I wanted to purchase a book that was on my TBR list, so we decided to visit the bookstore. I walked in, and the same woman greeted us with what felt like a forced hello. I asked if they had a certain book. I wasn't sure whether it was classified as a thriller or a mystery, so I said thriller. They did have the book, but when she handed it to me, she said, "It's actually horror," in a condescending and mean tone. I certainly hope she isn't the owner because she could use some serious customer service training. At the very least, she could learn how to be kind to customers. I definitely will NOT be back.

But what impressed me, and blessed me most, was the neighborhood ministry this store owner was operating. A number of folks came in to see if they could help her with anything. Clearly she is a help and a light to them. It is a wonder any bookstore stays in operation these days, let alone Christian bookstores. Boxes are labeled but don't seem to be in any logical order and there were a bunch of boxes we couldn't even look at because they were underneath a plastic table cloth with stuff on top of them. Also, there was a boxes Funko Pop on the shelf. I went to grab it to ask my husband if it was one he needed for his collection and I was told to be careful because it wasn't for sale. Alright. Maybe that needs to be on a shelf behind the counter then. Or there needs to be a sign on that shelf that says nothing on it is for sale. Alas.
