I have used MTI Physical Therapy for two/three separate issues/injuries. Shoulder - Years back, I had a shoulder injury and worked with Michael Okada for about 2 months. He was able to diagnose some improper shoulder mechanics that eventually led to my injury and help me through a training program (and education) to strengthen and essentially re-teach my body to properly displace weight properly. My shoulder strength is much stronger now and I also now strength train with much better form when doing chest and shoulder workouts without the shoulder strain I used to get. Ankle pain - I went in for a Running Analysis with Robin McGuire. Two separate sessions, one for initial review and second for analysis and go forward plan. She was able to help diagnose certain areas that were lacking flexibility and strength that were causing a bit of ankle pain even in shorter 2-3 mile runs. With the training and strength program, it definitely helped me increase my runs and eventually get to the half marathon race I was aiming for 2 months later. Hamstring/Lower Leg Injury - Sadly only a month after my Half Marathon race (July 2025), I badly injured my leg/back due during a furniture moving accident. To the point where I was not even able to walk without intense pain or limping for about 2 weeks. I went back to Robin and we had to completely revamp my physical therapy program, as I still had hopes plans to do a Half Marathon in September, October, and then my first full Marathon in January 2026. Robin worked with me great, lots of education and helping diagnose a deeper variety of issues I had going on with my body mechanics that was beyond just the initial ankle injuries. A training program that modified as my mobility and strength built. Needless to say, I was able to do the two half marathons (first one was power walking), and actually run the entire Marathon in January which is impressive once again considering only 5-6 months prior I couldn't walk. The MTI Bellevue office has great hours and its a nice clean facility, front staff is always professional. Sessions always start on time. I highly recommend MTI Bellevue for any physical therapy and sports needs. I think all the team is great. I highly recommend Robin especially for anyone who is working on foundation/baseline for running. read more

Absolutely Outstanding! I've dealt with patellar instability in my right knee for nearly eight years. Walking down stairs or going long distances was painful, and honestly, I was pretty skeptical that physical therapy would help. But Robin completely changed my mind. From the first session, Robin's expertise, patience, and genuine care were evident. She created a targeted plan to strengthen and stabilize my knee, and over time, I saw real results. I was trying to schedule an appointment on the phone and I have an accent. The receptionist was rude, did not take the time to understand my request, and it felt like I am bothering them with my questions. As the receptionist kept interrupting me, not listening to my scheduling request and scheduling wrong dates and hours, I did not get a good feeling about the situation, thanked her and finished the call without scheduling. I'm sorry that I didn't even get to an appointment stage, but this was stressful and insulting for me and there is no reason that this should be the experience. read more

I came to MTI with knee pain preventing me from running which had lasted almost 1 year. No other doctors or PTs had been able to identify the cause. Robin was the first PT to not dismiss that the root cause of the pain could be coming from my back and gave me effective exercises at addressing this. After a few months of doing these exercises alongside other treatment, the knee pain began to improve and I'm now back to my normal running routine. While the physical therapist here is nice, be very cautious about the surprise bills you might receive. During my first visit in December, I was informed that I only needed to pay a $20 co-pay for each visit. Trusting this information, I continued my treatment for several months. However, in May, I received a shockingly large bill exceeding $1000. It turned out that I was actually required to pay around $100 per visit! When I inquired about this discrepancy, the only explanation I received was, "We didn't figure out the right information about your insurance." This lack of transparency and poor communication regarding billing is unacceptable and has caused me significant stress. I urge potential patients to be extremely careful and make sure they have clear, accurate information about their insurance coverage and costs before committing to treatment at MTI read more

I would not recommend this place due to their shady billing. I had to call twice and emailed them to get through to their billing department. They initially told us in person, that they accept Medicare but after the appointment, they called and said the type of Medicare we have does not qualify and the visit would not be covered. Why falsely claim they accept it and not thoroughly check and confirm before our scheduled visit? Now they're arguing it's our fault that we didn't do our research and their excuse was they were too busy to confirm coverage. How is that fair? I would stay away from this place. read more

Natalie at MTI Bellevue is the best! Due to stress, I developed problems with my jaw and neck. I have seen her twice a month for 2 1/2 months and I am fully functioning again. She has a great hands-on touch in the office, and I have done all the exercise homework she has given me. It has worked out wonderfully for me. The PT was great and descriptive in his process of identifying the cause of pain, however scheduling can be challenging at times.

I began seeing John Bernhardt for physical therapy in August 2022. He has been working with me on strength and range of motion. He is also helping improve my balance. John has me on an effective home exercise program and was the impetus to my getting a recumbent bike which I also use for home exercise. The improvement has been substantial. A year and a half back, I was in a car accident and ended up needing physical therapy for a whiplash injury. I was referred to MTI by my primary care physician and was fortunate to get to work with Dawn. She was incredible, and if I could give her more than 5 stars I would. I give 3 stars because I'm torn. The physical therapy side was amazing. The billing side is a nightmare. I received bills months after I was completed and had already paid in full. I had to make multiple calls and multiple emails as the billing department couldn't not tell me anything outside of I owed them. They would not even provide an itemized breakdown until multiple requests. I had to do far more research than I should have just to tell them what payments they either misapplied or "lost". So although I'm grateful for my healing that took place there, I would not suggest this place due to the billing nightmare. read more

Have been going to MTI for a few months because of a herniated disc in my back. In the past I have not been a big believer in this treatment, but was in a lot of pain and decided to give it a try. Lauren in the Bellevue office is amazing. She knows what she is doing and goes out of her way to fit me in when I need an appointment. Back is much stronger and now I just go in for occasional follow ups. If you are looking for someplace good to go, give this place a try and trust Lauren. read more

starting seeing someone new at MTI for a new shoulder injury. I am a Sports & Spine physician who has worked with MTI for several years, and I have consistently great experiences working with MTI. A few specific things that I think makes MTI special: - High quality physical therapists. MTI does a great job in recruiting and retaining excellent physical therapists. - Consistent quality improvement. MTI has internal training programs, much of it based on the Ola Grimsby Institute training methodology, so that their already excellent physical therapists continue to get even better - Easy access. One of the things I love about MTI is the ease of reaching their therapists to discuss cases. This helps in coordinating care and picking the brain of the therapists, and the patients like to know that the physician and PT are on the same page - Time. MTI books long appointments, always with a physical therapist. I've been to several physical therapists and the people at MTI are by far the best. First, they all have advanced degrees and are constantly taking classes so their skills are fresh and current. They are knowledgable in all areas of therapy and really do a thorough evaluation when you first meet with them. They work closely with your physician(s) and are very skilled. And what really sets them apart is that they stay with you throughout your entire visit, including monitoring you closely during the exercise portion of your visit - checking for form, stamina, and improvement. Erin P. is fantastic, personable, and knowlegable, but really they're all very good. I've seen therapists change their schedule to fit people in, especially since they tend to book quickly. I've been to a LOT Of PT's due to 15 years of on/off low back pain. They are really amazing here. The therapist work with you the whole time. They DO NOT hand you over to an assistant to look after you. Everyone there is very nice but more importantly all very skilled with advanced degrees. Referred via a doctor who uses them for himself. I had been going to another non-MTI facility for a different issue two years ago but they were undergoing some changes and losing therapists so I switched. Advantages of MTI: -I am thoroughly impressed at the quality and knowledge of my therapist. -Love the appointments exclusively with the therapist. Other clinics use assistants for part of the hour. -Wonderful accessibility. Had a question about my exercises once I got home and my therapist was just an e-mail away. He answered promptly and cleared up my minor question. -Very easy to make appointments. Great reminder process to make sure you remember your appointment! -Easy parking -Facility is nice and uncrowded. Relaxing instead of frantic! Disadvantages: Haven't found any! This is not your typical PT where you are handed exercises by someone who really doesn't seem to care. There have been a combination of hands on and exercises that have helped me heal. Totally agree with "Stranger T". I also noticed that all of the good review/ratings appear to be from a couple of years ago. Not only is this place unprofessional, chronically late and overpriced for questionable service, they also try to bill for services and "equipment" and appointments that have never happened. If you try to discuss this with them (via email or phone call), they simply ignore you and keep sending fraudulent invoices and threaten collections. I have reported them to WA State as well as my insurance. Stay far away from this organization and go to a real, certified PT who actually participates in your therapy. Their apparent definition of "supervised by a PT" means the "supervisor" plays on their phone or tablet and complains about no one laundering the towels or the a/c not working properly - disgraceful. read more

They did not find the source of the problem I came with. Just exercise recommendations. In addition, be ready to get some extra in your bill. Something you never asked for and something they never warn you about. Bottom line: the problem source was not found and the bill was overcharged. read more

Not worth the money. MTI takes pride that they don't have PT assistants you are always supervised by a therapist. IMO, it doesn't matter who is sitting with their back to me, playing with a tablet - could be a PT assistant just as well. They charge more than $ 100 an hour - for very little value. I would not recommend them. read more

Terrific group! Through the years I have spent a lot of time with PT"s (sports are great!) and decided to try them when I heard that only trained PT's work on patients. Because I was being treated for two different types of injuries I ended up having to go there for over a year and was thoroughly pleased with everything about them. Good atmosphere, professionally run and most importantly outstanding care. Adam Shildmyer was my PT (Redmond office) and he was fantastic! (I could write a column on how good he is and how much he helped me but I'll spare you!) Bottom line, if you need a PT you need to ck these folks out ... they are the best! read more

MTI Physical Therapy also has offices in Kirkland, Seattle, & Tacoma. The main therapist I have seen is Jim Rivard. He is an excellent therapist. I danced with a modern dance company in Seattle for a couple of years and aggravated an old back injury that was never properly taken care of. I have gone to MANY Physical Therapists in the past that used the old techniques of electrical stimulus, ice and heat and some exercises. I went to a few that felt like the drive through treatment center in and out after just a couple of sessions and your still in pain. Jim's clinic is a completely different experience than any other Physical Therapy place I went to. They actually look at the whole body not just the hurting area. Because of Jim my life is almost pain free. I can run and do many activities I couldn't do before without being in great pain. Because of Jim I also was referred to another doctor who discovered I had a Thyroid issue and other related issues that were all keeping me from properly healing. I have been to a couple of other therapists when Jim is out of the office traveling and they were excellent as well. Jim is personable and friendly. He listens and cares. That is rare to find in a Therapist or Doctor nowadays. read more

Because of past PT experiences, half of which were very disappointing, I wasn't too enthused about going, but I don't seem to be able to exercise my formerly broken spine on my own. I need to know how to sit, walk and stand in ways that support my spine without further damaging it and the resultant bulging disks due to a car accident caused by a texting driver. Dawn is my new physical therapist, and she is amazing! She monitors the involved parts of my back as I do the exercises, and if something doesn't have the desired effect on my body, she modifies the exercise until just the right muscle action is brought about. Previous physical therapists gave me exercises straight from a book that resulted in awful spasms in my back and legs, so they had me do fewer repetitions and said I'd adjust over time. But it left me unable to walk for days after a treatment, which has not happened with Dawn, who doesn't send me out of the session until she has thoroughly made sure that I've got the exercises just right. So far MTI has been a true blessing all the way around. I recommend it highly. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend MTI. I went there weekly for a couple of months to get help with neck pain after having seen a PT from Group Health who wasn't very helpful. Adam S from MTI was fantastic. Even though I did poor job of describing the origin of the pain, Adam carefully moved my neck into various positions to pinpoint the exact locations that hurt. Unlike some PTs who only give you exercises to do at home and maybe some onsite, Adam used a comprehensive approach of manual therapy (like a targeted massage that relaxes the area in pain), doing exercises on site, and giving me tips on exercises to do at home. I went from having excruciating pain and limited range of motion to having it completely relieved by the time our sessions ended. I don't normally use healthcare appointments to chit chat, but Adam was so pleasant to work with that I actually looked forward to our conversations during my appointments.
