I've been a loyal patient at ReFocus Eye Health since their original location, and I'm thrilled…read morewith the move to their new Grant Avenue space. All the staff members here are genuinely kind and attentive, which sets the tone for a positive experience from the moment you walk in. PARKING The parking situation at this new location is a massive upgrade from their previous spot--it was nearly impossible to find a space back then. Now, there are consistently open parking spots available, which makes visits so much easier. The one caveat is that the entrance requires making a U-turn onto Grant Avenue, which can be tricky given how busy that street is. It's a minor inconvenience, but the abundance of parking more than makes up for it. OFFICE/ATMOSPHERE The waiting rooms throughout the building are quite small, which becomes apparent at times. I've visited in January, November, and April, and the office frequently ran out of chairs. The wait times themselves are reasonable, but the limited seating can make waits feel a bit uncomfortable. This is definitely something they could improve on. DOCTOR INFO I've been seeing Dr. Bano for about 3-4 years now, and she's exceptional. My sister actually introduced me to her, and we're both big fans. What really sets Dr. Bano apart is her genuine commitment to finding what works best for you. She was the first doctor to properly fit me for contacts after years of visits to other offices where I was just told to stick with my old prescription. When my contacts started feeling uncomfortable in the last year. Dr. Bano took the time to refit me properly. It wasn't just about grabbing the first option; she worked through the process with me, even when my initial reaction to her first choice wasn't positive. She respected that as the patient, I know what feels right in my own eyes, and she was willing to adjust until we got it right. That level of care and attentiveness is rare, and it's why I keep coming back. BUYING EYEGLASSES HERE While shopping around at ReFocus, I had an excellent experience with their eyeglasses specialist. He has a real talent for styling and great communication skills. When I tried on frames he recommended, styles I never would have chosen myself, I felt an immediate boost in confidence. His eye for what works is genuinely impressive. However, I cannot recommend purchasing glasses here. The pricing is significantly marked up beyond industry standards. The Sophia Loren M317 frames cost $90 from the manufacturer, but ReFocus was charging $219 just for the frames. A whopping $550 for the frames and lenses combined. I found the exact same frames online for $183 total. $90 for the frames and another $90 that covered the prescription, thinner lenses, and the company's profit. They even came with a gorgeous collapsible leather case and all the eyeglasses accessories you could imagine. I also purchased a similar pair from another online retailer for just $40 with every upgrade imaginable: blue light filtering, impact resistance, thinner lenses, & fashion tint. For context on the pricing: The industry standard is a 40-60% profit margin. ReFocus is operating at 201% profit (I did the math), which is absolutely excessive. As someone without health insurance coverage for glasses, this is genuinely a rip-off. My advice: visit ReFocus to see how frames look on you in person and get the names of styles you love. Use that information to shop online, where you'll find dramatically better prices. CONCLUSION ReFocus Eye Health deserves credit for their caring staff and Dr. Bano's exceptional patient-centered approach to eye care. The new location offers superior parking, and the office atmosphere is pleasant despite the seating limitations. If you're looking for quality eye exams and expert medical care, this is a great choice. Just be sure to handle your eyeglasses purchases elsewhere, the frames and lenses are simply priced too high here to justify buying them. You shouldn't have to go broke for eye health or a good pair of glasses!

I have been seen at Grant location. I have been treated by Dr Sole senior since I was a child and…read morenow see Jr. Sadly since becoming Refocus I have been disappointed for the last three years for some reason or another my exams have been incomplete and require a second visit. Weather it be not enough time or the machine being broken. I have been asked to return for a second appointment that requires another copay and insurance bill, I feel like I'm being price gouged. To make matters worse they now charge a retraction fee of $60 on top of a $60 copay. The test I needed wasn't done... Now for my experience, I woke up with a sty after my last visit. The tech, chewing gum like a cow while doing my test, ran a tissue over the mach that barely touched it. I didn't see it disinfected but there was an assistant that cleaned the prior machine so I assumed that one was done. The bump on my chin says different. She also touched my eye with no gloves on right where the sty showed up. Unprofessional in an understatement for my time with her. I called multiple times to speak to the office manage, no respons. I called again tellIng reception who transferred to head tech. They asked me to come in to check my eye at least. When I arrived the next day they tried to charge me again. For a problem they created. I walked out, never again!

This office didn't bother billing the insurance company , charged some ridiculous amount . They…read moreover talk you when trying to straighten out a bill. The billing person Tasha, thinks she sounds professional but literally is just being a smart ass and barely allowing you to make your point , just cuts you off mid sentence. I had to ask several times to let me finish. I'm not sure how you make sensible response without listening to the customers point. Planned parenthood is no cost, low cost or sliding scale, there's no reason to charge over 100.00 for a single visit to a full time college student with zero income. As consumers we are fully aware that there's a fee for being seen but planned parenthood has definitely gotten away from the point of helping Low income persons just trying to stay healthy. I am extremely disappointed in the way planned parenthood castor avenue treated my family member and will make sure she will not need their services again. This office should be looked into by regional managers as to the business they are running. Lastly, when you ask to speak with a manager, that's who your call should be directed to. There's a reason they are mangers and others are not. The lack of professionalism is quite disturbing.

I made an appointment online through the PPD app and found some locations for me. My wait time(including being a first-time patient and filling out a couple forms) was 15 minutes. Had my insurance card and ID ready, all easy. The women working were so nice, quality-level chitchat, and straight-forward. The Gynecologist who did my woman exam was awfully nice, very educated, energetic, no beating around the bush, there. Haha. The parking situation isn't all that bad, yes there's only about eight or nine spots, but tons of street parking in the neighborhood. I feel like you just got to go during work hours(take the day off, maybe) if you don't want to hassle with parking and choose a time that's not close to rush hour traffic. I am definitely not one for going into a place with hostile, grumpy, back-talking business. I work from home, I don't go out as much as I used to, but just the human interaction between like-minded, respectful folks in a store, a business, an office, is essential to me and I hope people can be considerate and realize we're all just trying to get by, with good health and a good mind. Things are 'heavy' in this country, take care of yourselves, keep a straight head.

Arrived @ 10.40 and was told there are only two doctors and would be a 90 minute wait. Did not have to stay, could return, and would be called if it would be sooner. Came back in 90 minutes and waited another 1/2 hour to be seen. I was seen by Dr. Baron. My blood pressure was up to 160/100, and, she was concerned, because it was high also at my last doctor visit. Diagnosis was sinusitis, but I only had two of the symptoms She prescribed Flonase and an antibiotic. She knew about my anxiety and high blood pressure issues. I asked her if Flonase had any side effects that would aggravate these problems, and was reassured it wouldn't. Sitting here today with terrible anxiety that my meds can barely control. Initially I was not going to get the Flonase script filled, but had such severe headaches and congestion I was desperate.I cannot tolerate otc decongestants. Did not know much about corticosteroids, but anxiety was NOT listed as a common side effect. Wasn't until this morning when I googled it and voila! I'm screwed. I know doctors can make mistakes, but she should have known this. Lesson here; doctors do not know everything. Sometimes you need to go with your gut reaction, you know your body best. You need to do your own research before you take any meds. The place itself was not bad. The front desk girl & other employees were pleasant and helpful. Should have more doctors during peak cold/ flu season. Dr Baron however should have known better.
