Fried pickles and red horse red ale

The hours on Sunday are shorter than normal, so come earlier! The service was good, and they gave good recommendations! If you're not an IPA drinker, I would recommend the Red Horse Red Ale. It lighter than some of the other options and had good flavor. They do run on cash only. Otherwise, it was a pleasant place to take a rest!!

Trendy vibe in a historic building with some nice nods to the local history. The food portions are large, so you will not leave hungry. The fish sandwich was huge and amazing! Enjoyed the shrimp wrap and the house made chips and onion dill dips was excellent. Son had a cheese pizza and it was great. It is a small town, so they are struggling like the industry as a whole for staff. We were treated well. Just be patient as they only had a few people working.

Old Man River Brewing has delicious food as well as a good selection of beer on tap from other breweries. They said they were still waiting to get their beer finished as well as get their government permit for selling alcohol when I went to visit them, so I was not able to try any of their homemade beer. I sat outside on their patio with family which was nice because the weather cooperated for us. I liked their interior and patio decor. The waiter and bartender were very kind and friendly. We ate lunch there and the food was delicious. They were out of gluten free wraps so I got a gluten-free chicken sandwich and I was very happy. I was told by family that the burgers were delicious as well. I definitely plan to stop back and try out this brewery again once it gets its' own beer on tap.

We enjoyed a great meal and conversation with the owners on April 22. Great homemade chips, Spinach artichoke dip, veggie grilled cheese and beer flight. Clear that great care was taken in creating a welcoming environment.

Stopped at Old Man River for dinner during our mini weekend getaway! You can find this place in the cute downtown of McGregor. We were greeted when we walked in and told to seat ourselves. There were a few other tables filled but not many, so we chose a table in the middle. I expected it to be busy during dinner rush but larger groups began to arrive as we got our food. The walls featured pictures of steamboats, old fishing rods, American flags, and craft beer decor. There was country music playing which wasn't terrible. One of the cool gimmicks was an old steamboat door they have. The waitress was friendly but the service was long periods of waiting unsure if they would come for our order or bring a drink that was ordered. It seemed like they had limited staff to accommodate the groups there. My boyfriend ordered one of their craft beers, paddleboat. They did not have a cocktail menu but a had a full bar. I decided on a classic Moscow Mule but they had to be reminded to bring one. The Moscow Mule was made well and brought in a copper cup, which is key. My boyfriend enjoyed the home brewed beer. You must get the sweet potato fries! These were thick, crunchy, and some of the best I have ate. The pork sandwich was the perfect combination of sauce and pork not making the bun soggy by the end of the meal. My boyfriend liked his burger, but especially the sweet potato fries. We like to think of ourselves as sweet potato fry connoisseurs wherever we go! The kitchen staff was accommodating to no cheese on the burger and subsisting pickles for cole slaw on the pork sandwich. When we got the check the drinks weren't on there so we asked. She forgot but decided not to add on drinks because we waited longer than we should've. Overall, the food was delicious but don't expect to rush in and out. This is a good spot to sit, relax, and be in no hurry.

Excellent microbrewery in a charming small town setting. Come for fall colors, and enjoy good food and great beer!

We randomly popped in here as we were walking through town. It was midday and not busy at all. Was seat yourself. Not impressed with service, waiter brought us our beers and then proceeded to tell us he didn't know which beer was which so we had to figure it out on our own. And then the wait for the food was more than 30 minutes. With no explanation about why it was taking so long. Our order was not complex - 3 sandwiches. Eventually talked to someone and they brought us out some complimentary beer, but was still frustrating. Once food finally came out it was alright, nothing special. Fries looked good, wish I would have gotten them instead of the wedges.

Hands down awesome food and brews. Best old fashions too! Food is pro chef style not generic made run-of-the-mi Locally owned & owners are very nice & down to earth. Staff is fun, attentive & genuinely care. Went to visit PDC but never made it across the bridge cuz this place was fun! Also ask about their beautiful condos upstairs! Ended up staying upstairs for the night! Coming back for sure!

After reading the reviews it seems the biggest struggle here is service. We had super polite service and pretty quick. Not instant, but when you obviously have freshly made food in front of you you understand why it took a little time. Our fries and wedges were crispy, burger cooked exactly to order, pizza crispy crust gooey cheese, so officially yummy. We enjoyed our beers, don't know if they are locally brewed. Restaurant itself was clean, spacious, family friendly, and well decorated. Men's restroom had a baby changing station!!! Hallelujah!

By far the worst Reuben I've ever had. Used American cheese slices and my fries were cold. It took over an hour to get our food.

The Supper Club Standard: A Night of Steaks and Levity at Jones' Black Angus…read moreOn the sprawling Highway 18 in Prairie du Chien, Jones' Black Angus stands as a stalwart of the Wisconsin supper club tradition--a place where the atmosphere is as thick as the cuts of beef and the hospitality feels like an invitation into a neighbor's dining room. The experience is anchored by a service staff that possesses that rare blend of professional precision and genuine personality. Our waitress, Grace, was the heartbeat of the evening. She navigated the floor with a warmth that felt entirely unscripted, providing a level of care that culminated in a particularly touching gesture: when one member of our party stepped away during the presentation of the dessert tray, Grace made a point of returning later to ensure he received the full, choreographed "view" of the nightly sweets. The culinary journey begins at the salad bar, which is--to put it simply--impeccable. In an era where many establishments have retired this particular ritual, Jones' maintains it with a freshness and variety that honors the tradition. However, the evening's primary entertainment came in the form of a recurring linguistic gag. When the soup of the day arrived--a dish that was, by all sensory accounts, a classic gumbo--Grace insisted with a wink that it was "jambalaya." The ensuing debate became the running joke of the night, a bit of shared levity that only a truly great server can cultivate. But the kitchen is not just about the sides and the stories. The filet was impeccable--perfectly seasoned, expertly seared, and possessing that melt-in-the-mouth quality that justifies the Black Angus name. My sincere compliments to the chef for a masterclass in steakhouse fundamentals. "A great steakhouse is about more than just the meat; it's about the memory of the meal." -- Unknown Jones' Black Angus is a reminder of why the supper club remains a beloved institution. Between the "jambalaya" jests, the meticulously curated salad bar, and a filet that commands respect, it is a destination that delivers both a full heart and a full plate. When we found this place, we decided to try it out. We didn't know that there was a bit of a gravel path to reach the restaurant but I promise ... it's worth it. She was beyond knowledgeable of the food and drink menu which is always a huge plus! When we got our food, it was PERFECT. My husband and I are both foodies and I have had countless steaks in my life, but this hands down was THE BEST filet I have ever had. The owner Roumel, who is also the head chef, table touched which is unheard of now a days and we started talking about me being from Cleveland and him being from Chicago and next thing I know we're comparing our 2016 World Series notes. His were obviously better, but it was such a wholesome conversation! His wife Jilaine told us all about the story behind the restaurant and what encouraged them to buy it and the passion behind both of their words were so genuine that you could tell they took pride in their staff, restaurant and food. The ribeye was prepared with the same tender perfection as well. My son, who lives in Chicago, said his steak rivaled those of the steakhouses in Windy City. He really enjoyed his filet.
