This is easily one of my most favorite courses to play in the Denver Metro area. It's a ways out there for some, but well worth the effort to play this track. It's just awesome. And be prepared for a challenging track! The driving range and practice area are all really nice. It's certainly well above average for most practice areas. I just wish they had balls on demand and not the ball machine nonsense. This course is way too nice to have a ball machine. Couple of warnings. There will be fighter jets and huge airplanes flying over the course almost every day. There's a military base close and I think seeing the jets is pretty cool. But may rattle you a bit of your trying to sink your eagle putt. Next warning is bring a lot of balls. The native grass is completely unforgiving and you will lose balls at this course if you miss your targets. I love the views and how this course sets up. The tee boxes are well kept and the greens are blazing fast all year long. The staff is really friendly and you will agree once you get out here to play a round. It's a big walk to undertake, but certainly walkable if you're prepared for a hike. I try to play early to beat the crowds and try to avoid the afternoon wind. And I try to play often because this Course is just so much fun for a hard challenging test. There's no doubt you're going to love it here too and whatever your skill level-- you will be challenged as well as thrilled with the views. read more

The good: I normally really like this course. It's close to home, they have good practice facilities, the course staff is normally really cool, its a challenging track. The story: On July 4th we teed of at 6:20am for our round. The starter was awesome and helped set the mood for a great morning of golf! $92 each for the round but its a holiday weekend and typically, a nicer Aurora course. All good! The course is in rough shape! It has been in the 90s and we haven't had any rain, I get it, it costs money to run a course. Now the bad: The marshall was waiting off the left side of #3 fairway, hands on hips waiting to tell us we were slow. Our carts tell us this, but thanks! The group ahead was moving fast and we did have a slow start (it happens). The GPS said we were 4 minutes behind and there was no one waiting on us, which the marshall acknowledged that no one was waiting on us. No "Hey, good morning!" Or "hey, I know its early and we're all just getting going, but try your best to keep pace today so everyone has a good round" or anything. Just a rude course marshall that unnecessarily needs to nagg golfers. He followed us for the next 2 holes, which really annoyed all 4 of us. It wasn't a great experience after spending $194 for me and my wife to play a round of golf with friends and get nagged straight away. No beverage cart on the 4th of July until after 10am...? We were on hole #15 before we saw the beverage cart. Oh and by the way, 10 minutes ahead of pace at that the turn, AND finished the round in 4 hours and 33 minutes. Seems like we kept pace fine after we got going. If you want us playing speed golf speed your GPS carts up from 7-10 MPH to 12-15 MPH and it may help your grouchy Saturday morning marshall's rude attitude. We'll play elsewhere for a while. These kind of employees should remind themselves we are paying a lot of money to golf on these courses and we all hit bad shots now and again. If there's no golfers there's no need for marshalls. No one wants to shank shots, so CHILL OUT! Cart guys were super cool as usual. Shout out to the cart guys, pro shop, and starter. read more

Any course where the front 9 doesn't take you back to the clubhouse/restaurant is an immediate 3. This one takes it a step further by making the clubhouse REALLY out of the way which slows play WAY DOWN on the back 9. They realize this as they have a port-a-potty behind a fence near the 10th hole. Not sure the last time it was cleaned out but when I was there, it was in desperate need of flush and perhaps an air freshener! read more

This course used to be one of my favorites (even though it's a bit of a trek we would always try and play). After the 3rd hole the ranger was on us saying we were 2 holes behind. In reality, the only course ranger had no clue that there was a two-hole gap in tee times before we teed off. Mediocre conditions, mediocre course now-a-days. I would probably give it 2-3 stars if it weren't for the poor customer service and lack of course knowledge from and rangers and their lack of communication from one ranger to the other. Spoke to the head pro after the round to let him know how Disappointed we were and he had no response. We will not be back. read more

Murphy Creek Golf Course is GORGEOUS! I stopped in this past weekend to snag some practice time at the driving range while the BF was in Colorado Springs playing a course with th guys. Here's the highlights: ++ The greens are well maintained! Heck, everything is well maintained! ++ There's tons of signage pointing you in the direction you need to go. ++ Incredibly friendly staff! ++ Well stocked pro-shop. ++ A mere $9 for a bucket of balls. Yay! ++ An awesome chipping green that has some great practice features for all skill levels. July 14, 2024 and this course is in terrible condition. Weeds have overgrown the un maintained sand traps, dry spots all over the course and muddy puddles on some holes. $93bucks is very over priced for a course that is maintained by beginners. This used to be our go to course because it was one of the best courses in town. Now I May never play it again. read more

Nice course. But no marshal to speed things up and it took us 5+ hours to play one round of golf on a late Sunday afternoon. We were behind a group of kids playing in a youth tournament and instead of telling the kids to speed up, whoever was volunteering for the grounament instead gave us the excuse of "haha some little girls came onto the green and stole their ball.... The actual course is awesome. Long and difficult. The greens are great. The actual service and management is awful. Played a 5 plus hour round and didn't finish. Drunk people came onto the course and assaulted 2 of our players in the 17th tee box. I understand this is Aurora, but wtf? Seriously a trashy golf course. read more

I've been golfing at Murphy for years. I think tonight was the last time I ever visit this course again. Had a 4:30pm tee time with my 8 year old and was told in needed to have my tee time pushed because he was with me. Ended up teeing off at 5:10pm. It started raining after 5 holes and they would not give me a rain check. We would have finished if we could have teed off at 4:30pm like we were supposed to. The customer service use to be great. The Marshall Steve is very rude, we are playing on pace and waiting for the people in front of us. The people behind us called the Marshall and said we are playing slow. The Marshall told us to "shut the fuck up, I don't want to hear a word from you" and you are 40 minutes behind. We were not behind, and playing as fast as we could with the pace of the course. Don't waste your time at this place. Apparently if you don't hit a 72 or lower and aren't hitting into the next group you get yelled at. read more

We showed up on time late in the afternoon and didn't have time to hit balls. They aerated about a week before but the course is in great shape. 4 some played 18 holes in just over 4 hours. Didn't see any rattle snakes but lots of signs. We did see a fox around dusk this is a links course so if the trees are in the way, you're out of bounds. Several par 3s are around 200 yds from the white tees. great beer selection. Lots of dirt and construction just outside the course but nice Mountain View's. Several jets and helicopters flying over from Buckley. I like this course and I'll be back. Great value read more

This course is literally out in the middle of nowhere, although there is a budding housing development around part of the course. The pro shop, starter, restaurant and other workers are friendly, knowledgeabl e and helpful which is a plus to how I view a golf course. Green fees are moderate and less if you are a resident of Aurora, CO. My advice would be that if you are going to play this course, pay the extra little bit and take a cart. I did not do that and here is what I found. Walking, the course is a bit over 7 miles. In part this is due to a vast amount of space between greens and the next tee box. I was the lone walker playing with three riders and I spent the entire day trying to keep up (no way to play good golf). At times I thought I was playing polo not golf as I would scurry up, hit a shot an then scurry to keep up. The cart paths are mostly unpaved and if you walk directly from the tee to the fairway you are walking through heavy grass that is well above your ankles. So, first suggestion...ride. Next, play with someone who knows the course. On 75% of the holes you cannot tell where to hit you tee shot because of the layout. You could probably get around this by buying a course book ($6.00) but still it is hard to tell where the fairway is, how wide it is, how far the bunkers are away, etc. So, second suggestion....course knowledge is a good thing or shell out $6.00. The course itself is moderately challangeing, Fairways in prettty good condition, greens also good. I do not believe there is one tree on the course so bring your sunscreen. Scenery is almost non existant except for housing development on part of the course. The sky does have it's share of entertainment as the couse seems to be on the flilght path of an military air base. Loud, fast jet fighters are continually zooming overhead one after the other (just kids having fun with their multi million dollar machines). Some the the take offs were quite spactular, hit the afterburner and go almost straight up. Fun to watch but the noise is annoying as I do not think this is "the sound of freedom", it is just noise. Clubhouse is quite nice and restaurant is above average. Overall, a nice place that I will return to . read more

What a beautiful course situated in a serene area. It provides an escape from the city while also offering a well kept course to keep your game fresh. I took a few lessons from Leslie, head pro, and she was very patient and knowledgeable on how to teach a newbie. I've been here many times to watch my husband from the sidelines, but am excited to get out on the course more myself! read more

Great course with challenging shots, makes you plan ahead and think about the shot you take. Greens were extremely fast, very tough to read with multiple breaks within one putt. Nonexistent trees can lead to windy play as it did for us on the last 3 holes, the wind caused our shots to go anywhere the wind took them. Great value for the money on a quality course in aurora. Other courses around here might be a little cheaper but they don't offer the challenges that Murphy Creek does read more

What an absolute disaster. We showed up for our 10:40 at tee time at 10:25 that we booked a week ago. We're told the tee time was already paid for and we were good to go. Go to the starter only to be told we have no tee time in the system. After calling the pro shop back we are then told we have nothing in the system. We call back again to ask for a call if there are any cancellations. On this call we are told we missed our 10:20 tee time. We go back to the starter to be told that our tee time is actually 11:20. So cool, good to go. But no, wait, it actually was at 10:20 according to the starter now, even though it couldn't be found the first time. So how TF do we not have a tee time, but do, but we missed it, but do and it's coming up, but actually don't? Cool. Thanks Murphy Creek. Will gladly go play anywhere else. Your starter is an unhelpful prick and your clubhouse is inept. Thanks again. read more

Always a great experience. Breakfast burritos can't be beat. Never too crowded. Never a wait.

Open for breakfast but don't expect anything quick or hot. Lots of menu choices but service is very slow and it can take 30 minutes for your order to come out of the kitchen , even if you are the only table. If you order coffee, it's hard to get a refill. This is the most fun I have ever had on a golf course in Colorado. I had a very late tee time and signed up for 18 holes, but the guys at the pro shot changed it for me in seconds. My online reservation did not show up on the computer and the young guy working in the pro shop added me and was super nice. Great prices and the course is extremely well kept and challenging. On several holes wildlife was right next to me. I cannot say enough good things about the practice facility, prarie style well kept course and staff. I played this course on July 8. Booked a tee time as a single and I was happy to be teamed up with 3 great guys, one of whom played at this course regularly. I found the course to be well taken care of with greens that rolled consistently. The course had lots of trouble off the fairways, however, I found the fairways to be fairly wide with landing zones that I could shoot for to stay out of trouble. It took about 4-1/2 hours to play the round, they had a beverage cart and the folks who worked at the course were cheerful and friendly. read more

As much as I would have loved to play here, they wouldn't let me due to their antiquated rules. I wanted to play a round of golf with my wife. We only have one set of clubs because my wife doesn't play that much and always rents if she needs to. They said my wife and I couldn't share my clubs and she had to have her own. They also said they don't rent clubs to people. So, as a result they refused to give me a tee time. Wish I could have played and given them a good review, but they refused, so 1 star. read more

Well I played here about a month or so ago, course is good, practice facility's amazing, I just don't know how I feel about the employees. The kids who clean the carts and do all that get absolutely no respect, even the marshals. I go in pro shop to check in for tee time and a young polite man was asking questions about the driving range. Pro shop starts making all kinds of jokes and assumptions about him cause he didn't know exactly what to do. I played Murphy Creek for the first time last Friday and I was very happy with the course. This course is in spectacular shape, as good as many of the private courses in the area. Murphy Creek is irrigated entirely with reclaimed water, so it's nice to know that all the green is actually "Green". Because their water is recycled, they are free from water restrictions that other local courses have to endure, thus ensuring that the course is well watered and in great shape. I was especially impressed with the fairways and the well manicured short rough. Because it's a "links style" course, you pay for it when you get in the tall grass, but this is also what makes the course beautiful and challenging. Lots of approachable greens that are challenging, but not crazy (like South Suburban). The staff in the pro shop and the restaurant were very nice and cheerful people (extra thumbs up). Prices are inexpensive for what you're getting, and I would agree with the other reviews that you should pay for the cart. Having a good range finder / skycaddy will save you some strokes as you are often shooting a blind shot on your approach. The only reason that I am not giving Murphy Creek 5 stars is that the greens were just punched before we played (don't see that too often in the middle of August) and no one let us know. I personally feel that you should get a discounted rate when the greens have been freshly punched, and since we were playing for cash it does matter. Overall I was very happy to have played this course and I feel it's one of the nicest public courses in the Denver area. I would happily play here again and plan to soon. read more

Murphy Creek has become one of my favorite courses to play. First, the driving range is one of the best I've been to with reasonably priced balls. The chipping and putting areas are large and in great shape. The course itself is challenging and very attractive--just watch out for the snakes in the rough! I think higher handicappers will find this course troublesome, since most likely they will lose a lot of balls in the fescue or water. The staff have been nothing but friendly and informative. They have a great breakfast burrito for $6.50. The beer cart comes around 3-5 times in a round. The clubhouse is nice and has some outdoor seating. I've been able to finish play in 4-5 hours depending on groups ahead of me. If you are looking for a well kept, affordable links course to try in the Denver area, this along with Riverdale Dunes and Buffalo Run are great options. read more

Sunny 78 degree day and our golf cart died! Called the clubhouse on 16th green and no one came to get us a new cart. Walked in left the cart and pro shop is closed!! Poor service! Gave bar manager our name, phone number will await a response from pro shop manager as this is unbelievable! Pay for a cart to work the whole round which BTW we finished 4:35 so cart should have stayed charged. The manager promptly called back on Monday and apologized. Thank you! read more

Murphy Creek is a long challenging course from tips. I play here often and love the practice facility. The greens are soft which helps on such a long course. Been playing Murphy for 3 years now and every year it gets better and better. It is a true links course with the lack of trees, which allows for the wind to come into play. It is a difficult course to walk but riding is great. I love that it is not always a Driver of ever tee box. This course makes you think. read more

Great course with better practice facilities. Nothing special on the driving range, but they have a small little chipping range that is separate from everything else. Great little area to practice. The putting green is large with lots of undulation and flat spots where needed. This course is unique to the area, not many trees but lots of tall grass. Very enjoyable, especially for a public course. Hole 9 is a drivable par 4 over a huge ditch. Very fun. The only hole/shot that I'm not a fan of is the 3rd hole, par 5. The first shot is pretty straight forward, don't go in the bunker and hit it straight. However, the second shot is blind going up and over a hill. TIP: there are bunkers short. If your even close to being able to reach it, just rip it and grip it. Even if you lay up and play it safe, you might hit a blind bunker. read more
