We stopped after a recommendation from friends. It was one of the best dining experiences we have had in the Midwest. The service was top notch- friendly and exceeding every expectation. The food was absolute perfection! Our entrees were fresh, cooked perfectly and the taste would rival any competitor. The steaks melted in your mouth like butter! We can't wait to go back!

You know you're going to get a good steak when you visit Black Angus. What you don't know is you're also going to be able to explore an extensive collection of room of rare and limited whiskey while you enjoy that steak. Opt for a single drink, a flight, maybe even purchase your own bottle. I walked away with a bottle of Michter's Toasted Finish Bourbon - a limited release you can't easily find these days for what I believed was a very reasonable price. Bring your appetite. And bring a wine angel if you're going to be flying home with a new bottle for your own collection. Cheers.

Chicken Cordon Bleu l, has browns with cheese and an old fashioned!

Very nice supper club! The ambiance is old school Wisconsin Supper Club which is a major plus! Salad Bar was fresh and full with soup and homemade croutons at the end of the line. I had a chicken cordon bleu with hash brown and onions- highly recommend both and the portions are sizable. For the appetizer the walleye cheeks and duck wontons are a great way to start!

I have traveled many places over the years and have been to a lot of steakhouses. All the chains but mainly independents around the country. This restaurant has the same ambience (dark paneling and dim lighting). This is relaxing and intimate. This particular restaurant is clean as well. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I had a wagyu flatiron steak as it was a featured special and I thought it sounded interesting as I have never been particularly fond of this cut. I have to say it was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, anywhere. It was thick, tender, juicy and very flavorful. My wife had a filet and it was outstanding as well. We had with it a baked potato and salad, both of which were very good. Personally, my measure of a good salad is the quality of the lettuce freshness and type, the bleu cheese dressing and the croutons. All of it met or exceeded my standards. The price for two was $128 and that included one drink each with top shelf liquor. Beef is expensive right now, but I gladly pay for this kind of quality. The wagyu was $60 (it was at least 10oz) and the filet was $47 (it was 8oz). If you are ever in Prairie du Chien, give them a try. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I guarantee it is one of the best you will ever find. Reminds me of the old school Italian places on the east coast. Get the frog's legs. I don't care what you think of eating amphibians, but if you like fried chicken this is like fried chicken on steroids. These were the tenderest, juciest, best I have ever had. Dang it they are more than half way across the US from me! I almost never give 5 stars but this place is a notable exception. Everything was excellent! I flew into to KPDC and ate at this place. You can walk across the road from the airport and you are there.

What a fantastic place with delicious food and incredible prices for casual fine dining! They have a great wine menu and a lot of really good bourbons. We chose to have a glass of Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon (one of my husband's favorite wines). I had the Lobster and Lobster. It was two lobster tails with lobster raviolis (white sauce). My husband had the special chicken Parmesan with spinach raviolis (red sauce). Both of our meals came with a full salad bar that included soup and loaded baked potatoes. We finished our meal by sharing a chocolate cheesecake. Yum!

Great supper club vine in Prairie DC. Yes, you're likely to see relish and cheese trays, a great salad bar with peas (and a waitress with an up do who is willing to bring you 1000 Island from the kitchen), and maybe even a rotating cornucopia of desserts (tbh, I didn't even look for those, as I was "Sconnie Sup Club Stuffed"). You will also see steak - perfectly prepared and presented with WI professionalism. Travel tip: Be careful how you order your old fashioned, only because WI is weird. (They use Brandy and Sprite? I know!). Enjoy. Great place for dinner and to meet wonderfully nice Midwesterners.

Was pleasantly surprised to find this gem! Beautiful decor inside, service was excellent and the food was mouthwatering! We had the oysters on the half shell, frog legs, and salmon fillets! Best I have ever eaten!

We had dinner here on a Saturday. We arrived early evening, with no waiting. We were seated in a cozy booth. Our dinners which consisted of a 10 oz Filet and Bluegill were cooked to perfection. Thank you for a memorable experience. PS the cheesecake was lovely.

If you love the old "supper club" vibe from back in the day, add this place to your list! It's like taking a step back in time; the lights are dim, Rat Pack music playing, there's a cool sunken bar with big comfy barrel chairs and everyone is super friendly! The salad bar is the star of the show with chilled plates, homemade soups & salads and blocks of local cheeses to slice! We had bourbon cocktails at the bar while our table was prepped - the selection is impressive. My hubs and I ordered walleye cheeks, ribeye and scallops in a bacon cream sauce. Everything was incredibly delicious! We finished off the evening with ice cream drinks, it was a phenomenal experience! First time visitors but we'll definitely be back!

The food was good, but very expensive even for two. The place wasn't very well lit, kinda dark. It was just a so so experience.

We ordered two appetizers- river rat balls & brushetta. Both were really good. All four of ordered the Saturday special of prime rib. Came with two sides. The side salad was the bombdotcom with homemade croutons. The American fries were decent but a bit soggy. The prime rib had ZERO seasoning and I paid an upcharge of $1.00 to make it Cajun. Nope... no flavor. Nada. Just a hunk of meat. I did scope out all other food coming from the small kitchen where you could hear the staff having a great time. It looked good so maybe we ordered wrong... but the menu is limited on prime rib days and what I normally would order wasn't available. Side note- I've worked in the restaurant business... not one person in the kitchen had hair nets on. Food was handles with barehands and I saw repeated cross contamination. The prime rib they cut our hunks off of laid on a counter dripping blood onto the floor that then had a towel thrown over it. I didn't feel great about eating our meal after noting all this.

I stopped going to Spring Lake for a few years and just recently went back when I heard they had new owners. I was pleasantly surprised! I had the peel and eat shrimp which were cooked perfectly. My dad had the prime rib, while it did not have the herb crust it used to have back in the day, it was wonderfully seasoned. My husband got the smash burger- which was not smashed at all and was pretty thick. But it was juicy and he loved it. My mom shared the prime rib with my dad but got a plate of American fries that were just like how they used to be and she loved them. The cheese curds were cooked just right. The portion was smaller than in the past, but they are around the same size or a bit larger than the other restaurants around town. Our favorite servers, Nicole, was there! Overall, we're were very happy with our meal and will be back soon!

For what 'Valley Fish and Cheese' is, it deserves the five stars that I gave it. The owners…read moreactually send their own 'Valley Fish and Cheese' boats out onto the Mississippi River to fish - so you can imagine how fresh their freshwater fish is, and how pure and clean of any additives their smoked fish is. 'Valley Fish and Cheese' is situated at a point in the Mississippi that has a large permanent island called St. Feriole Island, or "Island #172" (which is at least semi-permanent when looking at it in geological-time terms, because the river is always shifting). There are three launch docks for 16' long roofless aluminum motorboats, so they do a lot of river fishing, mostly with nets, like in the 'Old Country'. The most common edible fish from the river are Bass, Perch, Bluegill, Buffalo Fish, Crappie, Catfish, and Biting-Turtles, as well ancient fish such as Paddlefish, Lake Sturgeon and Shovelnose Sturgeon. A typical morning's haul yields around 30 to 60 fish. I guess that's why the top selling items at 'Valley Fish and Cheese' are Smoked Whitefish, Bass, Perch, & Sturgeon (with it's dense yellow meat), with all of them being delicious (and believe me, I've tried almost everything). Also, the fish are expertly filleted into steaks (washing off the blood & slime), leaving plenty of fresh clean flesh on the frames to sell for stock (which I bought and used to make a delicious American style Bouillabaisse, as well as an extra two gallons of plain fish-broth, which I froze in 8 one pint freezer bags for... whatever). Some fillets are salted, peppered, and grilled over charcoal to sell in sandwiches or alone. Other steaks are put into a rotating smoker heated with smoldering wood covered in brown sugar. Some smokers have stationary cooking shelves, while others are more like ovens with many slow-moving rotating shelves. The remaining bits & trimmings are grilled or smoked to create snacky-bite tenders, great for kids (but I liked them too, especially when I got them in a bag for the car). They also Brush-on Marinades and later-added spice rubs, which are all also key to the flavor. From Teriyaki to Old Bay, and from Cajun to plain Salt-Pepper & Lemon, the extra added flavors transforms each piece of every different type of fish species, with their variety of textures and density, whether grilled or smoke, into a different delicious experience with each and every combination. I cannot praise this place highly enough. NOTE: 'Valley Fish and Cheese' offers homemade Candy, as well as numerous other fresh, smoked, cured, and pickled products including - Live Turtles for Meat (Turtle Soup with Sherry is delicious), Turtle Jerky, Catfish-Bologna, Alligator Jerky, various homemade exotic rare Deli Meats (like smoked Coon Paws), and of course, lots of Cheeses, including Wisconsin's Famous Cheese Curds. All that I can say is "YUM"!
