So this ain't no full size grocery store so if you're new to the keys and you're looking to fill your shopping cart up with essentials and then some, well, Murray's Food Mart may not be your cup of tea. And yet it's bigger than a typical gas station food mart (like Circle K or Seven-11)... but not much bigger. Main point is, if you're located on any of the center keys between Big Pine Key and Key West then coming to Murray's sure beats driving excessive milage and time if all you need is some Peter Pan Peanut Butter, Bud Light, tampons and worcestershire sauce. It was a lot closer to come here than the 14 mile drive to Key West Publix or 14 miles the other way to Big Pine Winn Dixie. In addition to the common grocery store purchases that can be taken care of at Murray's, they also have some things that perhaps aren't so common at mini-grocery stores like this. They have flowers (very convenient to get out of the doghouse without driving 28 miles / round trip). Then they have produce; not a huge selection but all the typical stuff for a salad, burger toppings and more. Not surprisingly, they have a good selection of ice creams too (also good for making peach in the household). Saturday mornings aren't complete without a cup of coffee so they do offer a coffee counter (help yourself); although I'd rather drive to Bay Point and get coffee at Baby's Coffee. Being it's the lower keys, we typically would be cooking seafood (we live on snapper and shrimp here) but sometimes (not often), we crave some beef and the closeness of Murray's is a savior. They have a butcher counter with a nice selection of meats to choose from and while at the counter you'll also find chicken and pork. And right beside that butcher counter is the deli, which is the number one reason for my visits... like many other delis, they serve up sliced deli meats and cheeses from Boars Head but it's the sub sandwiches I love at this counter. Don't know who provides the bread (of if they bake it themselves) but it's soft with a slight crust and it's makes the sandwich just right. Plus they offer a variety of side salads such as potato, macaroni and coleslaw. read more

Much needed break for food!!! My daughters were falling apart coming back from Key West, and Murray's saved me!!! With everything so expensive all around, it was great to be able to walk in to a mom and pop grocery set up. Aisles of food. Pre-made sandwiches, that the staff will add vegetables and condiments at your request. Ok. This isn't really anything to brag about on the mainland, but it was a real lifesaver for us driving back on this long chain of islands. read more

As others have said this is not your primary staples shopping trip location. It was close to the house we rented, relative to the bigger supermarkets, so we stopped her several times. The people are great. Good steaks. Fine selection of whatever you might need to fill in dinner. There is a surprising amount of higher end items on the shelves from cheeses to olives. Bread is fresh. My daughter will tell you the house made brownies are her current #1 in that sweet group. Wine and beer selection is just fine. Prices are not Publix but your time and supporting a local family business is worth the small premium. read more

I want this local supermarket to stay in business. They have a nice meat counter. The selection on other groceries isn't broad and their prices are super high. This is the place for a quick errand for a missing basic item- not to fill your fridge. read more

Murray's is a wonderful food market. I had a Cuban sandwich and my travel partner had the Italian sub. I love that they give you the fixings on the side so you can control the amount on the sub. We also got dessert--Red Velvet cheesecake and Carrot cheesecake. The desserts were huge and very yummy. I was expecting to eat my Cuban sub for two days but wound up eating it in one sitting. I wish I'd known about Murray's during my stay on Cudjoe Key. Found it my last day. read more

This is a great little market if you are on Summerland Key. The nearest large-scale grocery store is Winn-Dixie 10 miles north. You'll find a wide variety of items priced reasonably. All of the essentials are here, but you may run short of choices if you are planning a special dinner. They don't have a huge selection of ingredients, so you may find yourself making the trek to Winn-Dixie if you need something like Lowreys seasoning salt or fresh fish. If you just need bread, water, chips, etc., this place is quick, easy and hits the spot. If you have been getting eaten alive by the tiny biting gnats, they have a special spray at the end of the checkout line. I HIGHLY recommend you buy this item and spray it head-to-toe. Bought two pounds of ground beef. Little pricey until you realize how great the quality is. Wow. Week old and the beef smelled like fresh beef and cooked dark and rich. It's slightly pricey but Very convenient and friendly. Obviously the meat is completely worth the price! Thinking about it. ..I'm going to go by some more. :-) read more

Went into this store to get a few groceries before I went to the beach. I noticed that their deli was selling good boars head meat and that they would make sandwiches for you. I would highly recommend this place as a lunch stop if you are looking for excellent boars head deli sandwiches! read more

Murray's is the best gourmet grocery for at least20 miles in any direction. Just ask the "locals" - the best subs, great deli, best meats and bakery in the area, extensive beer and wine selection, all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Highly recommended!! read more

I lived on Summerland Key for 2 years, This is a gourmet store, not the cheapest, but the best. The butcher will slice your steaks to whatever thickness you want. The store is not very big, but uses the space well. Again this is a gourmet store, you can find the bare essentials, but most of their stock is gourmet. The closest brand name grocery stores are in Big Pine or Key West, depending on which way you want to go. read more

Murray's is small but they carry the best of everything. The deli meats and cheeses are top quality. And I don't know why that one reviewer said that the staff is rude. I've been shopping at Murray's for years and never had anything but friendly service. They make great homemade pies, look for them across from the deli. And if you have a favorite, call a 1/2 day ahead and they will bake one fresh for you. read more

Some of the rudest people you can ever imagine coming across in the keys. The Deli clerks act like they are doing you a favor. They huff and puff while they are working because they are just miserable. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, and avoid being treated rudely. read more

OK where to begin. The place has great food and subs. The prices are very high though. I wouldn't mind paying more but the problem is that the workers are soooooo rude. I swear you must have to be a nasty rude person to get hired there because from my experience every person that works there is rude. Even new hires start out friendly and then become rude. The deli people are the worst!!! I'd rather go to publix for some friendly subs. I am local but when friends visit I always warn them of the rude people in there. Great local grocery with delicious sandwiches, excellent meat, and freshly baked breads and desserts! Nice spot to pick up lunch for the boat or items to grill including sides. It's pricier than a larger grocery and the sandwiches take a few minutes but only because they're higher quality than what you'd get elsewhere. GO TO WINN DIXIE. I'm a local and have been here 3 times. Each time I get attitude but this time my friend overheard it which prompted me to post this review. Service is terrible and food is not worth the price. Roast beef had green highlights and macaroni salad was more like macaroni soup. Yuck! Apparently they don't need the business so I won't miss it. Winn Dixie is not that far from it and worth it it in every way. Murry's acts like they are doing their community and clients a favor and it shows. Very disappointed and won't miss it. read more
