It's the taste of home. been in London for two weeks, this place serves the most authentic Chinese i've had in London. I highly recommend this place!

Nice restaurant. We got cocktails during happy hour and a bowl of noodles with great taste. *To anyone reading. Just know the happy hour is 2 for 1 which is amazing, but when ordering let the waiter/ waitress know if you're sharing. A group of 4 ordered drinks and they were about to bring 2 drinks for each of us!

Best noodles you'll ever have. Get the biangbiang with braised pork, unless you don't like spice. Drink an ice peak with it. Somewhere between Fanta and Irn Bru, but better than either. This location or the one on Sackville Street are both great. Sackville Street location has a nicer setting, though. Food's great but service is slow, so don't go in a hurry.

Murger Han was a real let down, food made lazily with no depth or flavour. Their kitchen looked dirty and toilets full of grime. At least upstairs they made an effort to keep it clean. The medium oak decor gave the place a warm feeling. The skylight letting in natural sunlight at the back. However, I wasn't happy about the condiment pots that needed a spoon to scoop out. They looked filthy and people had obviously used one spoon for the chili oil and dipped it again in the salt. And in that morning we were the first customers so it is obvious they did not bother to clean it or refill them with fresh condiments. Service is hit and miss. Most of them are cold, aggressive and absent. On our first visit we ordered: Pork murger. The bun itself was nice, doughy and crispy on the outside. However, the filling was cheap and disappointing. Although juicy, it was incredibly fatty and the juice is probably the fat leaking out. There was also no depth, herbs or greens. But as it was just fat of course it still taste good, just not good for your heart. Pot stewed 3 types of chicken feet, pig ears and tofu. These were bland and not stewed or marinated long enough to take on any flavour. The skin of the feet were still very attached making it very hard to gnaw on. Pig's ear were too hard. Tofu was more acceptable being softer, but the original texture was still very masked from being fridge cold. Flour glass noodles with vegetables in spicy oil and garlic. The noodles were way too thick, losing its ability to cling on the spicy sauce. Seasoning was more spicy than fragrant. Needed more five spice than just chilli. Another let down. Spinach noodles in stir fried tomato sauce with eggs. The noodles were okay. Can't really taste the spinach but they were bouncy although slightly overcooked so they became sticky. The eggs were velvety and together with the tomatoes they came light and somewhat refreshing. But mixed together the flavours were too weak. It definitely needed more seasoning too as after three bites it became boring. Flat noodle in spicy oil This was just about hitting adequate, lacking depth and flavour. I could only taste the chilli. The noodles were also quite clumped together being sticky because it was overcooked. Chicken gyoza This was probably the best and most successful dish of the meal. The skin was thin, chewy yet crispy where it had been lightly fried. The filling was juicy and had a nice mix of greens for a sweeter flavour and texture. Delicious and helped a lot to take the spice away from the other dishes Wanted to give the other dishes a go we came back one evening and ordered: Rice glass noodles A lot better than the flour being much more slippery and soft. The sauce still lacked fragrance but still has that heat that slowly numbs your tongue. Still I love the texture and great for slurping. Shredded murger in beef soup This was a bit plain and probably the blandest I've had, seasoned mostly by salt. Portion was quite small and the bread itself wasn't doughy enough. Beef murger This was probably the most juiciest beef murger I've had being extremely fatty. I was impressed at that alone as I do find most shredded beef dry. But then again it was just fat and very salty too. All very one noted like their pork murger. Dumplings in spicy and sour soup This was so watery. It was almost like they scooped a bit of chilli oil, vinegar and soy into a big bowl of water and served it to us. At least the dumplings were okay, filling juicy and seasoned well. Some were damaged though lacking attention to detail. Pork bone in hot pot with vegetables. Seriously had no idea why they charged £8.80 for something that tasted like all the ingredients chucked in with a bit of salt and a lot of water, wait until it boils and then served in a pot. It was bland and tasteless I couldn't differentiate what I was eating. Murger Han felt like a joke to me, taking advantage that they have little competition in their cuisine so they don't put the full effort in to provide authentic food. Using the bare minimum ingredients, cheap cuts of meat to produce dishes that aren't exactly sold cheap on their menu. Highly disappointing and if anyone stumbles on this page looking for decent Xi'an food then head to Xi'an Impression in Holloway.

Great handpulled noodles with chili sauce. Loved the fish sauce and the ginger topping. Really adds to this dish compared to similar venues. Simple, cheap, lovely.

Food is quite good, real Chinese flavor. However, service is just so so, varies from different waitresses.

Me and my friend had great dinner in Murger-Han. Although I am Chinese, I haven't tried xian food before. This is great experience to me.

Duck & Rice, Soho, London, England -- April 5…read more Our family of four with two kids ages 9 and 10 made our way to Duck & Rice after walking through the Chinatown area, which was absolutely packed and fun to explore, and we were looking for something lively with shareable dishes, and the overall experience felt energetic with some real highs and a few misses. Arrival and First Impressions The space has a strong personality with a mix of pub and restaurant energy and it felt busy from the moment we walked in, matching the chaos outside in Soho, but still relatively well controlled with a steady flow of service and a constant buzz that made it feel like a place always in motion. The Highlights Food came out quickly and leaned into that comfort style Chinese menu with a mix of dumplings and larger plates, and the soup dumplings were the clear favorite for the table with both kids fully on board which is always a win. The crispy duck with pancakes was also solid and more in line with what we expected, and overall the variety kept everyone engaged even if the kids stayed mostly in their comfort zone. The Challenges Portion sizes were a bit tricky for a family of four with several dishes coming in sets of three which meant ordering extra just to share evenly, and a few items missed the mark including shu mai that felt a bit dry. The duck and rice being served closer to room temperature was intentional to keep it tender but still felt a little off from expectation, and surprisingly there were no chili oil or similar condiments for the dumplings which would have helped quite a bit. The overall noise and energy level can also be a lot after a full day out. Final Thoughts This is a lively spot that fits right into the Soho and Chinatown energy and works well if you are looking for a fun fast paced meal with shareable dishes, but it is not without a few quirks and inconsistencies. We are glad we tried it and there are definitely things worth ordering, but with so many strong options nearby we would probably explore elsewhere next time, making it worth it for the experience but not a must return.

Sharing hot pots are divided into four quadrants - we got half and half mala spice and the mild but super savory mushroom broth. Very different but both excellent! Individual dishes are ordered via iPad. We got a large selection of meats, veggies, noodles, and some more unusual delicacies like beef cheek and colon(?). There are self serve stations for sauce making, and some small sides and desserts/fruits. I LOVED the seaweed salad there and got three helpings... not sure what goes into this but it was so yummy. Tissue boxes at the table are a nice touch for runny noses with the spicy broth! There's a bit of a show that comes with ordered hand pulled noodles! A staffer comes out and pulls and spins and dances with the noodles table side. I think they also sing for birthdays (seemed to be a couple of those around us). For tourists, this is located in a nice area for a bit of a site walking tour before or after dinner! (To either work up an appetite or walk off a bit meal.) This visit was no different. I came here with a friend during Chinese New Year week, and everything we ordered was extremely good. (Yes, I meant to say that twice!) The only thing worth noting is that the prices have definitely gone up since my last visit--especially for the hot pot base. Still, the quality and experience were top-notch, and I'd absolutely come back again!
