I have been completely satisfied with tax services provided by Murphy, Murphy & Murphy (MMM) over the past two decades. I've had three CPAs in my lifetime, each one having an increasing amount of complexity in my tax preparations. MMM's staffing levels, varied areas of specialization, and individualized attention to details make them, in my experience, the "Neiman Marcus" (I would say "Nordstrom," but Nordy isn't what Nordstrom used to be) of CPAs and other financial services. The team members at MMM with which I have worked over the years have all had integrity and provided great customer service. Each has expressed how much they enjoy the MMM work culture and each has related how much their professional vocation is a passion, though very, shall we way, taxing at times. I like to know that the specialists helping me in my life are working hard and then playing hard. I want these people to be healthy, happy and to also be fiercely competent in their area of specialization. This is what I have in MMM. This is the reason I now go to MMM for retirement planning in addition to tax consulting and preparation. I wish more businesses were like this. read more

I have a small business and used MMM for several years. I worked directly with Richard who roped in others as needed and I felt well taken care of. I even had a few outstanding problems from past years that he helped me catch up with, forms that other consultants "forgot" to file etc. It was very frustrating, I paid a lot of money for tax services and they didn't seem to do it right in the past so I was very happy with MMM. Unfortunately, I have received a letter from the IRS that I owe a total of $11k for 2022, a year that MMM did my taxes for me, that includes the fines and interest. I have contacted MMM multiple times via telephone and email and they are not interested in helping me with this at all. I have cancer and don't have the money. So they are great when everything is great but when you're in trouble, don't expect them to step up for you. They don't even get back to you. After all, they already got paid, right? read more

In 2022 I got married and Cesar missed the fact that my husband (active military) can claim FL residence and therefore I did not have to pay any CA taxes. So I lost out on $5,200 and was charged $500 for this service by Murphy. I would have been better off using HR block. The following year Enrico caught the (obvious) fact that I didn't need to pay CA taxes however somehow missed the fact that 2022 had made this huge error & did nothing to fix my 2022 taxes. It wasn't until my new tax guy (not at Murphy) mentioned that you could go back to prior years and make an amendment that I realized I could still get that 2022 money back. So I then brought this to Enrico's attention and he has recently fixed the mistake. But the fact that I had to figure it all out myself feels like negligence to me. I paid $1,000 over the course of 2 years to make these massive mistakes costing a military family. What did I pay them for when I had to figure it all out myself? I asked them to refund one of the fees they charged me or do SOMETHING and got absolutely no response so that's why I'm posting this review. I feel taken advantage of and ripped off. read more

We have utilized MMM for a number of years. Pat Murphy and Nicole (and "their" team) have been very supportive. They are not the cheapest, but they are incredibly thorough. I have used them for Trust work, tax preparation, future retirement projections and one audit. I would use no one else, my friends that I have referred to them have all been very satisfied. Looking at another review, I will agree that they "can" take some time to get back to you...but they have a lot of clients, so I choose to overlook that legitimate concern. I Would not recommend this firm to represent you if your tax situation consists of past due returns that need to be filed and you plan on submitting an offer in comprise with the IRS. Took months to finally receive a basic offer in compromise engagement letter that highlighted fees and what is expected of the client.I was passed off to numerous associates which entailed long delays for basic questions and ultimately wrong information. This bad information ended up screwing me and delaying my issues months longer..could go on and on but won't. The just of it is, I felt like a small fish in a big pond. terrible communication and total loss of confidence. My thoughts were affirmed when I went with another company and got all my questions and concerns accurately answered promptly. My offer in compromise package was submitted to the irs within a week...I actually received an engagement letter in less than 24 hours after my initial contact & explaining my situation. I won't mention any names, and maybe it's different if ur a bigger player and not passed off to Jr associates. If you just need to file basic returns your probably fine? However, if your a small player and you need to resolve your past tax blunders I would not recommend this firm. read more

all bad . i am very patient but i've worked with jason conn who rarely could be reached by phone or email . he no longer was employed there and i was not told until months later . they set me up with richard miramontes. i met and spoke to him and pat murphy who asussured me things will be different. they'd handle my business needs in a professional manner . still the same . never returned calls or emails even when i included pat murphy in the emails no response. all while i allowed them to auto debit my corporation monthly for there services ( that they wouldn't do in a timely manner ) for the past 50 plus days no response to me emails or phone calls . finally i just stopped the auto pay and thought i hear from them .... nothing ? i will be playing catch up on my corporate bookkeeping and tax mess . maybe you've had a better experience with them . but as for me and my corporation i regret trying to do business with this firm and feel they owe me the work i paid for ! read more
