Very simple, very clean. Almost kind of sparse for a candy company, but maybe just open air with a small product. Munson's are Connecticut's chocolates. I've received them as gifts and given them as gifts countless times. It was my plan to go to Mystic today, and stop by the Munson's there, unfortunately due to a conflict I didn't go. The Munson's stores are so strategically placed across the state, that no matter where you're coming from or where you live there's a Munson's store close to your proximity. The Glastonbury store is located in Somerset Square. I walked inside, the floors are glistening, the glass is glistening. All of the chocolates are looking scrumptious and delicious. The truffles are separated by milk and dark. There are so many filling options. There's a variety of bark. They will do a chocolate covered banana, which is so tasty. Today I got three boxes and filled them with an assortment of truffles. The girl packaging them for me said "you got it" after each time I made a selection. I am looking forward to giving them to the three recipients tomorrow. Since summer is fast approaching and these are prone to melting, please do not leave them exposed to heat. My experience at Munson's of Glastonbury was nothing short of completely satisfying, from the service to the super tasty chocolate. read more

Munsons is quality chocolate and this location has EXCELLENT service - visited today and 2 exceptionally nice women were working I was offered a champagne chocolate truffle sample that was delicious. I got a box of mixed chocolates for my husband and potato chip bark for myself (sweet/salty goodness) the store is well organized and super clean. The woman who helped me made a great recommendation of a peanut butter caramel that my husband loved. read more

They gave us samples of their dark chocolate caramel truffle and pumpkin fudge upon arrival, and then we ordered one of: Coconut truffle Dark champagne truffle Dark orange truffle Apple pie spice truffle Pumpkin truffle And it was all not even $5! I would have paid triple for such high-quality artisanal chocolate. It's now my goal to try every single one of their pieces! read more

Munson's chocolate are probably my favorite. I'm a milk chocolate fan while my husband loves his dark chocolate. We've come to Munson's for years and have our family favorites for Christmas and Easter. The Somerset location is always clean, organized and well stocked. The associates here are friendly and efficient and will accommodate any special requests! I often buy the " break apart" chocolate for baking or choc covered strawberries. really? never reviewed, huh, ok, well here we goooooooo meh, thats what i think, average, sure a better product than say...walgreens, but the cost to benefit ratio is not there, so theres that. they are also local, so thats a plus, but this store in particular was a big ol' mess of people, service was spotty too, but come on, its holiday week, tons of people to negotiate, is that legit for an excuse? no, but ill cut some slack, see, 3 stars, not a jerk 1 star which i do every so often. 26 bucks a pound for standard milk/dark mixed chocolate, panned candy is less, top shelf truffles are more. they have boxed candy which i give the support people at work, its nicer than the janky russell stover you give to the letter carriers (dont forget the trash people too, they haul your dood) superfudge read more

Munson's chocolates has been my family's choice chocolatier for ages. I remember my Dad stopping by the airport shop on his way home from Bradley, and getting us the munsonette "cookies" (a circular, flat-ish chocolate with mini m&ms in it). Now that I'm older and can afford any quality chocolate I want, and live in Boston, I still daydream about Munson's and stop by every chance I get. It's not quite new, but recently they have started doing chocolate dipped bananas and ice cream sandwiches. Dreamy! Some of my personal favorites are the peanut butter milk caramels, chocolate covered Jordan crackers, and chocolate covered s'mores. I also am obsessed with their...I forget what it's called. Chocolate covered toffee with chopped nuts on top. It's my mom's personal favorite, and annoyingly even if we get some to share, she eats it all. Rude! I went to a wedding where the party favors were a 4 pack of Munson's truffles, and my sister and I went bananas. We snatched as many as we could! read more

I have never had tastier chocolate, and I've done quite a bit of sampling. Munson's has an incredible variety of delicious treats, including strange inventions that end up being surprisingly tasty, such as chocolate mixed with broken potato chips (bringing my junk food intake to unprecedented levels). Sometimes it's fun to just walk into the shop- the enveloping smell of sweet decadence quickly washes away stress (unless you realize you don't have any money to spend, at which point the stress gives way to sheer agony). For the chocolate lover, liker, sampler, dilettante, whatever. Just try it, and you'll be VERY glad you did. read more

I am a chocoholic. Connecticut has one of the best local chocolate makers around--Munson's. If you have friends and family visiting you from out of state take them to one of the Munson's locations. The truffles are the best most especially the white caramel truffle. Their malted milk balls are huge and disappear rather quickly -- from my bag that is. If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit the Mother Ship in Bolton -- factory seconds really cheap. You know what, it's all good. read more

I WAS a frequent customer here, as I have an office right down the road. On several occasions I have had the same employer, Sarah, who has been unwelcoming and rude- but this last visit really put me over the edge as it concerned the quality of your products. It was about two months ago, and I was with a friend purchasing some chocolates. Not only was she unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome- but she was also rubbing her runny nose with her gloves. It was extremely unsanitary as she not only opened the bags for the chocolates with the gloved hand, but she used that hand to pick up the chocolates. At the time this was happening I was extremely aggravated at the service I was receiving, but also embarrassed to say something because I am a frequent customer and I knew I would be back and didn't want to face her again. In retrospect, I haven't been back to that location, and I'm not quite sure I ever will be. I'm very upset with the quality of service I have received on several occasions as well as disgusted by the fact that I threw out an expensive bag of chocolates that were touched by an unsanitary employee. As an added note- I contacted their 'customer service' and was told that my email would be forwarded to the manager at this location. HA. It has been two months and I have STILL not heard anything from them and don't expect to. DO NOT GO HERE. RUDE EMPLOYEES, UNSANITARY EMPLOYEES. read more
