We arrived at 1:30pm - pretty standard lunch time, if a bit on the later side. The place was closed and the sign said they wouldn't be back until 2:30. Not sure whose bright idea it was to leave in the middle of a business day, during lunch time, for at least an hour - but I can tell you it was the reason they didn't get our business today. The pizza is excellent. Bobby Jo was there when we visited and she said she brings a lot of the vegetables used in the pizzas from her garden. (She had just finished tearing the garden down for the winter.) I love these small, authentic-feeling pizza places. All the wood and that sense that your in a small town pizza joint that just knows how to make great pizza with service that makes people feel wanted in the process. I'm a slice traditionalist, which means all those square and rectangle cuts just don't make sense. But I'm willing to overlook it for what turned out to be a great pie. read more

We sat at the bar and ordered a personal pizza. So, so good. It's a must stop. Unfortunately the staff had to deal with a loud mouth, foul language man. His companions visually embarrassed. We really wanted to like this place - when we first walked in, it had the aroma of our favorite pizza place from our grad school days. It wasn't crowded when we first arrived and we were able to grab a table right away. By the time we left there were no seats available but I'll have to say that we won't be going back. It took a little while for the server to come ask for our drink order and things went south from there. It took an hour to get our food and when it did arrive, it was so overcooked that all of the crust was crispy. I don't know if the dough is supposed to be orange, but that's what color it was all the way through - even on the thickest bits. We would have been willing to let this slide if there had been any acknowledgement on the part of the server that there were any issues. We had one update, about 50 minutes into our wait, that our food would be out soon. We had to ask for refills for water - she never noticed on her own that we needed more. The fact that the pizza was way overcooked just didn't even seem to register. We could have complained, but we were hungry when we arrived and much hungrier when we finally got the food, so it's not as if we would have wanted to wait longer for them to make it right. I really want small, local businesses to succeed, but far too often these days the service at these establishments is the dealbreaker for us. Sodas are served in cans - no refills - and the pizza is sliced in long "finger" servings rather than traditional pie slices. read more

The pizza here is top notch. We ordered garlic cheese sticks and a Margherita pizza. Absolutely excellent. I cannot wait to stop here again. Service was friendly and accommodating, though could have been a little more attentive and quick. For instance, I ordered an unsweetened ice tea that they gladly prepared for me. In the meantime, they offered us no water despite carafes of water being clearly visible 7 feet away sitting on the bar. Also, didn't offer a refill until we were already done eating. I visited town and asked for a pizza delivery place from the hotel staff. They recommended Muddy Waters. The pizza was superb! Amazing ingredients with a lot of selections. The crust was delicious and the sauce was totally on point. Some have said they thought the pizza was pricey but I didn't feel that at all. Maybe it is more expensive than their competition in town but I have no point of reference on that point. The delivery was fast and the person on the phone was so friendly and helpful. If the only thing you are looking for is a seriously good pizza, this is the place. If you are looking for good service any kind of sides (salad, app's, etc.) other than cheese sticks made on pizza dough, you won't find it here. We stopped here after hiking at Wylusing State Park. We were STARVING, the only thing they had as an app was garlic cheese sticks so we decided to get them. We got our drinks and our order in relatively quickly, asked for the garlic cheese sticks as an appetizer, the server said she'd have them out before our pizza. We waited and waited and waited. No sign of our server, looking for another beer, no where to be seen. Then a different server brings both the garlic cheese sticks AND our pizza out, I was seriously crabby. I told her we ordered the sticks as an app, she explained that they had food downstairs so they were swapping tables and our server was down there and neglected to circle the "app" indicator. She then walked away without even asking about our drinks. I thought that meant our regular server would come and check on us, but still no sign of her. So I flagged her down to get another beer. We ordered the Hipster and it was AMAZING. This is the kind of pizza that's worth driving over an hour for, the garlic cheese sticks were really good too. If the service had been good this place would easily earn 5 stars from me. So like I said, if you are coming for good pizza only or takeout this place was great.
