Over a year ago, a neighbor showed me this place in Palm Springs and it forever changed my birthday, celebratory, and card giving game in the best way. Greetings has a huge selection of hilarious adult cards as well as innocent cards to give to friends, family, and loved ones. The cards are all reasonably priced, and I got a funny adult one for an upcoming birthday for my friend. I spoke with the owner while checking out, and he is a really nice person. He told me that they've been here for a long time but are originally from San Francisco area. I have been coming here for over 35 yrs. They have the best racey, funny and unique cards. They also have great art prints and gift bags. The service was very friendly. The walls are lined with cards (often risqué and hilarious!) for every imaginable event. The charming owners are knowledgeable, helpful, and informative. They know their wares and can help you find just the right cards. Prices are reasonable (good thing, because I found many items I didn't even know I needed, but had to have!). A giant greeting card place owned by lovely men. There are so many options, literally a whole store full! I took photos of the place, somehow not realizing there are signs all over the store saying no photos. To the owners, I'm sorry, I genuinely did not see the signs, I have no idea how. But once I noticed, I no longer took photos. I only wanted to take photos to add to my review! I want the people of Yelp to check this place out! I called a few days before about this present for my grandson's wedding I needed wrapped. I spoke to Chris and he said no problem, he was the best bow maker around. So I went in and they only had two papers to choose from. No problem I chose the one I thought was best out of the two. When I came back 3 hrs later it looked like it was for Halloween. It was black ribbon with a burnt orange ribbon. I stayed calm and said that it did not look like it was weddingish, that that the black & orange looked halloween. He was getting upset with me and kept insisting it was gold. I said please don't be upset, it just doesn't work for me. How much would it cost to redo the ribbon. He said the same, another $25. I said when could I get it and he said at least a couple of hours. I said it's 4 now and you close at 6, he just looked at me. So he wanted me to pay double an pick it up the next day. I had to do everything in my power not to break down and cry. I have never been treaded so rudely in my life. I took the package to Hobby Lobby, they were so kind and helped me find some stuff to try and fix it. They were kind, he was rude and downright mean! I can't believe any owner would want someone liked him serving their customers! He said he had been working there for 14 years, maybe it's time for him to retire!!! read more

OK, so I can see this place has gotten so many negative reviews that mine will fit right in. I went in for the first time and noticed about 1,000 NO PHOTOS signs, all over the place. I think there were more of these signs than merchandise. Sullen, unfriendly employees wandered around watching customers as if we were literally intruding. My purchase was rung up by an unfriendly man, then I was coldly looked at by someone else before I quickly left. I guess I don't need to say more as there are dozens of people here with the same experience. Their merchandise was not that great, not as stylish or fun as some of the other shops, and it's impossible to enjoy oneself when you are treated with suspicion, almost as if you are just being tolerated. This was one of the weirdest experiences at a store I've ever had. An employee of the store seemed to be following us throughout the store. I initially thought he was trying to catch us stealing things but based on the reviews here he was just waiting for us to record before yelling at us. I went in the store today with a few friends. Had to take a FaceTime call right as I entered. And the minute I walked in the guy inside was was yelling, from across the store , across everyone that was in the store "no filming! No filming!" I'm sorry. Your designs are nice but no where near even remotely original. None of your stuff is. And yelling that right across the room in front of everyone as I just walked in with a bunch of my friends, completely unprepared and just answering a FaceTime call, that was rude. My son & I were in Palm Springs recently for the John Mayer concert, so we did some shopping. Stopped into "Greetings" to see what I could find. What a cute store, so much to look at and admire. They have lots of cute cards and fun little items you don't need but want!! I noticed several items painted by an artist by the name of Glen Hanson, I am now following him on IG. I've always been a fan of caricatures and boy is Mr. Hanson talented. His art is so cool, most of the items I liked were of pop culture like The Golden Girls, Brady Bunch, Actresses and Icons. I really wanted the Prince coaster but opted for my 2nd favorite of all time George Michael!!! I also picked up my daughter a Beatles postcard as a souvenir. This shop is really fun to visit. The customer service was great and the man that helped me was super nice! I will definitely stop by next time we are in town to spend more time & money. read more

I am a full time resident of Palm Springs and appreciate the fact that Greetings has a great and fun selection of cards and merchandise. However every time I exit the store I tell myself "I'm done with shopping here. The staff just doesn't seem to appreciate my business." Due to the great selection of merchandise, I weaken, lessen my values and shop there again. Today was the last straw. I walked in, an employee was working in the aisle, I said Good Morning and received not even a smile. I purchased a few cards (amounting to over $60.00), went to the register, paid for my items and said to a different employee Thank you. I said Thank You THREE TIMES and this employee didn't reply with a thank you, or you're welcome or come again...nothing. That's it Greetings. Perhaps you think all your customers are tourists and you don't need to be respectful or maybe you just need to refresh yourselves on the true definition of Greeting, but you've lost me as a customer. My Business Ethics are better than yours. I only noticed after I checked in on Yelp that the store does not allow photos of their store. So sorry "Greetings"!!! This is a gem of a store where you can find cards, stationary, books, CDs, and a lot of other other silly, whimsical and fun stuff! They had some very nice coffee table photo books of celebrities, like Audrey Hepburn (such a pretty, timeless beauty). I liked the "Bald Guy" cards, a sort of dry humor that my son would appreciate. I picked up gag gifts of Tabasco jelly beans for my son, and a Public Toilet Survival Kit for my sister who is going overseas next month for vacation. There were lots more of silly things like this in the store. The guy at the counter (not sure if he was an owner) also suggested I try the Tabasco spicy chocolate. Such a weird and bad experience. My friends and I entered the store excited to shop and peruse. I understand from other reviews that no photos are allowed; I however didn't see any signage about this upon entering the store so was unaware of the rule. Upon walking in I saw something a friend of mine could be interested in so I wanted to share a photo of it to see if I should buy it. As soon as I took out my phone an employee yelled at me. I quickly said sorry, but it really ruined our experience. We felt uncomfortable and left a couple minutes later without buying anything. I totally respect that rules are rules but it seems clear from other reviewers that the no-photos rule isn't clear to everyone. I don't think it's asking too much for a courteous reminder that photos aren't allowed. Delightful, eclectic, unique and colorful shop filled with wonderful products artistically coordinated through well-organized aisles. The 1960s are alive in this shop, particularly in the merchandise of Glen Hanson, an artist whose renderings of TV show characters is priceless. I particularly enjoy Hanson's rendering of Samantha from Bewitched - amazing. This shop is geared towards adults, but I did find unicorn bandaids for my nephews. There are some hilarious birthday cards made in the USA. I was attracted to the store by its front window display featuring a mug with the Brady Bunch family, captured in cartoon form. I was surprised by the amount of items in the shop, as I only expected cards. In addition to a nice supply of greeting cards, there are mugs, umbrellas, socks, bags, puzzles, art work, butterfly wall hanging, coasters (my favorite: don't do anything you don't want to explain to a nurse) and much more. Everything is organized by theme- if you're a Volkswagen enthusiast, VW miniature replicas sit on top of VW puzzles. The owner was very friendly. I hadn't noticed the "no photos" sign so apologized and confessed to taking photos for Yelp. He was understanding and supportive of this. All the negative reviews on here are absolutely accurate. After looking at some of their over priced cartoon mugs - I was yelled at " NO PHOTOS". Then the 2 bitter old men said to each other "Cant they read the sign at the door?" Actually. I can read. And you have the signs all over the place like you are selling some rare items from a museum. It's all overpriced copies. The store used to have very nice things. Clocks, Art work, Books and unique Christmas Cards. Now it's consumed by a few artists. Books you can't open. And the holiday cards are so generic you might as well go to the Dollar Tree and save yourself some money. Everything that can be bought online for less. I'd never take anyone here. Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce should be notified as they are leaving everyone who visits a bad impression of the people who live here. read more

wow. I guess it wasn't just me! You can find many fun and clever items in this overpriced shop but the terrible customer service I recvd from an angry and bitter clerk took me by surprize. He was hovering around as I looked for a few gift items. I asked a few questions about some items and was met with a condescending and snippy attitude. I was the only customer in the store. He "scolded" me for flipping thru some drawing stacked in plastic covers at the cash register because that would damage them. huh? I found a Christmas ornament I wanted to buy hanging above the T shirts but only a display piece, no others to be seen that I could buy. I pointed to the item and asked if they have more someplace else I could buy - he snapped, "$19.95"! I repeated the question and he again snapped " WELL, you need to tell me which one you want so I can get it in the back"! WTF did he think?? The one you just told me was $19.95 is the one I want! OK, now it's on. I firmly advised him I was the customer and he needs to treat me as such and be nicer. He said I need to know what I want. Again, wow. I asked if he was the owner; "I am the MGR & the one who does the ordering". I told him I would not come back and he said "that's fine, go and don't come back" and that is just what I did. After reading similar comments I see this is his m.o. Bitter and nasty people should not work in retail. Luckily for the absentee owners this store has a good location, fun things and an endless stream of tourists coming in because repeat customers are probably rare with such a jerk for an employee. read more
