They confirmed that he was taking new patients. They said they'd email me the paperwork. I spelled my email address v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. Next day, I phoned his office again. I said I hadn't gotten an email, maybe because they hadn't spelled my email address correctly. I spelled it again v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. So I went to the office. I asked to fill out the paperwork then and there, and they gave it to me. When I turned it in, they said someone would review it and call me to make an appointment. Did they? You guessed it. No call. So why would a doctor claim to be taking new patients when he really isn't? Is it some quirky insurance thing? I just don't get it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ P.S. The day after I left this review, his office called me to schedule an appointment. Needless to say, I declined. So I guess he is taking new patients (at least when prompted by a Yelp review). But then why the runaround???

As others here have noted, one never feels that he's in a rush to wrap up his time with you and move on. He takes time to engage in a conversation with you, to listen to your concerns and questions, and to address them thoroughly. For me, good communication is the most important quality I look for in a primary care doctor, aside from a basic confidence in his/her competence. Dr. Killian has helped me better understand my various medical issues and articulates his treatment goals and methodologies in an exceptionally thorough and understandable manner. I have a fantastic cardiologist who is also an excellent communicator, but I have often found myself with Dr. Killian explaining and helping me understand my heart issues more completely than I would listening to my cardiologist alone. He is thorough in integrating test results and other information from the cardiologist (and other specialists) into my patient records to maintain a complete understanding of all my ongoing medical issues. I could scarcely ask for more than that. His group practice, Red River Family Practice, is well-run, and I have encountered very few of the office/administrative frustrations I have at similar group practice offices. Reading some other less-than-positive reviews here, I'm reminded that no single physician is likely to be the right fit for every patient, each with their unique concerns and expectations. That said, Dr. Killian is a perfect fit for my priorities and expectations, and his competence and professionalism provide a rock-solid foundation to support those preferences. One Medical is so amazing. Yes, you pay a membership fee, but then, YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE A DOCTOR. Like, the day you need to. Or, you do a video chat, or send your doctor a message that they actually respond to in a timely manner. The app is also super helpful and efficienct. They have this great feature that you can get immediate help for certain things like colds, yeast infections, or ordering a lab test. You fill out the information in the app, and someone gets back to you right away, putting in the lab visit or sending the rx to your pharmacy. I really don't think I have ever had medical access that is responsive and available when I need it. Their lab is open for drop ins throughout the day, and I have never waited more than 15 minutes to be seen. It is just really excellent service. I hope it stays this way!

I was a new patient, yet they treated me with dignity, gave me the first available appointment. I arrived promptly, and waited unusually short time in their very clean and bright comfortable waiting room. The doctor interviewed me patiently and showed sincere interest in my health issues- not just the usual superficial small talk. I've been to many doctors who can't wait to "get rid" of the patient- in and (pop) out. Here I did get some personal attention which, I must say, made a big difference. After making sure he understood well what my condition was, Dr. Klocek prescribed a medicine that improved dramatically the way I felt. I think it is a high-tech antibiotic. Made so much sense, after a 5-6 days long struggle to get better with over-the-counter pills & syrups (NyQuil, DayQuil, Robitussin etc.) I was already at the end of my hope and patience. He's the man who's helping me keep said boots on! This is a man who is super friendly and attentive. He takes the time to listen to my concerns and he addresses them thoroughly. I always leave feeling well cared for, both physically and emotionally. Whenever we have needed urgent medical attention, he has gone out of his way to accommodate us. Dr. Klocek is a relatively young man considering his level of expertise and experience. This is comforting as I figure he just might see me out. He has seamlessly adopted his practice to offer remote consultations. Recently, he moved to a new building with modern offices, not far from Ascension Seton where he is affiliated. In a world where rushed appointments and hurried conversations are the norm, Dr. Klocek is a fantastic stand out in genuine care.
