Short version: Don't bother coming here for adult beverages if you forgot your ID. Long version: This was my first and will have been my last visit to this restaurant. I stopped in with a friend for a quick drink before doors opened at an event. The place wasn't too busy at 5pm and we walked back to the bar area. We sat down at the bar, which had 2 bartenders working. There were also two gentlemen sitting at the bar when we arrived. The less senior bartender, was polite yet reserved and asked if we wanted a drink menu, to which we said yes. My friend suggested one of the margaritas and we each then attempted to order. The more senior bartender butted over and demanded our IDs after hearing our order. This wouldn't have been an issue had I not left mine at home on the counter (yes, my fault), but the bartender was rude when she over took the other bartender from taking our order. I felt as though we were targeted and she made a huge deal out of it. Her snarky response to me saying I had left it at home was distasteful. She seemed quite pleased with herself, which came off as arrogant and entitled. I am of age, as is my friend, and I understand a restaurant has the right to refuse service, but the only thing it did was hurt their business because we didn't spend money with them. We went to the Buffalo wild wings o se 14th street and indianola ave, in des moines iowa. They have a sign that states to seat yourself, but a wait staff sat my husband and I with our menus. She didn't even ask us what we wanted to drink. We sat in the booth for 10 minutes before a server came over and finally took our drink and appetizer order. I like me some boneless wings and the Parmesan garlic ones here are my favorite. Unfortunately, the service is hit or miss. I've had really good service and I've had fairly bad service, hence the 3 stars. I suspect they have a high turnover rate and must be hard to train all the new employees. The pros of this place are the js usually really good. They have tablets to help entertain the kids while we wait and they have TVs every way you can turn your head with pretty much every sport on them. Easy to catch the game score while you enjoy some wings and a beer. The con is the service can be very sloooow. For a place that supposedly specializes in buffalo wings, this place misses the mark on a consistent basis. Too much emphasis is placed on offering 20 different wing sauces and not enough emphasis is placed into putting out a quality product. The fries are bland and are obviously frozen garbage. The sandwiches and other "entrees" are sloppily put together with little thought to their place on the menu. Also, there's often lots of children in this establishment, despite the "sports bar" vibe. I wish there were fewer, they only add to an already loud environment. The staff here is always friendly and checks in with you. I've never had a problem, but the management always seems to be talking with employees; I've never had one visit to ask about my experience. Its not a knock on them, but I get IDed here everytime (not very often elsewhere, unfortunately), so be sure to bring it if you want the libations, otherwise you'll be stuck with soda. read more

I actually really love this location; it's my favorite location in the Des Moines area! Take-out is super easy. Ordering online could not be simpler, it's always ready at the time you want to pick up, and your order is always correct. I can't say anything bad about their takeout. Dining in is such a pleasure! I don't know if they put happy serum in the water at this place or what but every staff member I've come into contact with has provided great service (Justin - you are outstanding! I feel like the regional manager for BWW in Iowa needs to pay this location a visit, fire the entire staff and offer a refund to locals who paid large amounts for the crappiest service ever! Been here twice now (1 dine in, 1 takeout) and the service was good. The setup is exactly the same as the Merle Hay location. It looks identical on the inside. I noticed the same thing here that i have at all BWW locations... They screw you on the sauce for takeout orders. In the future i will ask for extra sauce on the side for takeout.
