I have traveled many places over the years and have been to a lot of steakhouses. All the chains but mainly independents around the country. This is relaxing and intimate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This particular restaurant is clean as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitress was friendly and attentive. I had a wagyu flatiron steak as it was a featured special and I thought it sounded interesting as I have never been particularly fond of this cut. I have to say it was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, anywhere. It was thick, tender, juicy and very flavorful. My wife had a filet and it was outstanding as well. We had with it a baked potato and salad, both of which were very good. Personally, my measure of a good salad is the quality of the lettuce freshness and type, the bleu cheese dressing and the croutons. All of it met or exceeded my standards. The price for two was $128 and that included one drink each with top shelf liquor. Beef is expensive right now, but I gladly pay for this kind of quality. The wagyu was $60 (it was at least 10oz) and the filet was $47 (it was 8oz). If you are ever in Prairie du Chien, give them a try. I am sure you won't be disappointed. read more

We chose to have a glass of Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon (one of my husband's favorite wines). I had the Lobster and Lobster. It was two lobster tails with lobster raviolis (white sauce). Yes, you're likely to see relish and cheese trays, a great salad bar with peas (and a waitress with an up do who is willing to bring you 1000 Island from the kitchen), and maybe even a rotating cornucopia of desserts (tbh, I didn't even look for those, as I was "Sconnie Sup Club Stuffed"). It's like taking a step back in time; the lights are dim, Rat Pack music playing, there's a cool sunken bar with big comfy barrel chairs and everyone is super friendly! The salad bar is the star of the show with chilled plates, homemade soups & salads and blocks of local cheeses to slice! We had bourbon cocktails at the bar while our table was prepped - the selection is impressive. My hubs and I ordered walleye cheeks, ribeye and scallops in a bacon cream sauce. This was a fantastic experience. Service was phenomenal. They do take reservations. The owners were working and checked in on what appeared to be every table on a busy Friday night. The hostess, Angie and her husband are the owners. Don't worry about the market price on the menu... because the prices are very, very reasonable considering meals come with a full high quality salad bar that also includes two soups. Loved the chicken pot pie soup... and... and a nice fresh baked loaf of bread for every table. I was charged $2.00 for ice in my drink. It was a separate charge on the bill and I was told it because the ice required more vodka in the drink I have never been charged for ice any cocktail - all across the USA, so I can only conclude that this place has patrons who are gullible enough to believe this BS. McDonalds doesn't have a separate charge for lettuce on a burger, Gucci doesn't charge extra for straps/handles on their purses. It's part of the cost for the item. BTW, this place charges NYC prices for their steaks - in rural WI. Guess locals think over paying for drinks and food makes for a good dinner. I have to add that the curb appeal of this establishment is very lacking - especially since they gouge you on price of food and scam you to put ice in your drink. We were enjoying a cabin vacation in nearby Iowa at the beginning of the year (prior to COVID19 closures) when we stumbled across this gem of a supper club in Prairie du Chien. Driving by, we immediately noted it to have dinner one night during our vacation (it was only about 25 minutes from our cabin). I'm so glad we did. We came on a week night and were able to be immediately seated in the dining room, but opted (in true supper club fashion) to enjoy a trip to the bar first. I ordered a Manhattan which was ample (like whoa) and delicious (they have a decent variety of whiskeys to choose from). After our trip to the bar, we got our seats in the dining room where we ordered and enjoyed a lovely meal with wonderful service. I opted for the seared scallops, which had a perfect sear (so hard to find!) and came in a light and lovely mango sauce (delish!). One of my favorite supper club experiences to date! read more

The salad bar was astounding. The soups were house made. This portion of the meal is worth the drive to get here. Homemade croutons and sliced cheese, fresh loaf of bread, the house made blue cheese dressing and so many salad enhancements. For the main course we had a filet, cooked perfectly to rare/medium rare. And their special had a butternut squash ravioli and it was excellent. The after dinner Pink Squirrel was enough for four people! This is one of our top supper club experiences. I was surprised at how good the food was. We were visiting Wisconsin and didn't have high expectations. We live in Southern California and are accustomed to have great restaurants around every corner. The salad bar was fresh and plentiful. My husband LOVED the soup, it was a beer cheddar soup. The cheese offered at the salad bar was perfectly creamy. We ordered bluegill, which we had never had, and was so impressed. It was DELICIOUS. I ordered a New York, my husband had a rib eye, and my dad had the prime rib. We all enjoyed our food. It was like being transported back to the 1970s. The decor, the music, the menu. I guess the old adage - if it ain't broke don't fix it - applies. But honestly the decor could have used a refresher, or at least some new shingles on the roof above the salad bar. I had the Ribeye which was good, a little pricey at $40, I ordered it medium rare and it came out closer to medium, but the flavor was very good. I didn't find out until later on but they will cook a steak Pittsburgh style. The wife had the Seafood platter and she enjoyed it. But we made the mistake of not asking the price, it said "Market Price" never imagined though that it would be $100. Definitely not worth it. Great experience began with a warm welcome from the hostess at the door. Two well prepared cocktails to begin our evening at the friendly bar and two perfectly prepared steaks for dinner. Salad bar is pretty well stocked with soup, salad ingredients, cheese and crackers, and other items we overlooked. The all for one and one for all experience is no longer a favorite option for us when dining out.
