In spite of my transitions to this station being nerve racking due to there being many travelers in-and-out, it was convenient, a money saver, and a relief because it connected me to the transits enroute to my destinations. I was definitely glad it looked safer than it used to especially as busy as the area is where the overpass goes. The elevators (spilled coffee inside tho, blecchh) were updated, the ramps were user friendly for wheelchairs etc. The view from the platform was surprisingly beautiful and I'm glad I got a chance to catch it at sunset. I did noticed it looked a little deserted, the station that is, so make sure you are prepared if you get there really late.

This subway station has been updated modernized and contains simple architecture keeping with function and operational rather than beauty and ornate. My style is traditional, but I do believe individuals and society must adapt with changing times for updated modernization - at least keep it classic and simple which this subway station maintain. The entrance/exit kiosk is modern, but a classic and very simple appeal glass-and-steel canopies with no lavish modern awnings. The artwork for the station, titled "Perasma I and II; Dappleganger," by Stephen Westfall installed in 2018 consists of 47 laminated glass mural panels in the mezzanine, each with geometric designs. It allows color and natural sunlight to be emitted.

Czech artist Peter Sis designed the 86th St. station's 2004 bright, playful tile mosaics entitled "Happy City," which utilizes large eyes and circles, as well as incorporates stars, buildings, city folk, birds, assorted winged animals, and (my favorite) a flying winged Guggenheim Museum! We had to run to the track, where we accidentally boarded the wrong train. This was also my fault. Upon our return to the city, there was a large phalanx of extremely fit police officers with their pants tucked into combat boots milling near the entrance. We decided that this was also not a good time to loiter and marvel at the architecture, so we departed expeditiously. The only cabs available outside the station are green ones, which my mother refused to take. They generally operate in the Bronx. But when I finally got a cab through the Curb app, it was...green. Lol. Very nice, clean station, and a very nice employee directed us to the correct track.

Considering the area, this station isn't that bad. It serves the F Train. This is the fastest way into Manhattan, faster than any bridge will get you. A notable thing about this is how it looks different from other underground stations. The biggest difference here is the tile. Instead of the usual white, it's orange. This results in there not being as many stains. Overall it looks pretty clean. The smell is very bad like a toilet. It often has a delay. Trains are about to go through an underwater tunnel and often they get backed up. Escalators are here. These are usually out of order. It overall is pretty convenient. It has some problems with delays. The escalators suck and usually aren't working.
