Fiancé and I were going to come for breakfast this morning, but the app lied and the place is completely packed :(

I've been here for a dinner and a couple of breakfasts. This review is focused on the breakfasts. One was with my family (on a weekend) while the other was with a group of nine (on a weekday). If you come to this Mullets location when there are activities at either the Fieldhouse or the diamonds/soccer fields, expect parking to be a nightmare. Norwalk just hasn't made enough parking spots for the complex as a whole and unfortunately, that has to be hard on these businesses. If you cannot find a spot, how are you supposed to come enjoy. When you do find a day that has ample parking, the interior is really spacious and can accommodate many. We've had friendly service with good attention both times I've been. If you are a "fancy" coffee drinker and that's what you're wanting, you won't find it here. They'll serve you a black coffee with some creamer and sugar options. I'm not a lover of their water cups. They are metal and so very cold to handle. They also sweat quickly so are very drippy. My husband loves them. To each their own. The breakfast food has been good both times. I got the Seafood Hash the first time and questioned it having cheese but figured they know what they're doing. It was yummy all together. I couldn't finish it all and it reheated well at home. The second time I had the Cinnamon Roll pancakes meal. Those pancakes were delicious! I took two of them home and they also reheated well. When Mullet's opened its new location in Norwalk I was out of town for their soft opening. Thought I could get back for the grand opening...but I didn't. Tonight was the night. It was easy to find right next to the Norwalk Fieldhouse and ball fields. There's a large lot so parking isn't an issue. We arrived at about 430 PM and were greeted right away as we walked in. Party of two. We were shown to a table in the front dining area. Seating is a combination of booths, low top tables and chairs, and a bar area with the standard bar seating we all know and love. The location is a pretty big space divided into basically four areas. A smaller front dining area by the host/hostess station, a larger mid dining area, the rear section is the bar area. The restrooms are in a small hallway to the Left of the bar. There's an arcade at the end of that hallway. Tillman (our server) popped over a minute or so after we were seated. He handed us menus and took our drink orders. We ordered two fountain drinks, a catfish po'boy with cheese curds, and a gringo burger with cheese curds. The sandwiches normally come with fries and there is an upcharge for other side options. The food was ready after a short wait. Tillman kept our drinks full. He pointed us to the arcade so we could go check it out before our food arrived. Everything was hot and fresh off the grill and out of the fryer! Tasted fantastic! The catfish po'boy reminded me a lot of the one I used to get at Wobbly Boots. Next time I'll ask if adding bacon is an option... Lol Tillman checked on us a few times to make sure everything was okay. Everyone we ran across was friendly and at least said hello. One of the managers checked on us about 2/3 of the way through our meal. It's standard table service. Ordering and payment were done through our server at the table. They take cash or cards. Our total came to $39 and change before tip. Being relatively new the place looks clean and while they weren't too busy multiple staff members were wiping down surfaces and preparing for their dinner crowd. My family and I are currently in town preparing for a move here in a couple of weeks, and I am so glad we discovered this gem! I ordered the burnt end wrap with the maple waffle fries--absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the wrap was incredibly satisfying. My wife chose the chicken and waffles, which came with a sauce that tasted like a rich, butterscotch glaze. It was so unexpectedly good, I genuinely teared up--it was that memorable. I didn't want the plate to be empty! Our daughter had the bacon ranch po' boy and really enjoyed it as well. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. If you visit, do yourself a favor and try the chicken and waffles--you might just find yourself crying happy tears too. Highly recommend! read more

Checked out the new mullets in Norwalk. Has the Triple Berry French Toast and a side of the loaded hash browns. French toast was great. Served on a board but the server brought a plate to transfer them to as I was eating. Loaded hash browns were a little disappointing. A whole pepper diced on top with some cheese. Not worth it IMO, just stick with the regular hash browns. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. We'll be back as there were lots of things on the menu that looked amazing. read more

Mullet's location in Norwalk near the ball fields and field house is a relatively new place. It's very clean with lots of sports stuff and signs on the wooden walls. It has some outdoor seating and a garage door that opens to the patio in warmer months. We went for lunch on a cold January day. We were seated quickly by a very polite server. She took our order and we had dinks on our table in just a couple minutes. I ordered the Rueben and my wife order the Catfish Po Boy. My sandwich was on toasted rye bread with big thick cuts of corned beef and was delicious. The Po Boy was huge! She took half of it home. Overall we both like the place and made plans to return for breakfast. read more

Mullets is a great mainstay of Des Moines. You can always count on a good breakfast. I miss the roof top seating of downtown but they still have a decent sized outdoor space. The mood is energetic and happy. The service is on par with tons of smiles. I split the chicken fried steak, delicious, the hash browns perfectly and I do mean perfectly made and a half order of biscuits in gravy. It was easily enough food for two adults. My only set back was the biscuits were small and the gravy appearance was as appealing on the biscuits as on the steak. Next time I will skip the biscuits and go for a different option. Love that they are in Norwalk now, that they taste great and that they are within walking distance after a couple of their amazing bloody Mary's. read more

We ordered breakfast for a family of 4 and the bill was over $100, my meal which was the breakfast burrito tasted burnt. Overall the atmosphere was good, food was 2/10 we probably won't be back. read more

I gotta say I'm super disappointed in our order. The help, however, was very friendly. We did takeout, 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich and all 3 orders were incorrect. Chicken sandwich was ordered with no pickle and came loaded with pickle. Egg Avocado burger came with no egg and no veggies. Barnyard burger had no sauce. Normally we are big fans of Mullets, but today was not a good experience. It won't stop us from going back. Maybe we should have just stuck with breakfast. read more

Update 12/18/25. Ate there for breakfast ordered the avocado toast flight. I didn't love it first. It is not served on toast. Forgot to take a picture It's serve served on what looks like a mini English muffin half. Tasted OK just not great. Several others ordered the breakfast tacos now those looked awesome that will be what I order for breakfast at my next visit. Service was great. We had a large group food came out timely. read more

We stopped in for a quick lunch. First time there & we were impressed with the service & cleanliness. My wife loves tenderloins & rated it an 8.5 out of 10. I had the Rueben, 9 out of 10. Fun stop for lunch. Annika was delightful and a manager also stopped by to make sure all was well. Onion rings had plenty of onion in them and cheese curds were excellent. The burger had yummy jalapeño and barbecue sauce and real bacon on a sweet brioche bun. Lively atmosphere with a happy vibe going on made it a fun place to be. read more
