Underwater art museum! This is about the most inconveniently located art museum I've ever been to. The only parking is thirty minutes away by boat. You gotta dive thirty feet underwater to see any of it, and all the art is all wet! Wanna get a photo of the sculptures? There's a good chance there's a fish that's gonna photobomb your shot. This place is hilarious! The art is poignant, creative, and fun. It's all lifesized sculptures of things like cars, people, and a bar scene. There's coral growing on the stuff, and fish all around. The sand is a light white, and the water is so blue and warm, it's a great place to check out some art. It's such a cool perspective to be able to circle around and see the art from all angles, even above or below with your ability to swim all around it. It's really fun to see the art this way. You don't have to dive with the museum itself. You can choose any of the dive companies, since there's no private property out in the sea, and anyone who knows how to operate a boat can take you out here. Diving was great, and visibility was par enough to be able to clearly see all the stuff underwater. The waters were choppy, which made for some currents pushing and pulling underwater, but it's a shallow dive and if anything goes wrong you can always just ascend to the surface from such shallow depths with much worry about anything going wrong. In two dives, we were able to take in about a dozen different sculpture displays. They're all near each other. read more

Everyone did an awesome job! In addition to the water being stunningly clear, the sculptures were equally as beautiful. My friends and I took the tour while on vacation, and although we had not gotten previously SCUBA certified, we were able to take a crash course the day before. Our instructor, Najeep, was excellent and I never once felt unsafe. He kept us calm and cool while at the same time allowing us to enjoy the underwater world! Remi was the amigo who drove the boat out to the Museum and Reef and he was so helpful and happy. He helped us enter and exit the water so our instructors could help us while we were in the water. It was well organized, yet at the same time, very chill and fun! The price was great as well, we were able to get two dives for about $130. I don't know the pricing based on the season or the difference in prices based on what tour you do (glass bottom boat, snorkel, etc) but I will tell you that it's worth it. You will only get to do this once, so grab the bull by the horns and jump in--flippers first ;) TIPS AND TRICKS: * There will be two things you'll want to "splurge" on: $10 wet suit (you'll get a gnarly tan line but no rashes from the gear) and the $45ish red filter for your GoPro (if you have your own). It will bring out the reds and yellows a lot better and make everything seem less murky. * They do bring water aboard, but no snacks. So grab yourself some peanuts, chips, and granola bars--you'll be SET. * You'll have to rent/borrow/buy your own flippers and mask before you get there, so just keep that in mind. * ¡Que tengas divertido! Fun and beautiful! We took the snorkeling tour, the tour lasted about 4 hours. There is only one departure per day (9:30am), one important thing, on top of your tickets, there is a USD$10 dock fee per person, which is a government tax they have to collect before letting get on the boat. The boat ride to the site is about 45 minutes, the staffs super friendly and nice! One thing I must say, the sea is kind of rough so prepare yourself if you easily getting seasick, there were about 25ish people in our group today, some people got quite seasick that they couldn't even get into the sea to snorkel by the time we got to the MUSA sites, so get yourself a pair of motion sickness wrist bands or take some motion sickness pills before you go! The trip stopped at two different sites, first was to see the underwater sculptures (more rough sea), second near Isla Mujeres (calmer sea) to see corals and fish. I think the the price is quite reasonable. I must say since we were snorkeling with life jacket on, we could only see the sculptures from up top, not very clearly, if you want to see the details of the sculptures, do the scuba diving your instead. Sun Screens are not allowed at this trip because they are harmful to the reefs, so if you are sensitive to the sun or easily gotten sunburns, you may want to wear long sleeves water gears! read more

This underwater museum is spectacular.. This is one of my favorite dives to date. We used scuba Cancun for our boat ride and master dive. We spent 48 minutes exploring all the statues which are of various parts of world. We saw a lot of aquatic life while we were there. read more

This was an experience. It was amazing to go and see the statues underwater. The tours are not short and you get food included after all that swimming. Only reason I gave it one less star is because some people who are on the tour might not know what to expect. It is ALOT of open water swimming and you have to take into consideration the current. Some guests who are a bit advanced in age and maybe not too fit would do well to re-consider. I saw a few have to sit out the rest of the tour stops and remain on the boat, and some that had to be picked up by the guide because they couldn't keep up. Its an amazing tour, but you definitely need to be a capable swimmer to enjoy it completely. read more

We took a snorkeling trip here at the end of April 2016. The sculptures are hard to see but if you take off your life vest you can swim closer to get some better pictures. The water was really choppy over there but it was a really cool thing to see. Our tour also includes snorkeling by the reef which was smoother water and better visibility to fish. read more

They canceled my tour the morning of and didn't even email me to tell me. I woke up early and took the bus for 10 miles to get there. And when I arrived they told me the tour was canceled. No apologies or offers to do another tour for the same price. Don't use this company unless you want them to ruin an entire day of your vacation and not give a single crap. read more

Went out scuba diving with Sea hawk divers and did a Musa museum/reef combo. It was really neat to see the museum and the marine life that was growing there now. The dive is shallow so you could see it if you snorkel as well. But the water is very choppy due to the winds on this island so it can get a little rough for snorkeling. read more
