitan city and you must expect the unexpected. I am also from a big city (San Francisco) so witnessing this did not gross me out that much. All in all, the "Jamaica LIRR Station" leaves a lot to be desired. But I highly recommend coming here during the commute times or at least before 10:00pm when the vast majority of the general public is already at their destinations. However, the ticket information employee was helpful as well a local that told us exactly which train to take to get to Manhattan. With that said and done, I am giving this subway station just an average three stars.

It was originally built in 1936, as a new station for the Independent Subway System line. My wife and I used this station to do a transfer between the E line (coming from JFK) to the F line (going to Mid-town manhattan). Since we were going in the same direction, we just had to get off the E line, and just wait for the next F train on the same platform. Trains were running every 3 - 6 minutes.

There is no mosaic tile or mosaic name tablet which is very disappointing as I always have a predilection, appreciation and enjoyment looking at these tiles for artisans skilled trade tile setter and the MTA NYC Transit history (no, I am not a transit buff nor a Big Apple history buff). This subway station contains yellow trim line with a black border and small "UNION TURNPIKE" captions below in white lettering on black tiles which is rather unappealing and boring. There are several MTA buses where straphangers are able to connect at this station. The mezzanines level is split in half which is gargantuan and wide making it a challenge for straphangers to connect to Q46 bus line that runs along Union Turnpike. This western half of the mezzanine had its token booth closed and removed, ergo totaling inconvenient. Aggravating to straphangers.
