Like a Big Mac, but make it a pizza
    Jason P.

I recently visited the Glastonbury Slice Works for the first time, although I've been to the Berlin one. As the name implies, Slice Works sells pizza slices. They also sell pasta, grinders, salads and whole pizzas. I understand they may share some DNA with the various Illiano's in CT. For my first visit, I ordered a slice of what seemed to imitate the Big Mac. It had burger crumbles, shredded lettuce, secret-ish sauce, cheese. The outer part of the crust included sesame seeds to emulate the burger bun. It was well executed, but for balance, it needed more burger pieces. While the Berlin Slice Works is more of a takeout spot that has limited stool and ledge seating, Glastonbury actually has a fairly nice seating area with numerous tables. I ate there and would do it again. I also note that this plaza has a number of very good food businesses. Square foot for square foot, it may have the best collection of connected food business in Glastonbury. Brown Butter Creations. El Pollo Guapo. Pick and Mix. Whole Deli. Zinneken's Waffles. If you live near Glastonbury, that's definitely a plaza that should be in your life. Four Stars

Today I had the most incredible slice of pizza that was the buffalo chicken pizza. First of all the slice size is like having 2 very big. This is very tasty and crispy under the crust and not soggy. My kids had the Pepperoni and cheese which they liked a lot and enjoyed it. I have tried the Big Mac before which is another awesome tasty one. You won't be disappointed and no wait since they have them made already in the front during lunch time. The restaurant is very simple inside. Think they have a lot of takeout. Also there garlic knots are .75 cents each and so good as they come with homemade sauce to dip it in.

Lots of unwanted mushrooms, no pepperoni, and a manager who would not fix the problem.

I went online to order "The Works" pizza and found out that while you can add items to your pizza, you can not remove an item. Due to that fact, I called Slice Works in Glastonbury and specifically requested NO MUSHROOMS because they make me ill. I went to pick up the pizza, paid for it and tipped the staff 15%. I should have looked at the pizza. When I got home 20 minutes later, to my surprise, the pizza had nearly 2 cups of MUSHROOMS! It took me 15 minutes to pick them all off, and by then, the pizza was cold, so I had to pull out the pizza stone and heat the oven. The icing on the cake was when I actually got to try the pizza. My experience? The pizza was soggy to the point that that the toppings slid off when I picked up a slice and the ingredients used were the quality of a Little Ceasar pizza. When I called Pizza Works to let them know about the mushrooms, while apologetic, the manager did not offer to replace the pizza or offer any kind of compensation. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

Really enjoyed my recent visit to slice works. The employees were super nice when I entered and hooked me up with a fresh sample. Tons of options to choose from. I ended up going with the grandmas Sicilian slice and a Spinach roll. The bread of the Sicilian slice was crispy and very flavorful. For the two items, I spent around 11 dollars. If you're a slice person, definitely worth checking out.

I did not go into the restaurant, we got take out. I enjoyed my Veggie Stuffed slice. I will certainly try other slice options in the future.

We've been here a number of times - for lunch, tea time, dinner - it's a great place to get a slice if that's all you're feeling! And the slices are great and BIG! Inventive flavors (the baked potato and Big Mac ones are the stand outs) and the ingredients are generous. Definitely a place to keep in mind when you're craving just a little something or a place to get an entire pizza if you're hungry!

Also, the Chick-fil-A drive thru which dominates the three restaurants in the building was jammin. So cars were coming and going like it was rush-hour on the Long Island Expressway. We ordered at the counter, and the food was delivered to us at our table. There were two televisions, going one with a football game on it from I don't know where or who is playing, and the Senate hearings were going on another television. In the background was music. It was a little busy noise wise to say the least. I ordered a lamb Gyro, , which which included tzatziki sauce, cucumber, tomato, and onion. Also included with this order, were shoestring french fries that were well seasoned, crisp, and on point. The fries reminded me of McDonald's. Also included was a fountain drink. The restaurant was slow, with one party of two just finishing up when we walked in. I saw only one other customer walk in when we were eating. So in other words, this place was dead. Jersey Mike's next-door was hopping, along with two doors down Chick-fil-A. Lunch was quite expensive at $32 for two. My friend had a cheesesteak with fries which didn't look big at all. All in all, I don't see the value here. The food was good, but really pricey. This was a destination to try once. On the way out, I did notice pizzas on the counter selling per slice. Those didn't look appetizing. With so many restaurants in Glastonbury, there are many better choices than this On a positive note, it was nice seeing the lamb carved from a spit that was going behind the counter.

When we first arrived,…read moreoutside the door was marked as "Adriatik's Catering" I wasn't sure if this is where Catering orders come out of, but it turns out it's all one place. The inside was entirely empty, a few people stopped by to pick up their orders, but no one was dining inside. On the wall they have awards they've received from 2011 to 2025, all for being in the top 10 restaurants. It was a bit awkward being the only ones here, but there are bigger issues in the world. Their menu offers pizzas, pasta, gyros, salads and more. We first got an order of their sautéed calamari. This had a nice tender and chewy texture. This is unlike what most places offer. The sauce was also very flavorful, we actually ate it by the spoonful like a soup. Their garlic bread was great for dipping into the sauce. Not a very garlicky garlic bread but not bad. We all got some variation of the gyro, with salad, fries or rice. Mine was with the Greek Salad. This Greek Salad was very fresh and the feta cheese on it sealed it all together. Unfortunately the lamb in the gyro was very overcooked and dry. It wasn't good at all. The tzatziki sauce is always a favorite. Overall I wasn't super impressed with my meal. I might stop by sometime in the future and try something else.

But as we know this IS the spot on the map for the best pizza, not the south end of the state, its up here in the middle. And Adriatik blends right in. Got that greeky crust going on, thicker than that lame thin New Haven stuff. A decent sauce, not too sweet, not too much 'zing'. You wont be getting heartburn from it. Works for me. You looking for a pasta dish, you'll find something worth checking out. Baked Manicotti was good. Prices are getting up there, as they are everywhere. Plenty of tables inside, has an old school pizza place vibe. Staff is always friendly and happy to see you. The place around the corner in the same mall ( starts with a G) always seems to have more cars, must be the booze cus the food over there sucks. Adriatik, go there.

Everything was exceptional, from the drinks and ambiance to the salads, entrées, and desserts. The kale salad was fresh and delicious, the Pasta alla Vodka was outstanding, and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan (I completely forgot to take a picture because she was so excited to dig in!). The hazelnut pie was the perfect way to end the meal and cobbler pie A special shout-out to Rory, who took such great care of us. I was hoping for a Dubai Chocolate Espresso Martini, which wasn't on the menu, and she went above and beyond by checking with the bartender and putting in a special request for me. That thoughtful gesture made my evening extra special and truly reflected the outstanding hospitality. We left happy, full, and already looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend and more sensible way was giving the salads separately in two plates. We mentioned we would be sharing the salad and pasta Ella vodka which was the first time I have ever seen in a restaurant, most restaurants would give a big one and we need to portion it out. We started with the shrimp alla vodka pasta, which was genuinely good and a dish I'd order again. We also shared an apple arugula salad that was fresh and well balanced, along with a side of fries that were just okay -- nothing special, but they did the job. The evening didn't start off smoothly, though. The restaurant was busy, and the wait to be seated took a while. Once we were seated, the service was okay at best -- attentive enough to get our order right, but not particularly warm or fast. That became more of an issue when our prosecco arrived flat. We had to work to get our waiter's attention to have it replaced, and it took much longer than it should have for someone to notice and follow up. We also tried a lavender vodka drink, which ended up being a bit of a letdown. It was expensive for what amounted to a small pour, and honestly the best part of it was the fancy glass it came in -- the drink itself didn't quite justify the price. Overall, the food carried the night. The pasta and salad were highlights, and I'd come back for those alone. But the service hiccups and pricey, underwhelming cocktails took some shine off the experience. If you go, stick to the pasta and maybe skip the specialty drinks.
