The food is so tasty. I highly recommend the barbecue! The combo includes two ulams, noodles, rice, and iced tea. I was really full but I finished it all. I'm so grateful the man that worked there told me that two of the ulams I was going to pick were based off the same sauce so I did not end up with the same tasting food. Even my meat eating sister loved the food here! If you're short on time and don't have a chance to try out other vegetarian restaurants here (due to meat eating traveling companions and a bunch of family living here) you need to at least come here!

It serves Filipino staple foods like Kare-Kare, Pansit, Beef and Broccoli, Barbecue, and many more. The only twist is all of these dishes don't contain any kind of meat in them. How can you have Beef and Broccoli without beef? Is there even a type of Barbecue that's not made out of meat? Well, Bodhi uses tofu as a meat substitute. Their food tastes so good, you can't even tell that everything is made out of tofu. It's way healthier and cheaper. I usually have issues concerning my weight. I just can't imagine myself looking fat. Whenever I feel like I am gaining a few pounds, I just stop eating at fast food restaurants and I go to healthier options like Bodhi. They have a wide selection of meals to choose from and all of their dishes are sold at a very fair price.

The interiors must have been designed with the restaurant name in mind, with light apple green accents on white walls. It reminds me of a bright and airy country home - the ones with the white picket fences, except this one has no picket fence. And there are nice quotes about food and eating on the walls, too, with my favorite being the Irish proverb: "Laughter is brightest where food is best." There are also paintings of different herbs on the white walls, and even hanging plants (I wasn't able to check if they were real, though). And the food! (Insert happy sigh here) If there is one restaurant which equally meets the healthy and delicious criteria without compromising either of the two, this is it. With each bite, I was able to savor the wholeness, the healthiness, and the rich flavors of the food. They had a Valentine special when we ate there last February, and for around P400 each, we had a complete meal with banana shake with chia seeds, a fresh salad with calamari and with a delicious fruity vinaigrette dressing, a fresh, rich tomato soup (which is really good that I suspect it was made from scratch), grilled salmon fillet with a creamy though not so heavy sauce with potatoes and vegetables, and chocolate cupcakes. All the food in our Valentine meal is in the menu, though they bundled it to a Valentine meal good for two last February. I have yet to try eating there a la carte, but I hope to try the veggie burger next.

I don't care to join either side of this debate. What i do is eat vegetarian dishes whenever possible, but still go for red meat and fowl on a regular basis. Whenever I am out on the field for work, I usually end up heading for the nearest SM food court to eat, and I'm glad that a lot of them have a branch of Bodhi Vegetarian Healthfood. The taste of their various vegemeat dishes comes close enough to the real thing. One of my favorites is their version of sweet and sour pork, as well as their pork barbecue on a stick. Biting into either dish tells you that it can't possibly be real pork. This is where the tofu-based dishes is a dead giveaway that it's not the real thing. But then, you would know because this is a vegan place, remember? Bodhi has set meals for less than P100 and they even come with a teeny weenie cup of iced tea or soda as well as a complimentary mini cup of soup. When I was young, the only place to get vegetarian meals on a regular basis was the Adventist Hospital in Pasay City. I'm glad that we Pinoys have come to appreciate the health benefits of vegetarian food, and that there is a Bodhi Vegetarian Healthfood place nearby. Four stars for them,

I have a feeling it's because she was able to see the ingredients up close before they got turned into her wrap, so she appreciated them as individual components instead of just one green mix. Personally, I found that the presence of flavors you'd not typically associate with food that's good for you (Singapore Chili Crab, Indian Spiced Yogurt, Wasabi Honey Soy) a welcome change from health food that tends to taste the same every single time. It's not just Thousand Island or the typical vinaigrette here, you can get wraps that taste like what Grace calls "real food." Real food that's actually healthy(ish)? I'm in.

But for Salad Stop, they've made the taste of salads not taste so healthy! For a quick healthy fix, in a heartbeat, I suggest you make Salad Stop your pit stop. You can either whip up your own salad or you can choose from their menu on their signature salad recipes. You've got two choices - either have it prepared the traditional way (just all greens in a bowl) or in a wrap. My ultimate choice for first timers is the Cobb Salad. It's this chicken based salad that has romaines, cheese, egg, and even avocado. It's really so good and refreshing! The Jai Ho is also a good choice - this is good if you want to have some Arab tasting salad. I'm excited to go back and try the other flavors. Their combinations are very unique!

I even made a reservation last night to make sure that we could have a table for 10 at 1230. Upon arriving, a girl that looked like she was running the place was giving our reserved table away but quickly moved the other party to a different table. We ordered our food and in a few minutes one set of the Spring Rolls came out (we ordered two.) It took awhile before the second set came out. For soup, my grandfather ordered 1 roasted tomato soup, while my brother and my uncle ordered a mushroom soup each. For some reason, they kept giving us an extra mushroom soup which we kept sending back to the kitchen. When my grandfather's spaghetti bolognese came, we were all expecting that all our other orders would come. But after about 30 mins of waiting, we had followed up on the order and they just kept saying that it's coming. After a good hour and a half of being in the restaurant, and a few orders cancelled, my family decided to ask for the bill and just cancel everything. The staff continuously made excuses and said the food was coming. They even mentioned that they will have to pay for that themselves, but with service like that, my family just wanted to go eat elsewhere. While waiting for the bill, they asked us what orders came out! Shouldn't they know what orders they had already served us? When the bill finally arrived, the orders were wrong and they kept insisting that we ordered three mushroom soups. We kept giving it back, adding and removing some orders. The cashier edited the receipt at least SIX TIMES! To top it all off, the lady who looked like she was in charge of the place, didn't even bother to come to our table to apologize or anything. She just hid behind the counter, looking at her phone. When I thought she was finally going to talk to our table, she instead went to two other tables and talked to those groups. Another group that heard our complaining even said, "Really bad service." It's disappointing because I enjoyed what food I was able to taste, I was excited for the carbonara that never arrived, and this place has been getting very good reviews. I'm still deciding on whether or not I want to go back to try that carbonara, but as of now, I'm very disappointed at this place's service. I'm being nice by giving them two stars because their food was good, though some needed salt.

It was terribly disappointing when our orders arrived and we saw that the portions were very small, some dishes not even enough for one person. The mushroom risotto balls were okay. The tempura salad was one of the worst and their pasta noodles tasted horrible. Their beef bulgogi soft tacos were quite okay, but the flavors didn't seem to match. Probably the most acceptable dish among everything we ordered was the beef kebab. It was surprisingly tender and tasty despite it being organic.

I really wanted to love Susi…read more. I was surprised to find a Vegan and Gluten Free restaurant here in the Philippines, so I had to try it. I was the first customer of the day, and was seated upstairs. When traveling to the Philippines, it's not advised to drink tap water. When served a cup of water, I asked for bottle water which they do not have. For breakfast, the "If I Can't have Brad Pitt" sounded good. It's pancakes with coconut whip cream and dark chocolate. Of the 5 brunch items on the menu, only 2 were available and unfortunately the pancakes were not being served. Only the "Jose Rizal" and the breakfast platter were available to order. Really wanting breakfast food, I opted for the "Jose Rizal". This had a garbanzo omelet, mushroom chorizo, garlic fried rice, spinach and tomatoe. Garlic fried rice had large, almost whole pieces of garlic. The garbanzo omelet was very dry and bland. Maybe vegetables mixed in or a sauce would have added flavor. The mushroom chorizo was very crunchy and over cooked on the outside. Though a bit hungry, I couldn't finish the meal. Service was friendly. I would have liked to come back and try a lunch or dinner item, but my time in the area was limited.

There are very few vegan AND gluten-free (dairy-free, meat-free, egg-free) restaurants in town, and like most of these rare places, Susi also promotes sustainable living. While they have a second floor, I thoroughly enjoyed the sun room which offered an al fresco view, without the al fresco temperature. I came in and ate very lightly. Among other things, I was amused by the names of the menu items. The best example I can site is the Thom Yorke tomato and beet soup. It came with warm toast, and was much more flavorful than I expected. After half a bowl (it was delicious, but it was a bigger serving than I expected), I decided that it was time to head straight on to dessert and coffee. Eat Your Feelings - a rich, thick chocolate cake -- went very well with a hot cup of Kenya. Based on my starter and my ender, I'd safely say that I would go back to explore what else there is to go in between. Not giving up my meat anytime soon, though. :)

I've tried a few vegetarian places in Binondo, but this relatively newish addition to Chinatown takes the whole cake! Taiwanese-owned Green Planet Vegetarian serves a variety of tasty vegetarian and vegan food at super 'sulit' prices. Much like a super clean, glorified 'turo-turo', you can get a rice meal with 3 viands for only Php 100, and with complimentary hot tea, too! Try their veggie sisig (creamy and dairy-free!) and their crowd-pleaser, fried miteng (gluten), which has a beautiful, chewy texture and savory flavor--amazing when dipped in vinegar. Another favorite of mine is their radish cake, a slice for only Php 15! Being sold here as well are vegetarian and vegan food items such as Magic Meat (dehydrated TVP made locally), canned barbecue sauce, and this Taiwanese granulated mushroom seasoning (reminiscent of the local Magic Sarap seasoning--look for the package with that very strange smiling mushroom). I've also heard from their staff that they're planning to open a Makati branch!
