Wow! What a great addition to the culture and arts in the Green Bay Area! This place is a spectacular venue. I recently saw the Genghis Khan Exhibit and was really impressed...and it was all free! Along with a large exhibit area they also have a theater, a gift shop, wine bar and ample space for hallway exhibits and art shows. I'm sure there's more I didn't even know! Building is beautiful and the overlook onto the bridge and Fox River are really cool. Good job! read more

With a name like Mulva, you know I was hearing Jerry Seinfeld's voice saying, "Mulva? Gipple? Celeste?" over and over in my head while walking around the museum. Thanks a lot, Mulva Cultural Center. This cultural center has nothing to do with Seinfeld, unfortunately. But what it is is a space for traveling exhibits. When I visited, I got to experience Bricktionary, a LEGO art exhibit. The Center is small, and there's only one exhibit running at a time. There's also a huge movie theatre inside Mulva, with a Samsung Onyx screen -- one of only three type of movie screens in the country. They show documentaries mostly, but also movies that have a similar theme to the exhibit (for instance, you could see The LEGO Movie), and other family-friendly movies, like Kiki's Delivery Service. Downstairs, there's a sit-down restaurant as well as a grab-and-go cafe with lots of delicious baked goods and coffee. I grabbed a cookie right before they closed for the afternoon. The restaurant, Savour on Broadway, looks like it has a great menu, and I wish it was open when I visited. Mulva also has a great gift shop, with lots of local Wisconsin items made and produced from nearby artisans. I bought a stuffed hedgehog for one of my sons, but they have so many cute things in the shop that it was difficult to settle on just one gift to take home. read more

Very disappointed to learn that the restaurant is going away March 13, to be replaced with a cafe that will be run by different vendors. For me, the upscale restaurant elevates the entire cultural center; I think the decision to eliminate the restaurant is a mistake. Supposedly the closure is due to "a strategic shift toward supporting local chefs and partners." I'm a bit skeptical and am curious about the real reason. Like everywhere else, I imagine cost-cutting. Everyone, every place seems to be downgrading these days to cut costs. It's unfortunate. read more

The exhibitions, gift shop and art works are all excellent. But you have to try their restaurant. All farm to table, innovative food in a beautiful setting overlooking the Fox River. read more

Not a safe place. They disarm you at the door and have no armed security. No protection if someone actually wanted to do harm. no clear instruction on how to view exhubit. brought tickets with me but still needed a reservation. Clean, fancy tourist trap. read more

I'm so excited that this cultural center is open. The staff was so kind and professional. I could tell they were all taking so much pride in being part of the Mulva experience. Now, the beetles exhibit just closed. We made it in on the last day. It was very well done with lots of incredible information, interactive exhibits, and actual artifacts. In the Atrium was an exhibit of photographs from Clyde Butcher, it was very Ansel Adam's esk. Beautiful photo. They do have a baby grand in the Atrium and feature live performances mid day on Saturdays. The food and beverages looks excellent, I can't wait to pop in and enjoy the sitting area and grab a drink and snack and crack open a book. There is also a theater in there as well! I bought a membership when it first opened and have been very impressed by what it offers the small community of DePere, WI. One of the benefits of getting a membership is that many of the movies they show are included in the membership. I've attended 4 of the movies already and love the theater. Every one of the movies however, I have been the only one in a huge theater. This is a seriously underutilized asset for the community and hope that as time passes, the attendance will improve.
