The food is delicious and all the staff are wonderful. It's definitely the ideal neighbourhood pub to have a couple drinks and some food.

We went here Tuesday at 4:00 and there were a few people in the bar and some playing pool. We ordered happy hour drinks (3-7pm everyday) Beer was cold, drinks were good. Food was pretty good. Our waitress was excellent, the place was clean however the washroom could use some TLC. There was only one working also. Honestly, it was very quiet, was looking for alittle more upbeat pub. The food at the pub is amazing. They have such a variety and everything is really good.. pricing is amazing. Staff is like incredible. The owners are really nice guy and is always a hands-on always out and helping out the staff and food and saying hi to everybody.. I would recommend this bar to anybody good people good food parking can be hard sometimes. Love the place though. read more

When the boys and I came here on a Thursday, which was wing night! Only the wings are $.50 (veggies and dips(i.e. crudités) can be included for an extra price). There are lots of varieties of wings, ranging from "wet flavours"(e.g. hot, medium, suicide, BBQ, teriyaki) to "dry flavours"(e.g. salt and pepper, mango Habanero, Cajun, buffalo, lemon pepper). We ordered the salt and pepper, maple bacon, dill pickle, and white Cheddar wings, which were flavourful and finger lickin' good! Our server was efficient, friendly, and knowledgable. Towards the end of our meal, our son was still hungry, so he decided to try the perogies with sour cream and sautéed garlic and onions. It was very odd that he had to leave our table to track down our server to place the order. When the perogies finally arrived at our table, they were both fragrant and delicious. this bar is a really good bar that serves the community well. it's on the right side of "edgy" with a great owner and staff. I don't often eat in pubs ( I prefer to go home and cook) but last night I decided to get the Ginger Beef to take out. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. the beef was exactly as I expected with a slight crunch. the vegetables were crunchy and tasted fresh. although I have given this 4 Stars, as a pub it is in my opinion excellent for the neighborhood. because I am reviewing the food, I gave it 4 Stars because meh!... it's pub food!!. incidentally, I am not a wings man but my friend who is an aficionado, rates them very highly and from what I can see. Wednesday Wings night is very popular, so they must be doing something right!!. read more

Not a good atmosphere. Fruit flys were swarming me at the bar. Told me if I didn't like it to leave. Then proceeded to bar me. I suppose it doesn't matter to them if they land in your drink or on your cocktail fruit. Gross misconduct. No stars needed here. read more

First time in tonight. Wings were on special - tasty and lots of flavours. Ended up playing a few rounds of pool. Service was very friendly and inviting and the beers were cold. Definitely will be back in the future, especially when the weather heats up and can walk to it haha. Very enjoyable evening - owner is nice and friendly as well! read more

Best pub food in Cowtown! Wings are indescribable, the Corn Chowder mouthwatering spoon after spoonful, could have licked that bowl clean. Had a steak that was cooked perfect and the seasoning bursting with flavour. Quality was not compromised for price. First visit but won't be the last. Murdochs is one of my favorite watering holes in Calgary hands down!! Not only is the staff attentive, knowledgeable and friendly but the owner (mike) is a great guy who knows his stuff. They have a pretty standard beer selection with a few European treats as well. The atmosphere is super casual and everybody there seems comfortable and relaxed. For being so close to 17th Ave, it doesn't seem like your even in Calgary anymore (which for some is a welcomed escape). With the abundance of TVs and a full subscription to every sports channel there is, this is definitely a place to come with friends and enjoy a pint, pub fare and the game, whatever your game is. They pour a PROPER pint of Guinness which, like a great pub in Calgary, is sometimes hard to find. Cheers and happy dinning!! read more

My favourite local spot to grab a drink a bite. I can't say enough about how I dislike the faux Irish pub epidemic that has Calgary captivated. What's nice about Murdoch's is that is has it's own identity without trying too hard. It's a pretty unassuming establishment with decent quality food. Although I could live without the VLTs. Homemade burgers and pizza crusts are a big draw. Wild Rose beer on tap seals the deal for me! Staff is usually pretty friendly as well. read more

Tried Murdoch's for the first time last Friday, droped in for supper about 5pm, I had the steak Sandwich, my wife had the fish & chips. Both were excellent! I also had the broccoli soup, very good if you like broccoli .... (lots of garlic) Great service, great food. We liked it so much we tried Murdoch's again Monday morning @ 10:30am for breakfast. Again great food and great service, only one choice for breakfast, eggs, pan fried spuds, toast and your choice bacon or ham. Breakfast was excellent! We will be back regularly. read more

It's a diamond in the rough. It was a little more happening under the previous owner but the new ones are keeping the tradition alive. This is THE spot for soccer, Gaelic football events etc. The service is exceptional. There are great craft beers on tap, excellent atmosphere and the food is excellent. The crowd can be hit and miss, but the weekend is always interesting with open jam nights and pool tournaments. It's a local SW legend! read more

If you come to this "watering hole" outside the hours of nine to five you will probably get descent service, the only catch is if its eleven on a Friday - the place is deserted. Skip this place and just head to Donegals Across the street where there will be more people, similar pricing and you won't feel super awkward trying to talk quietly to your friends. read more

Service is good but the food is horrible. I ordered a burger and yam fries. The burger was so dry, it tasted like sawdust and crumbled the same way. There was no mustard on the burger and no mustard in the condiment/cutlery kit on the table so I asked for some and was given a small dish of what looked like possibly dijon mustard and mayonnaise, not regular yellow mustard and had no flavour at all. Why no regular mustard? The homemade (whose home I wonder) yam fries were OK, but just OK, and the chipotle mayo served alongside was a greasy disaster with zero flavour. It was actually separated with some kind of oil floating on the top. This is my second visit to Murdoch's. The first time it was a busy evening and I wrote off the bad experience to an overworked kitchen and staff but this time the place had only one other table with patrons so there was no excuse. One of the worst meals I've had in Calgary and if anyone ever suggests this greasy spoon again I will refuse. read more

What a disappointment. 35 minutes plus to wait for food. Waitress told us there was only one cook. Not impressed. Hopefully the food is worth the long wait. Got our food and it definitely was not worth the wait. One meal had chicken on it and the chicken didn't taste right. Got it sent back and replaced. My meal was the Ukrainian platter and the cabbage rolls were covered in marinara sauce as opposed to tomato sauce and the Sploumbos sausage was dry and very spicy. I won't be back. read more

Nice relaxed atmosphere. A dive bar feel which lets all kinds of people mingle. Go here fairly often with my boss who is a bit of an obnoxious drunk but the bartender always seems to keep a smile on his face. The food is just bar food and nothing special at all. Great for darts and pool. Karaoke sound system is awful, but people have fun. read more

Their prized competition burger was well below average. It was dry and had a weird acidic flavour. I could only choke down a third of it. I sent it back and ordered wings instead. They charged me for it nonetheless. Their burger came in third last year. I doubt they'll do as well this year. read more

Murduch's is a neighborhood pub for me and I used to enjoy going there. Last night however, I brought 3 friends with me who had never been before and I was appalled at the treatment we received. It was their $11 steak sandwich night, so all 4 of us ordered the steak sandwich. 3 of our steaks were cooked wrong, and the other came out ice cold. When our bills came we noticed that we had been charged $16.00 for each steak. I went to speak to our server and she gave me some attitude and informed me that they had 2 steak sandwiches and since we hadn't specified she decided to charge us for the more expensive option. I told her that I didn't think that was fair, so she said she'd go speak to the bartender (who I believe was the manager for the evening). When he came to speak to us the first thing he said was, "so what's your problem?" He then informed me that it was somehow our responsibility and not his problem. He was EXTREMELY rude and dismissive to me throughout the entire exchange. At the end he told me that he'd give us 10% off of our bills, which didn't even cover half of the price difference between the two meals, and walked away before I could even respond. It was the worst experience that I've ever had at a bar and I will never go back there. The problems with the food I could deal with, but the bartender was so awful that I was genuinely embarrassed to have brought my friends there. If I could give them 0 stars for this experience, I would. read more
