I really wanted to like this place, I really did. However it seemed to fall short on many levels and I struggled with the 3-star rating because it really could have been better. I stopped in for a takeout lunch and grabbed four slices and a drink. Normally when I try a pizza place I go for the plain cheese slice first (b/c if you can't do that well I'm not interested in anything else) but they didn't have any available so I'll go slice by slice with this review. First up was the White Pizza, simple pie with Ricotta, Mozzarella and Parmigiano. This wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't very flavorful. Most places will use a garlic and herb base or something to give it some extra flavor but this was just ok. The Chicken-Bacon-Ranch was probably the best of the four I tried, though it was a little light on the toppings. If it had a bit more chicken and/or bacon I would have enjoyed it a lot more than I did but overall it was good, but could be much better. The Buffalo Chicken pizza was not what I am used to. I'm spoiled by the version that Hometown Pizza does where the chicken chunks are breaded and sauced and the finished pie is topped with bleu cheese dressing. This was a pizza with shredded chicken and hot sauce so, technically buffalo chicken but like the other slices, lacking on the toppings so hard to say it was anything other than just "OK". The Big Mac slice was really the biggest disappointment. First off, the Big Mac is a BURGER and there was hardly any burger on the pizza at all. Though there were some sesame seeds present there were none on the crust. The primary toppings here seem to be the 'sauce' and lettuce which tasted more like Russian dressing than "Big Mac" sauce. It's a nice enough place, cozy inside and the staff is friendly for the most part, I wouldn't mind sitting down for a nice lunch but, as many others have mentioned there are a LOT of good pizza places within a short distance so I'm not sure I'll be coming back anytime soon. I'm not sure why they're so light on the toppings but if your slice pies are that skimpy there's no way I'd order a whole pie. Barely three stars. read more

I thought it was weird that a pizza joint would be this quiet on a Friday night but now I know why. I decided to try this spot out as I was in the area and needed to grab dinner. Wanted something easy to bring home. I read about the Big Mac pizza and I just had to try it. The girl that took my order was super nice and friendly. They had one slice left and it looked like it had been sitting there for a while but I was already committed. Decided to add a Caprese salad in place of more pizza. There are seats inside, but it seems like this is more of a take out kind of vibe so I ordered everything to go. The pizza: well that was disappointing. The ratio is all wrong - needs way more meat on it. Not a fan. The salad: not quite what I was expecting. It was big but not enjoyable. Ingredients didn't seem very fresh. With so many other great places to grab pizza from in Glastonbury (Angelo's, Giovanni's, etc) I would recommend going somewhere else if you're looking for a good pie! read more

Scheduled an order for take out on Valentine's Day. Best Sicilian pizza I've had in a long time. It was ready on time and hot. There is only one size which was very large and we ate it for three meals alongside a homemade salad. Will definitely return. Service was great as well and prices were reasonable. read more

I recently visited the Glastonbury Slice Works for the first time, although I've been to the Berlin one. As the name implies, Slice Works sells pizza slices. They also sell pasta, grinders, salads and whole pizzas. I understand they may share some DNA with the various Illiano's in CT. For my first visit, I ordered a slice of what seemed to imitate the Big Mac. It had burger crumbles, shredded lettuce, secret-ish sauce, cheese. The outer part of the crust included sesame seeds to emulate the burger bun. It was well executed, but for balance, it needed more burger pieces. While the Berlin Slice Works is more of a takeout spot that has limited stool and ledge seating, Glastonbury actually has a fairly nice seating area with numerous tables. I ate there and would do it again. I also note that this plaza has a number of very good food businesses. Square foot for square foot, it may have the best collection of connected food business in Glastonbury. Brown Butter Creations. El Pollo Guapo. Pick and Mix. Whole Deli. Zinneken's Waffles. Great pizza! I loved the topping options and that they obviously do slices. I have only 4 stars cus I didn't dine in only did take out. The customer service was great. The girl at the counter was so nice , she gave me a sample of the margarita pizza which was the best I loved it!! And cookies were massive , gooey and so good!! Today I had the most incredible slice of pizza that was the buffalo chicken pizza. First of all the slice size is like having 2 very big. This is very tasty and crispy under the crust and not soggy. My kids had the Pepperoni and cheese which they liked a lot and enjoyed it. I have tried the Big Mac before which is another awesome tasty one. You won't be disappointed and no wait since they have them made already in the front during lunch time. The restaurant is very simple inside. Think they have a lot of takeout. Also there garlic knots are .75 cents each and so good as they come with homemade sauce to dip it in. read more

I went online to order "The Works" pizza and found out that while you can add items to your pizza, you can not remove an item. Due to that fact, I called Slice Works in Glastonbury and specifically requested NO MUSHROOMS because they make me ill. I went to pick up the pizza, paid for it and tipped the staff 15%. I should have looked at the pizza. When I got home 20 minutes later, to my surprise, the pizza had nearly 2 cups of MUSHROOMS! It took me 15 minutes to pick them all off, and by then, the pizza was cold, so I had to pull out the pizza stone and heat the oven. The icing on the cake was when I actually got to try the pizza. My experience? The pizza was soggy to the point that that the toppings slid off when I picked up a slice and the ingredients used were the quality of a Little Ceasar pizza. When I called Pizza Works to let them know about the mushrooms, while apologetic, the manager did not offer to replace the pizza or offer any kind of compensation. Really enjoyed my recent visit to slice works. The employees were super nice when I entered and hooked me up with a fresh sample. Tons of options to choose from. I ended up going with the grandmas Sicilian slice and a Spinach roll. The bread of the Sicilian slice was crispy and very flavorful. For the two items, I spent around 11 dollars. I went in for a slice at lunchtime one day, and it was good. They heated up something that was pre-made, but they didn't heat it up enough, but I didn't ask them to heat it more -- my problem. However, we gave them a shot at a whole, white/garlic, thin-crust pie with thinly-sliced, breaded-nd-fried eggplant and ricotta, and it wasn't good at all -- it was SOOOOO good. Tried out this new place that opened in Glastonbury. It is in the corner shop in a strip mall. There was no one eating there at the time I went in, first things first we were offered a two small cheese pizza slices to try while we were looking at the menu, that's a first and I like it. I asked for a recommendation and was told to try the Buffalo chicken and the Big Mac, I ordered a slice each and a Stromboli for my son. The service was so quick and the food came out real quick. The Big Mac has a sesame seed crust, I had to send it back and order something else because of my allergies. They totally accommodated and let me choose another pizza slice, this time I got the chicken bacon ranch. Both pizzas are delicious and nicely made, I loved the taste of the Buffalo chicken it has got a slight kick to it. The chicken bacon ranch was amazing as well, I couldn't finish it whole so I took it back home to enjoy it the next day. The Stromboli was amazing too, it is nicely cooked and has a lot of ingredients, highly recommend to try this one. The place offers salads and deserts as well got to try them the next time I go. The cost is very decent less than $10 per person, go here if you want the best pizza by the slice at a reasonable cost. If you are in Glastonbury please go and try this place. Inventive flavors (the baked potato and Big Mac ones are the stand outs) and the ingredients are generous. Came with the family yesterday, the kids and husband got slices which were fine but my Cobb salad was awful. $16 for processed chicken (machine formed breast look alike) that was cold and pink. They ran out of egg, the avocado was not ripe- hard as a rock. Was not served with cheese crumbles or any sort of traditional Cobb dressing. This is our new go-to for pizza in Glastonbury. It's basically NY-style, with big slices, although maybe a bit thicker crust than what you're used to with true NY-style. It's basically the right balance between thick and thin. It's not too greasy and everything tastes fresh. The crust is good. So far we've only done takeout, but they do have a patio and a few tables inside. read more

Anyone who does like this place doesn't have an appreciation for or never had New York metro pizza. This place is exactly like New York with pizza by the slice and many different options. The garlic knots are top notch, and the grandma slice is one of the best I've had since leaving New York. I'm not sure the universe really requires a pizza-fied version of the Big Mac, but here it is. Some all beef patty, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a Neopolitan crust. I am excited to have a new tasty pizza place that offers many options as slices so I can try many flavors before comitting to an entire pie. My picky daughter likes thier cheese pizza ($4/slice) and my son like to try all thier creative slices with toppings ($5/slice), most recently eating the Big Mac pizza which was surprisingly good, but of course did not really taste like pizza (just looked like it). The slices are sizable, one will cover most people for lunch, 2 will completely fill you up. Crust is on the thinner side, and I really like the dough as its still soft and chewy inside. Expect to wait about 3-4 minutes after you order your slice for it to warm backup in their oven. I'm looking forward to ordering a whole pie from here and to try one of their apps the next time we order pizza take out for the family. read more
