I needed night vision sights installed on my pistol and first contacted a gun store in district heights, where I was quoted $60 and told it would take a day or two to complete. On a whim, I called The Vault on MLK holiday, fully expecting delays -- instead, I was pleasantly surprised. Jack, the gunsmith, not only quoted me $25 (less than half the price), but had the work completed in about 25 minutes while I waited. That level of efficiency and professionalism is rare these days. After the install, I immediately took the pistol onto the range. Both the red dot and night sights were dead-on accurate out to 15 yards. No adjustments needed. That alone speaks volumes about the quality of Jack's workmanship. Bottom line: If you need any firearm work done, ask for Jack at The Vault. You will be impressed by the pricing, turnaround time, and precision of the work. This experience reinforced why it always pays to shop around -- and I'm glad I did. Highly recommended.

With RS Shooting Sports when I was still living in MD I knew to ship my guns here because it didn't matter if I ordered a rifle or a pistol, my transfer fee would always be $35! The owners, Scott and Robbie are super friendly and very passionate about firearms. They're also extremely knowledge on both guns and MD gun laws! Which if you live or lived in MD you know how silly and complex they can be. I've also taken my guns innti get serviced a few times there was one time I bought a shotgun at bass pro shops and the trigger lock was on there so tight I couldn't get it off and was afraid to break the fun so I took it to RS and they got it off and were so kind they didn't charge me (so in return I bought a T-shirt because I love to spend my hard earn cash on a good local gun shop!) they'll also order certain equipment if they don't carry it either! I bought a new pistol grip from them and they swapped the old one out and put the new one on for me at no extra cost! They also provide an option to sell guns. The pricing is fair and I sold one firearm to them and didn't feel like I got ripped off! RS also offers some firearm courses specifically if you want to get your HQL or your CCW. They have a small variety of handguns in the shelf, some used long guns on display, and also some semi-automatic rifles. However, I know that if you are looking for something in particular, they will be happy to oblige and will order it for you. They also have some pretty unique guns if you are in the mood to chat it up with the gun shop owner. There's always a lot of parking right outside of the store and it's never been overly busy when we've stopped by. The prices are fairly reasonable and if you are nice, they might consider some haggling. The prices of the accessories seem a little higher than usual so I would probably try elsewhere for those. Additionally, the guy who is usually working at the counter is incredibly friendly, a clear gun fanatic, and enthusiastic about gun storage. There are two caveats though: 1) The store always smells like cigarette smoke. So if you are sensitive about that, I would probably wear something that doesn't absorb the smell. 2) There is usually only one person working in the store, so don't stop by if you are in a rush. Though if you are in a rush, maybe it isn't the best time to consider purchasing a firearm. Overall - a pretty solid place to purchase a gun. You never feel like you're being swindled and every conversation that we've had in there has made us smile.
