Wow! I love this place!! Actually, it's rare to find a place that serves a lot of veggies in the Philippines as the veggies are expensive here and so small. This place is good for vegan, vegetarians and meat lovers. It's good for all types of eaters. It's located on the 4L in the back of Shangri-La Plaza. My mom and I shared their Ceasar Kale salad that actually, had big chunks of salty chicken ; very tasty! The small sized bowl gives about 5 serving plates. We also shared their 3 slider burgers which we chose: the Tuna, Red Ribbon and Duck Fat Fried Chicken sliders! They also come with very good crispy fries! All of the tiny sliders were tasty good! We also tried the Mango Panna Cotta which was very soft than what I am used to but still good none the less. I really enjoyed the food, service and restaurant so I will definitely come back to try the other dishes! This is not priced cheap for the average Filipinos but I totally recommend it still! Just recently, CNN announced to the world that red meat is a definite cause of that incurable disease we all fear. I guiltily thought about the inside of our fridge with all that stock of bacon, tocino and barbecue leftovers. So as much I wanted to quit meat cold turkey, we took some baby steps and made sure that if we'll ever be eating meat, it's got to be paired with something healthy. Like salad, or just any kind of veggies. With our brand new "healthier lifestyle" approach, we were naturally interested when we stumbled upon Green Pastures. I can't believe we haven't heard of this place. I scanned the prices first before the food. Wow. There is actually food for less than Php 200. When you're in a restaurant within Shangri La Mall and there's food for less than 200 bucks, and it's not even located in a food court, that's considered affordable already. You'd find that their menu has a LOT to offer and everything is deliciously described so prepare to spend about Php 1,500 for two. We couldn't decide between "GF Pork Chop" and "Duck Fat Fried Chicken (Probiotic)" so we asked the waiter's opinion which is better. He kind of compared Duck Fat Fried Chicken to KFC so the second I got the KFC visuals I had no choice but to get the GF Pork Chop instead. MEAT!!! Since it's meat, we paired it with Yang Chow Cauliflower Rice, so there! For drinks, I got the bottomless Moringa Ginger Lemon Grass Tea (refillable for Php 205). However, I got jealous when I saw from the next table a big pitcher of what looks like a citrusy mix of something ice cold and yummy. I totally overlooked that on the menu. It's called Agua Fresca and a pitcher is only Php 250 which seems to be good for 4 people. So we'll definitely order that next time instead of a bottomless ice tea for just one person. The bowl of Yang Chow Cauliflower Rice is good for two, and we were pleasantly surprised that it came with shrimps and a chunk of roast pork. In fact, if you're not starving, I can say that it can work as a standalone meal for two. It's pretty good! Compared to rice, it's not as heavy on the stomach. Towards the end of our bites though we start to notice that there's this oiliness factor to it, but I'm assuming it's some kind of healthy oil like olive oil. As for the GF Pork Chop, i hate to say it but it's good... tender and juicy. But the guava jam that came with it made it awesome! Next time, I'll probably try their whole grain bowl because it's got wildly organic things in it like kale and quinoa. So long, meat! read more

Maybe we didn't order the right things but my first meal at green pastures was just so-so. We ordered squash soup and the Mykonos salad for appetizer then for main course my mom had beef salpicao and quinoa while I had tapa and egg with cauliflower rice. The soup was actually pretty good but the salad lacked taste. The salpicao was tasty but the tapa was sliced pretty thin and the cauliflower rice was quite overwhelming in portion. Our desserts of ricotta cheesecake and salted caramel ice cream with popcorn weren't bad but again, just so-so. We didn't have a negative experience but with the neutral tasting but pricey food, it might be a while before we go here for round 2. read more

I've always known about my glutton tendencies. Especially if the food is organic. So I am not surprised that whenever I am in Green Pastures, I always have a strong urge to order the whole menu. I'm not kidding. I want to order every single thing. Every page, front and back. Good thing my family is always there to intervene: hoy, Rio, you are over-ordering again. GUH. So I am forced to just order my favorites: a large bowl of Terra Natura with extra goat cheese (the beeeeest!), Veggie Burger (the beeeeest!), Cheesy Kale (the beeeeest!) and Yang Chow Cauiflower Rice (tastes like rice but isn't so the beeeeest!). Every single thing is such a winner that even when I'm feeling full already, I still need a few more bites of whatever is in front of me. And even when I'm feeling Sooo super duper grumpily full already, i stiiiiiill need a few more. Just one more, please. I know, I know. What a glutton! Have you ever had a good veggie burger? I have. It was here in Green Pastures. I got attracted to the dish because the menu glaringly boasts about it. "A VEGGIE BURGER THAT DOESN'T SUCK!!" Curiosity piqued, I ordered one. "Kuya, isang veggie burger that doesn't suck please." And what do you know? It really didn't! I don't know how the hell they did it, but this burger seemed like I was actually eating real beef. There's something about the mixture of the patty coupled with the melted cheese and the dash of pickles that really gives you the illusion of a bonafide cow sandwich. Green Pastures has the knack for making these sorts of illusions, from their yang chow fried cauliflower (a must try) to their Korean fried cauliflower. The coffee is delicious too and comes from a selection of local organic farms from the provinces. Farm-to-table cuisine hasn't been this good in Manila until now. read more

I blame myself, and partly the hype, for being somewhat disappointed with Green Pastures. I have heard nothing but amazing reviews praising the cuisine of Green Pastures, so I don't understand what happened. I was with my mother and father when together, we ordered the June salad (endless summer salad) for P595, the organic mushroom toast for P300 (sous vide egg, house made ricotta, and cacciocavallo cheese), and the roast organic chicken for P650. And since it was my mother's birthday, the waiters gave us free dessert: salted caramel ice cream with popcorn crunch. But even if the salad and the toast were delicious, we felt like there was something missing. Needless to say, the atmosphere after our lunch was awkward because our bill reached over. One of those moments when no one wants to talk about the meal they just had because they ended up paying for more than expected, and the food turned out to be not as memorable as they had hoped it would be. Maybe we ordered the wrong things. I want to come back to Green Pastures to give it another chance and order a different item on the menu, so hopefully, I can be proven wrong. read more

Don't panic, it's organic! Good food, big servings, all made fresh and with healthy and organic ingredients. My first thought though upon looking at the menu is that they offer too much. No pictures, just text, text, text describing what each dish is. It's kind of overwhelming. But with the right amount of patience, you'll find and experience the most appetizing meals. Green Pastures started the whole don't panic it's organic obsession a few years back. There was a time when I tried to dine there and I was 42nd on the waiting list. 42nd! That's insane. The duck fries, charmingly called Duck you!, is a mainstay for me. It's just fries deep-fried in duck fat and served with some duck meat. What the duck? I also recommend the Ricotta cheese with some bread and garlic. The serving of cheese us pretty generous and I absolutely love the roasted garlic on the side. The appetizers surely impressed, the main courses still has a lot of room to grow in my opinion. The sea urchin pasta fell flat while the bahn mi (Vietnamese style sandwich with liver spread) was rather plain. The Tequila Joes salpicao was very flavorful but the the price point didn't match the level of satisfaction. It's still a good place to try. I'll try the burgers next time maybe those would fare a bit better. read more

This has been my go to place when I want to have something healthy. People used to line up for this resto and the wait would normally take around 30-1hr. Lately though the food has been disappointing. They have a lot of inconsistencies the past few months and serving seemed smaller than the initial ones they served. I'd still eat here though because there aren't really that much good restos around Shangrila Mall. Quinoa. An ancient grain that most Pinoys find tasteless. I don't blame them. But cooked and paired with roasted tomatoes, tasty kale, onions, roasted mushrooms, roasted squash, beet, torn basil, cashews and miso sesame dressing and you have a very delicious healthy meal. Love this place! Tasty healthy good food. Their vegetarian selection is quite extensive. If you've tried their vegetarian food you just might skip the meat. I ordered their Beyond Burger meal for lunch. It had been a month since I shifted to a plant-based diet and I've been craving for a good old classic burger. The burger looked surprisingly appetizing and the taste did not disappoint. My burger was topped with mushrooms but you can also opt for slices of avocado. The meal included a pretty generous stack of sweet potato fries and a small serving of purple cabbage salad. With the price of the food, I expected a bigger serving for the salad. This restaurant has been receiving good feedback from several blogs so I went to try it. To those who want to make a reservation for dinner, it's only till 7PM. Upon entry, the walls are decorated with wood and plants, making a very "green" ambience. They also provided a window where you can see the chefs preparing your food. Everything in the menu is organic and healthy, they also have a make-your-own salad bar, but we didn't try it yet. Being new and do not really know what's good except for the vintage menu and ingredients that will make your mouth water, we ordered the following: - Harvest Chowder - made with river shrimps (but sadly, there is only one shrimp present in our soup, so they should have omitted the "s"), squash, bacon, potato, and corn with light cream. This is a good starter as it, in a way fills, but still creates appetite. - Fried Mushrooms - taste wise is good, but for the price of one large mushroom and three small ones, I find it pretty expensive. The vinaigrette is served in a spray bottle...something unique. - Sliders - it is a sampler platter of mini versions of their three burgers: 1. 80/20 burger - 80% wagyu beef, 20% double smoked organic panchetta with house made stracciatella and buttered brioche. You can really taste the pure beef here. They also have a Kim-Cheese burger - its home made cheddar cheese, organic kimchee, bulgogi glaze, cucumber and carrots. 2. Blue Ribbon Burger - made with grilled freshly ground Kitayama Wagyu Blend (shortrib, chuck, and brisket) with Roquefort bleu cheese butter and grilled Brioche. I like this out of the three! 3. Vegetarian Burger that doesn't suck - made with 100% vegetarian burger made with organic chickpea, mushrooms, leeks, celery and eggplant with housemade cheddar cheese in a potato bun. This tasted good, and for a vegetarian burger, it truly doesn't suck. But out of these three, I really like the side serving of fries with cumin mayo...the cumin mayo was to die for! - for drinks, we ordered Organic Melon Green Tea and Hibiscus Tea...all of their drinks use honey as sweetener. Most of their servings are big, and enough to share. Overall, ambiance is relaxing and eating organic, healthy, and delicious food is rewarding. I first heard about Green Pastures from my cousin who was talking about the place with her mom and all I heard was "duck fat fried fries" and that just did it for me. I knew I had to go to that restaurant. A few months had passed and I couldn't find the right time to go to Shangri-la Mall since I don't usually go to that area during mall hours. Finally, one day (which was today), a meeting was scheduled in Shangri-la and I knew it was going to end right before rush hour. So to pass the time, I headed to Green Pastures for a late snack slash early dinner and guess what I ordered! DUCK YOU! Yes, that's what they call the fries. And it's even better than I imagined it to be. I honestly thought that it would just be one of those fries cooked in duck fat, but no! It was served with some duck confit, Parmesan cheese and the best part... DUCK SKIN CHICHARON. Yup, you read that right! Aside from that, I ordered the Green Pastures Carbonara. The serving is just right for a person with my stomach: not too much and not too little. I will definitely, definitely go back for those fries though. read more

I'm one of the few people I know that's less than impressed by this place. In my eyes, it's alright. And to think that when I tried this place, I didn't even have to pay the bill as my best friend's fiancé is an old-fashioned gentleman. For our appetizer, we had the burrito which was served with toast. We also had one of the signature salads which was hands-down my favorite bit of our meal as true to their name, their greens were very fresh and ripe. We also had the roast organic chicken and the pan roasted swordfish, and finally, rice. I find Green Pastures slightly overpriced and when it comes to taste, it's so-so. I have been here 3 times. Green pastures was all the shizzle when it opened up and everybody was so excited to go here. Now that the storm has passed, we can see what is left of this place. It's actually still awesome and even better than when they started! They have resolved their teething issues, and the staff has found it's routine. The waiters are attentive and listen to you well when you place your special order, this is communicated well with the ktichen and the food comes out quick, warm, fresh and delicious. My all time favorite is the tuna burger which is grilled so well but still a bit raw on the inside, ask for some extra mayo ;) Nothing to add to the quality and preparation of the ingredients. Going for the organic side of things? Why don't you try Green Pastures located in Shangri-la Mall (in Ortigas). I mostly especially the area where the cashier (the main entrance). They have a plant wall right in the middle! So pretty! On one side, you will see the salad bar. Some people actually go here and make their own to-go salad. It's that quick and easy. I most definitely love sitting in this area (where most of the "greenery" are). It feels like you're dining outside (but not really). Okay, so first things first. Please do me a favour and order the Duck You Fries. I promise you will enjoy it as much as I did! Its got Duck fat fries, duck skin chicharon and duck confit - how wild is that right? You drizzle the fries with this red wine vinegar it comes with. Delicious! I got to try the Al Funghi (pasta with organic mushrooms). I like it but I wish they lessen the saltiness of the dish. I would have kept eating if it were more palatable to my liking. I also got to try their own version of salpicao. I was a bit disappointed because the meat wasn't soft enough yet. Green Pastures doesn't just rely on their concept though, they have quite an exciting menu too as well! Green Pastures is the perfect example of how healthy, thoughtful food can still be inventive and delicious. From appetizers to mains, Green Pastures have knock-outs all around. The Duck You fries is kind of genius. It sounds unhealthy, and I can't actually be sure if it is, but it's damn delicious. One of the most flavorful fries I've ever had! I'm a huge fan of Carbonara and Green Pastures has given me Carbonara that I've never tried before. It looks like a garden. The fresh ingredients really made a huge difference, as well as the thoughtful cooking! The 60-20 Burger is so solid. It's what you want a burger to be. It's firm but tender in the inside, it's flavorful, rich, and just a party in your mouth. Again, a lot of the dishes are dishes I've tried, but never ever in how Green Pastures cooks it. read more

If you're searching for a healthy yet delicious dinner out, then Green Pastures is the place for you with its locally sourced and organic dishes! Upon entering, you feel as though you are one with nature, greeted by a vertical green garden surrounded by the wooden farmhouse interiors. I would recommend ordering their house-made cheeses, each such as the Ricotta and the Stracciatella, partnered with some bread and roasted garlic. The Wholesome Grains in a Bowl, unexpectedly yummy combos of grains, fruits and veggies, are a guilt-free version of your typical rice bowls. Green Pastures also offers a juice bar, as well as a "make your own salad" bar which offers a variety of flavors depending on what you're in the mood for. As for dessert, their MilkEggsHoney was such a unique dish for me, as I've never tried white honeycomb before, and it was perfectly paired with greek yoghurt for a sweet and crunchy texture.
