Murphy's was packed even right before closing time on a Friday night. The wait time was very short and the workers were great at handling the big crowd. I ordered a regular scoop of mint chocolate chip in a cup. To be honest, it wasn't the greatest mint chocolate chip i've had. I think I would've enjoyed this parlour more if I had tried a different flavour. My friend had the toffee and said it was good. Especially at night in front of the parlour with all of the pretty lights up. My main issue is this place being a cash only place. This is 2018, and we're moving into a cash-less era. I'm also not sure if there was air conditioning inside the day I went, it was quite hot and humid in there. However as far as the ice cream goes, it's very rich and creamy. It's excellent! Decent ice cream, horrible service! We got there at 9:45pm on Saturday (closing time says 11pm on their door). The staff was rude and rushed us. Cash-only, local and authentic business that every single person living in Streetsville has been to at least once. Realistically, this place may be a 4 for a lot of people, but it's a childhood staple for me as I've been going here since I was around 6 or 7 back when the old cenotaph was there and I've been here every summer since. The man who runs it is almost always working and he knows exactly how to strike up a conversation - he is the typical small-town business owner in a relatively big town, and he still manages to make you feel special (literally he always knows who my family and I are when we walk in - so nice!) and though the ice cream isn't necessarily cheap, they definitely give you a huge scoop - I always get a single scoop, and it's so filling that I borderline consider it a meal! Either way, every person in Streetsville - or anywhere, really - should come here at least once, even if it's just for the novelty! I went there with my son today not realizing that this establishment is cash only, and I only had 7 dollars on me(or so I mistakenly thought) My son had asked me if he could have two scoops before we got there and I said yes. When I realized the place was cash only I asked my son to only have one scoop so I could still get a scoop of frozen yogurt for myself. My son (who is five) started to get upset with me, but the owner very kindly told us that he would take care of the situation. He made one big scoop look like two to make my son happy, and this truck happily worked... Then came time to pay. To my horror, when I dumped out my change purse I realized I only had about $5.50. And the order came to $7.75. I had mistaken a quarter for a toonie when I first looked inside. This could easily have turned into an awkward and embarrassing situation for me especially because there were other patrons present, and the owner had already blended my frozen yogurt serving with fruit. But he didn't hesitate for a second to reassure me that it was fine and I could repay him the next time I go there. I was so touched at his kindness I could have cried! I will definitely be returning regardless because my son and I love getting a treat at Murphy's whenever we are in Streetsville, but this incident meant allot to me and I will be sure to go back ASAP!!! read more

I was very disappointed to see the hard ice cream offered here, which was Mayfair. It's a brand I'm not a fan of and which would definitely not draw me back here. I had a soft serve swirl instead. It was pretty good but quite small for the price. If I'm really craving a soft serve I'll come back, but I am usually a milkshake girl and though you can get the hard ice cream as a milkshake, the only options of soft serve milkshakes they have are vanilla and chocolate which was really disappointing too. It is still cash only which is really inconvenient, and it is quite expensive. 2 regular cones are nearly $10. You can get 2 tubs of Ben and Jerry's ice cream on sale for $10 and it is better ice cream, you can pay debit/credit, and not have to wait in line. Even Baskin Robbins has better ice cream quality.
