Prior to my visit here, I had an eye disease (macular telangiectasia) that went undetected. I'm grateful for the talented staff here for discovering it and the subsequent care they took with monitoring me. The office is welcoming and has a comfortable waiting area for patients. During my visits, I was seen quickly, and I am always happy with the outcome. I will continue to use this office for my eye care in the future even though it is 1,000 miles away from my home. But today's call waiting at Macula Specialists of Miami entered the third circle of hell. They thought it was appropriate to play "In the Hall of the Mountain King," one of the most stress inducing classical works ever written, from beginning to end, only to hang up on me when after it concluded, just as I was about to smash my head into a wall to make the madness stop. So I called back trying to make an appointment, and it played again. And after once again nearly losing all grips on my sanity from a misophonia induced anxiety attack, I was hung up on again. I called 4 times in total surpassing the definition of insanity and finally understanding the true definition of masochism. Of all the classical music created throughout past centuries, this torturous ode to madness is what they chose? I have since given up and have resided myself to just dying as it'll be less painful than making an appointment at this doctor's office. Ok fine. I'm being a little dramatic. I'm not dying. It's just an eye specialist and I'm gonna be fine. I'm just grateful this wasn't a psychiatrist's or a cardiologist's office! I'm sure the doctor's are lovely. I went through several tests, in between spending time at the large waiting room with TV and magazines. Finally the doctor came in, took some look into my eyes, fired off some jargonned notes to his assistant to enter in the computer, then turned to me and said, everything is fine, see you next year. I was like, huh? I expected him to spend a little more time with me, go through the results, ask a few questions. As the assistant walked me to the exit, I asked, don't I have to wait a bit? My eyes are dilated. She was like, no problem, you can drive, just wear sunglasses and got me out of the door. Soooo not true. The lights casted such big halos, and even little dots of reflection on car surfaces shine like halogen bulbs. I totally felt unsafe to drive, and ended up waiting over an hour and a half before I can drive away. The doctors may be competent, but I feel like they are just concerned about my eyeballs, not me as a human being.

When they gave me the appointment, I offered my insurance information and they told me they had everything on me; I found it incredible... I went to the appointment after asking at my job for the afternoon to be able to see the doctor... driving there, losing my afternoon of work that they don't pay me, and getting there cost me 00000 because when I got there, they told me with a very clean face that they don't work with Florida Blue Insurance... and they just said "excuse me" and that the consultation would cost me $375.00. They were negligent and you know what? That's good that happened... because that's how bad doctors must be... what they did was unprofessional and I will never recommend them... Its' so unfortunate that good doctors such as Dr raja and Dr Smith have their reputation tarnished because of the negligence of the owners of Med-Eyes Associate to implement/train a more efficient customer friendly appointment staff and respecting clients time when they do show up for their appointments.

"Warning" I do not recommend MED Eye Associates or Dr. Harish Raja in Miami, Florida for cataract…read moresurgery. When selecting a lens, I followed MED Eye's protocol and asked three staff members--including the surgical coordinator--which lens manufacturer Dr. Raja uses. None of them knew, so I asked them to confirm directly with him before surgery. They later told me Bausch & Lomb, and I made it clear that under no circumstances did I want a lens that sacrificed distance vision. I was fully comfortable using reading glasses for close up work. On the day of surgery, after waiting two hours in pre op at the "Center for Eye Surgery", I learned afterward that Dr. Raja implanted a lens from a company that had only recently received FDA approval--the RayOne EMV Toric. Even worse, he independently modified the lens to induce a myopic target for close up vision, directly contradicting my instructions. This resulted in a significant loss of distance vision. In my research, I found written guidance specifically warning against inducing myopia with the RayOne EMV lens because it reduces distance capability. Because of this error, Dr. Raja had to replace the lens--this time with the Bausch & Lomb lens I originally requested. That second complex,painful procedure lasted close to two hours, during which my iris was severely damaged. I now require another surgeon who specializes in iris repair. Many months later, I am still in the healing process and have not yet been able to undergo the repair. I am also out approximately $5,000 in personal expenses, in addition to the insurance claim submitted to my provider. I have never experienced such poor communication, disregard for patient instructions, and overall incompetence.

She's elder that can't hardly see in front of a building that is closed and is freaking dark outside!!! Who does that? I call and spoke to a lady so that she can just tell me "oh they do that. They will open soon but doesn't know at what time just that the office opens at 8". What the freak is wrong with human beings now and days!! They speak because they have a mouth but absolutely no compassion whatsoever. And who schedules these poor people. I can't imagine to how many people they do this too. To anyone reading this, go to "Eye Surgeons Associates" instead. The attention, professionalism, caring no matter which location you go to. I have been taking my son to Eye Surgeons for over 10 years and have never had a problem or let down him of any kind!!
