It took quite a few tries to visit this store when it was open. When our family finally visited the store, it was extremely disappointing despite the great reviews. There was one staff member there that greeted us in a perturbed manner. The entire visit she stood behind the counter with her arms crossed and a scorned look on her face. Our entire group was made of adults. We did not touch anything while browsing so I'm not sure what the issue was. I do not recommend wasting your time trying to support this small business. There are many other businesses in Salado that are welcoming and happy to share about their products. Zero stars. read more

Nice little pottery shop with some beautiful pieces. I bought two spoon rests and a small casserole dish. I would have bought more except I was headed home on an airplane. Next time I'm in Texas, I'll be back. Love to see the purple color which is heard to find in pottery!! They had some great mugs but some were tall and some were short...I wish there had been some in between. I find the tall ones tip too easily. read more

Really hard to support a business when TWICE we've driven 30 minutes into Salado and found this shop closed during normal business hours. Gives all of Salado a bad name. Such a shame because we used to shop Salado mainly because of this shop. read more

We love this shop, but they often close with no notice. Before we drive all the way to Salado we check their Facebook page, we check their website, we check Google maps hours. We call but they never answer. Last trip we even called the Salado visitor's center to confirm they were open. We were told yes they were, so we made the trip down. They were closed. No sign. No notice. No holiday. Just closed. Very frustrating to spend money on gas and time only to find a business won't simply update facebook, or leave a voicemail with recorded closures. Can't recommend. I drove from Fort Worth to specifically come here to buy my mother the chip and dip bowl. They have beautiful pottery and each piece is different. My mom saw this few months ago as we stayed over and she couldn't quit talking about it. I could have had it shipped, but I love the town of Salado. Oh my gosh. The fudge. THE FUDGE. I didn't get a picture of it because it was gone so quickly. My niece lives in Salado, on the golf course, so we hopped in her golf cart to check out the little shops and such downtown. The last time we were here it was cold and rainy...as in 37°. Who wants to get out and explore in that weather? Ugh. So out we traveled in the little golf cart...so many neat antique shops and boutiques, that had all kinds of yummy food items, but my nice said no, wait, we need to get fudge. You won't regret it. Well, I never regret fudge anyway, but this was out of the world good! So many delicious kinds, and we were able to try samples. I decided on the salted caramel chocolate fudge, my niece got the espresso fudge (I think that's what it was called - it tasted like chocolate covered coffee beans) and my sister in law got chocolate with pecans. They had a creme brulee fudge that was delicious too and I could have spent $100 on just fudge there. And probably gained as much either because I can not resist this delicious yummy stuff! It's all homemade, and when she cuts a slab, she doesn't measure, she just cuts, so you may be paying anywhere from $6.99 to $8.00 for a chunk. So it's not cheap.. but if you want cheap, go down the road and get a Hershey's bar. If you want delicious, homemade with love fudge, come here! read more

We've lived in Salado for over two years and are just now getting around to exploring our little town. We stopped in to several shops today, one of which was Mud Pies, since everyone was insisting we go there. The staff were super lovely and friendly, and I did pick up three pieces of pottery which I love!! It took a lot of self control not to get fudge...but I will next time! Warning: thus is a popular shop and usually has a lot of people. Be patient...it's worth the wait!! read more

The pottery is beautiful & Well made, but the real stand out for me is the fudge. I usually hate fudge, but I tried a piece while there & it blew me away & I actually ended up buying a bar. I had the chocolate espresso & it's the creamiest, softest fudge I've ever had. I'll be back again to stock up on more fudge & to get a coffee from across the street. Salado is the best part of being stationed at fort hood! Great town, great fudge. read more

This store normally closes at 5pm, but we lucked out & were able to go inside since there were still customers. There was a nice lady with glasses, unfortunately I didn't get her name, she offered us free samples of their fudge as well as their lemon almonds. The lemon almonds were delicious & I purchased some almond joy fudge & my friend purchased some creme brûlée fudge. Definitely a neat little store with good customer service. read more

Stopped in today like we do once every year. First place we always go. Stopped in before we even checked into the hotel. Very friendly and nice shop. I've never bought and pottery although it looks really nice. Now let's talk about what I love... FUDGE. And this place has the best! I've ate fudge all over the USA and no one has better. They have lots of choices but we always get the plain old chocolate and sometime with the walnuts. The fudge is. It important from some other place but is hand made by the owner. The employees are very friendly and the fudge is the best we have ever had!!! It's so rich and tastes exactly like it's description. We bought three squares: rocky road, chocolate peanut butter and chocolate espresso. It's not cheap ($25) but it's definitely worth it. read more

This was a cute little boutique shop that only sold hand-spun pottery and amazing fudge in at least two dozen flavors. The lady at the counter ( the owner) was VERY sweet and let us sample 2-3 different kinds of her home-made fudge. Her pottery was very pretty but rustic -not my style really but nice none-the-less. Ever since moving to MD, this is an absolute must to visit every time I'm in town. The pottery is gorgeous and looks high end but that's just from looking at them. I've only ever bought the fudge because they always have the basics and new flavors. It's the best I've ever had, very creamy, and doesn't last very long. They offer free samples and the customer service is the best southern hospitality you could ever ask for. read more

We may have enjoyed visiting Mud Pie today. My parents are visiting from Pennsylvania and we wanted to show them the beauty of Salado. Mom loves fudge and wanted to stop in to bring a bit back. Despite the fact that the store sign indicated that it was open and the hours were clear as well, the employees inside were not willing to open the locked door. Mom left and went to the next store while my father stopped at the fudge store looking for her. Dad was able to get in and said he was looking for his wife. The man inside asked if itwas the lady in blue which told us that they did see her trying to get in. Rude, rude, rude. Embarrassing as well. read more

I loved this place. My daughter and I went into the store and the owner very graciously gave us a tour of the pottery making area. We saw the kilns and the pottery that she was currently working on.
