Not only do they cater to all you animal needs, food, containers, bowls, cages, heat lamps etc etc etc and I mean there's a huge selection of every animal feed imaginable. Chickens are our main reason we go here, not only for chicks but for everything they'll need EVER!! They also have a nice tool department with many name brand tools. There is a wonderful clothing and footwear department that sells many name brands that really appeal to the masses. Hunting apparel, jeans, coats, shirts and accessories. There is usually a really good selection on their clearance rack that I've found amazing deals for bothering me and my husband. But our favorite department is the gun department. They are helpful, knowledgeable and eager to show you anything that you might want to touch. We've been known to go in for chicken food and leave with a gun or two!! Ammo is always stocked and they carry many accessories too. Along with a huge selection of safes. Watch for their sales because they have some pretty awesome deals. But most of all after a big shopping haul right at the check out is a vast array of candy and snacks!! Also hard to resist!! One thing about Murdoch's is their customer service is awesome, always someone takes out our coop shavings and food and insists on loading it all up for us. Regardless of heat, rain or snow.

And the thing that drives me nuts about doing business there is the fact that no employee--not one--wears any kind of shirt, badge, hat or other item identifying them as an employee! Too many times I have embarrassed fellow shoppers by asking "do you work here...?" A new Ace Hardware store is under construction just a few hundred yards west. He went to Ace and they were no help. Then he went to True Value and talked with Rich, and he picked out the fittings and explained how it should go together. I see customers all the time asking Rich for help and suggestions and he can be a miracle worker. You're very lucky to have a business like True Value in Ronan, Montana.

The lumber, pvc pipe, etc. is the weird part. You have to tell them what you want at the register (holding up the line in the process) then drive around out back of the building to go pick it up. There's no way to check prices and look at it first. If you go around back first there's still no prices or cards identifying anything. Plan on paying a handsome price too. As long as you only need a couple items it's better than a trip all the way in to Kalispell though, I guess.

I took my year-old mower in to get the blade sharpened in-mower. They brought it out after 15…read moreminutes and loaded into my car. A couple days later I went to mow, no blade. I called them and brought it up there--I live 25 miles or so from Ronan--and the store manager, Randy, came out and tried to get out of it, saying that I put it on them like they were the ones who screwed up. "You did screw it up! Fix my fucking mower!" Then he got mad and we yelled for a minute. Then he went in, and came back and he totally snapped in front of me and started jabbing his finger in my face. I was furious and said "gimme the goddamn blade" and he did, then he called the cops, saying I was stealing from him even though I had the labor receipt. I was so mad that I didn't even realize I had left the mower there. I called corporate and complained. Randy called and apologized and sent a guy out with my mower and he put my blade on. A couple days later I went to mow, and it was dead. The engine went putt putt and slowed down and died after 5 or 10 seconds. I made more complaints. These stores are all the same owner. I went to the Ace mower repair shop in Polson, another 20-ish miles. The guy fixed it, so he said, and he said he test-mowed for about 20 minutes. He then lied to me about cleaning the air filter. At least it was done... Now, today. 2 days after I took it in for what was supposed to be the last time, it is still the same putt putt die. I have never had this happen before. I am disgusted with this store and I recommend the Tru-Value across the street. The same owner owns the Ace stores in Kalispell, Ronan, Polson, and Missoula. It's a freaking s#1t show.
