They moved me just a couple of miles. I purchased additional insurance. So many things were damaged in the move. I had pictures and the movers knew of the damage-they pointed it out to me. I talked to the owner, filed a claim, and she refused to pay. Even with the extra insurance I purchased! I had evidence and the movers knew. Do not use this service. I sure wish I was for-warned. I decided to go with a local company to help me move apartments, and I received the personal experience I expected. Jeannie was great with setting up the move and helping me out as much as possible before and after the move. The only complaint I had was that 1 out of the 3 movers didn't do much, and I probably could have paid for 2 movers and they would have gotten the work done in the same amount of time. So Murphy Movers was reliable and showed up the next morning when I called to ask if they could help me. - for that I'd give them a 5 But here is why I rated them a 2, I paid for two movers, but only one of them Damingo was doing all the work, the other guy, would help lift here and there but mostly who was either on the truck or just supervising it seemed like. Also after speaking with Damingo and realizing how little he got paid min. wage, they just don't seem to have high ethics. This was my second time using this company and it once again exceeded my expectations. I moved on thee hottest days of the summer to a third floor apartment with no elevator. Jason, Shawn, and Marty were so gracious and got the job quickly and efficiently. I was shocked how fast they got it done, considering how hot it was. I'll start by saying that Jeannie is unethical, unprofessional, and just rude. Her team recommended that I buy insurance in case something is damaged, so I did. They then proceeded to drop and damage my very expensive armoire, and now Jeannie is ignoring my requests to fix it with the insurance that her company sold me! Unbelievable. This is in addition to the passive aggressive and rude phone call Jeannie made to me after the job, because she was angry that I paid with a check. I would have gladly gone to an ATM and gotten cash, but I paid with a check and the crew didn't say anything about it, so I left when the job was done. The crew was cordial, but they were not in proper physical condition to move heavy furniture, and Jeannie is awful. I would never do business with her again after I settle this insurance scam that she imposed on me. read more

I had a great experience with Murphy! I called around 5pm on a Saturday afternoon after realizing that my belongings would take all night for me to move with my car. Jeannie was extremely helpful and friendly on the phone and said she could get a two man crew out the following morning. On Sunday morning, I received a call from Jeannie saying that there was going to be an additional crew member, which slightly changed the price, however, would increase the efficiency. The three men arrived and were very polite and hard working. They started moving my belongings very efficiently (even considering my apartment has a flight of stairs) and were able to load up the truck, drive to the storage unit, and load the storage unit in just over an hour. They even helped take my bed apart so that it would store easier. Overall, I am very happy with their service! Thank you! read more

I have moved all over Iowa, Tulsa and Omaha and Murphy Moving has been one of the best moving companies! I have used them 3 times and every time they have been professional, timely and speedy! They recently really helped me out getting a large sectional down a really small tricky turning basement stairway. My husband and I recently used this company for a local move May 22nd. Three gentlemen showed up on time for the move so that was good. We had everything packed and ready for them to load. 2 of the gentleman worked very hard while the other seemed a little off to me. I left for about 20 minutes load some things of own while they continued loading. When I returned to find two of the guys working hard and the guy who seemed off to me had been drinking our beer. Yes at 9:30am in the morning he helped himself to 4 of our beers which by the way were packed already. I confronted him and he looked like a deer in headlights but didn't deny it. Not only was he drinking at 9:30am on the job but he was also the one driving the truck. And I probably would have offered them a beer after there hard works but this guy chose to steal from me. Not to mention we were told the move would only take 2 hours instead it took 7, maybe because the one mover was drunk. Very unfortunate for the other two who worked so hard. read more

After inquiring about a moving quote online for various companies, I was called by Murphy Moving almost right away. However, the quoted "estimate" I was given over the phone ended up being no where near the actual cost of the move. I've never used a mover before, so ultimately had no idea what I was getting myself into. What I was told would be a $250 job over the phone ended up being over double that amount, plus I was told it was only $92/hr for two men but was charged $96/hr AND I was overcharged by the movers. I called the company requesting reimbursement for that overcharge, talked to them about it twice and was told a check would be mailed to me, but I have received nothing and this was over 3 weeks ago. Additionally, heavy boxes that were clearly labeled were not put where I asked them to be put. That's a nitpicky thing, but it was still frustrating to deal with because it just seems lazy to do that. It caused boxes to be mixed up and take longer for me to find things I needed right away. The overall experience was okay, but far from great and the lack of reimbursement for being overcharged has made me never want to use this company again. Let this be a lesson learned. read more

Worst move I've ever had in my life! The men working wasn't the problem it was the manager who came down to the site of the move to collect more money mid move! She said they we where going to go over time and need the money right now! I told her this is not how moving companies handle this. They send an invoice when you go over time and pay the difference once the job is completely. She then rudely argued with me. Once the men started to unload after we gave her the extra money she then proceeded to tell the men that if my belongs are not off the truck by 3:30pm or moved into my apartment like I paid for to leave my belongings in the street. I would never recommend this company to anyone and that woman should be fired and if she owns the company like she claims to she should no longer be in business for the actions she made that day! Will never use this company again. I should have listened to my gut from the get-go but I let one concern go and then another only for it to end poorly. I will admit I called the day before the move to request it be pushed back an hour or two as my new place wasn't ready. Jeannie accidentally texted me instead of her movers and asked if they could move it back and also reduce 'down to 2 movers instead of 3 so they could get more hours in'. But when I booked, I was told I needed 3 movers and this would save me money. So now they were trying to milk more time and money from me. I let it go and decided to proceed with the move. Then they arrived at 11:00 and the sheet says starting time of 10:20, I know it said they charge from when leave shop but but it's a 16 minute drive from their shop to my house. I decided to let it go and proceed with the move. Then they finally finished at point A and we left the house. They showed up 25 minutes later when point B was only 6 minutes away. I called Jeannie and she said they were 5 minutes away and that time wouldn't count. It did count, they tried to charge me for it until I said something and he removed it. They finished the move and I paid $575 for a 2.5 hour move. Also, needed to pay 'first $400 in cash' which I was not told when I booked and so I had to go to the bank. Then doing my last walk-thru at point A and noticed they left behind a TV and 2 closets full. I decided to let it go despite all the issues I had. Then we started to actually unpack and put things together and noticed they put together our bed backwards and broke a desk. I decided to let Jeannie know and at 10:28AM she said she'd look into it and get back to me. It's 6:40PM and I'm still waiting.
