6/8/24: During our first trip to Cancun, we stayed very close to this place. We wanted a bite to eat, so we figured this would be a good option. We went inside and were greeted immediately. They were pretty dead, so we thought our service would be quick. It wasn't. We were sat at a dirty table with sticky/mildew-smelling menus. I wanted to leave, but my fiancé wanted to give them a chance. I cleaned the table myself. The server came to take our order & it eventually came out as requested. I ordered chicken strips thinking it was a meal that couldn't be messed up. They had no taste at all. None! My fiancé loved his burger and ate his fries and mine. The chicken went to waste, unfortunately. All in all, it's an ok place to try if you're looking for American food. I just didn't enjoy my experience. When we left the restaurant and walked towards the street near the ice cream shop, the photographer from this restaurant ran after us and asked us to buy our photos. She was so far away from the restaurant & I was shocked that she followed us just to make that sale. My fiancé felt sorry for her and bought a photo and let her keep the change. Pityful! How can this franchise even hang on? Obviously by a very thin thread. I'm a pin collector since 1997 and a HRC fan. I was last here in 2019, and wanted to see how they fared during the pandemic. Badly! It wasn't worth the $14 taxi ride. They have a huge guitar outside the Forum shops that says "we are OPEN!" but are extremely overshadowed by Coco Bongo. I had to look for the location of the HRC deep inside. First stop was the rock shop, which you have to pass thru to get to the cafe. T-shirts were in the $35-$40+ range. There was no size selection. In one style they had only small. In another style they had only XL. The hoodies were $60, and again no sizes. I saw XL and XXL. There was an employee behind the counter and I looked into the glass for pins. None! I asked where the pins were. He replied "you might find some at the hotel." I told him I didn't collect "hotel" pins and walked over to the cafe "entrance." A guy had his back to the wall and there was a podium behind a rope. Umm... the place was empty, as the rock shop had been. If they are trying to give it an exclusive touch by having a rope in place and then being allowed inside, it is an epic fail. I didn't bother. Save your taxi fare and skip this location. read more

My bucket list is to attempt to visit all HRC locations!! So, I'm now crossing off Cancun location! I'm a fan of the franchise and history of the music. I've been to over 50 HRC and each one is different. I don't put much emphasis on rating their food versus legitimacy of the restaurant, I view the establishment as a museum with choices to drink and eat reasonably. It's only a matter of time before Planet Hollywood closes its doors ending the silly "copycat" attempt at HRC. read more

I would definitely skip this place . Let me tell you why Pros: Friendly service Outside seating overlooking the beach Unfortunately that's where all the pros end. Cons: The food was bland and reheated. I ordered a combo appetizer with chicken tenders , southwestern egg rolls , onion rings , toast with bruschetta and hot wings . The "toast" had toaster marks but was soft and soggy no crunch at all. The chicken tenders were crunch but absolutely no flavor at all . I also ordered a milkshake that came out room temperature. The staff was very nice and polite but the food would be much better if it was made fresh and some kind of seasoning . If your looking for American food in Cancun skip this place all together it's not worth the money you will spend. read more

I should have read the reviews. I'm not sure if Cancún restaurants are trying to scare off tourists or steer them to all inclusive resorts but prices of sit down restaurants are outrageous. I paid $175 for 3 burgers, a salad and 4 drinks (1 alcoholic) after including a mandatory tip which I had no discretion of. This is American dollar conversion not pesos. They also advertise a horrible exchange rate of 14 pesos to the dollar. The food was good but the restaurant was hot. There was a band there that was doing a sound check for about 30 minutes. Alcoholic drinks used to come in a real glass that could be a collectible. Now it's a ridiculous 2 foot long plastic tube that looks used and you get to take it home. read more

Very disappointed! The store has limited merchandise. The cafe has no AC only fans to ventilate the place. I ordered a drink to purchase a souvenir glass. When the server brought me my drink it was a regular glass. I asked about the souvenir glass and he said they did not have any. They recently opened after being closed due to Covid. He stated they have little to no merchandise but the menu clearly promotes that they have everything. For being such a famous chain worldwide this is unacceptable for false advertising. As far as the appetizer we ordered, the nachos were ok until we realized they were soggy due to them adding whole soup beans instead of refried beans as nachos are common served. Came in for dinner as had a discount coupon. We were seated straight away which was great but everything else was disappointing. Ordered drinks I got a diet coke in a can which was warm. For our meal we had the chicken quesadilla which was cooked well and nachos. The nachos was very disappointing hardly Ny topping on them. The air conditioner was hardly working, the wifi didnt work at all. The waiter was abrupt with us and had to do the tip while he was looking at us which we found quite rude. Steak tastes weird and ranch dressing for salad tasted bad, shake tastes strange I was hoping for American tasting food and not the case, host was very friendly and staff was but food is crap and overpriced. I've been to many Hard Rock's in different countries and in Florida and I will say this is the worst one I've ever been to not sure about the stay here I see the reviews are good as far as staying at the hotel I'm sure that's good but the food experience not good. My son and I stayed hostage for 4 hours at the Hard Rock Café in Cancun (I am saying hostage because they did not allow us to leave), as many of their employees tried to force us by psychological pressure to buy the membership of this Legendary Club. It all started when we arrived at the airport in Cancun, as we're leaving the airport we got stopped by a pretty young lady dressed in uniform asking what hotel we're going to stay, and if we've arranged transportation?... As soon I prompted sharing the name of the hotel we're staying she offered to help and took us to a booth introducing to a person| Hard Rock Café agent that told us that yes we had transportation as part of our hotel reservation and someone should be waiting outside of the airport with a sign with our names on. I don't have to say, it was a lie. No one from our hotel was waiting for us outside. At the same time the agent started to ask questions if we've been in Cancun before? If we're planning to do any excursion during our stay in Cancun? I genuinely responded that we're planning to go to Chichen Itza, and also to visit Isla Mujeres; so he pulled out a map of the city and started offering excursions for a very low cost, but saying that in order to get these ticket's discount the only thing we need to do it was to schedule a visit to the Hard Rock Café Hotel to check out their brand new facility as they we're trying to promote the hotel for new prospectives visitors, he also said that he was giving us a complementary breakfast during our visit and free round trip taxi transportation from the hotel we're staying to the Hard Rock Cafe. It all sound too good to be true but I decided to take a risk anyway since the cost he was charging us for the (4) tickets was $40 and normally it would cost $300. But our nightmare only get started when we arrived for the visit at the Hard Rock Café two days later... As soon we got there a friendly associates welcomed and took us to the "meeting | breakfast room" and before even letting us serve our breakfast, one of the Legendary Club sales person asked me to show my credit card and ID information, I brought only debit card with me and refused to give the information to them, I got very impatience and frustrated and I asked what is this about? I made very clear to them if that was about time share I had no interest to buy one; as I was getting ready to get up and leave the room, the agent said if I leave the room the agent from the airport was going to be penalized with a charge of $200, I was pissed off and said I did not care, it wasn't my problem...I was in vacation, I did not have a minute of my time to waste with them all. So, I got up and I was getting ready to leave the room when another agent stocked me asking to be a little bit patience and to hear what he had to say, he apologized for his colleague and invited us to serve breakfast inviting himself to join us at the table. As we're eating, he started his non stop 90 minutes sales pitch...Please don't ask me how I went from leaving the room and staying there to listen this guy trying to rip me off...I just don't have the answer. These people are so well trained to brainwash you, I am a very sharp woman but they know how to trick and manipulate your brain. This is a MAFIA and they know exactly what to do and how to do pursuit anyone. After listening this agent for more than 30 minutes, I attempted again to leave, to be told he could get fired and loose his job if I did not allow him to keep his sales pitch and give us the tour of the hotel facility. I am a good person, and I would hate to see the guy loosing his job so I kindly said fine, give me a tour as fast you can and get me out of here. So he showed us around the hotel facility as he kept talking about the benefits to become a member of this exclusive Legendary Club, I asked him a few times about the cost and he told me he did not know the price so I asked how do you want me to buy something if I don't know the price??? And he finally took us to the other room packed with prospectives Legendary Club Members buyers and also many more sales agent from the Hard Rock Café. The place was loud, and every time anyone sign a deal, the sales agent stopped the room bringing a bottle of champagne with candle lights announcing the new member name very loud and asking everyone to clap for them. It felt like a ritual made to impress the other prospectives around the room that was also suffering with the same amount of pressure to sign the deal at the spot. Now, I'm wondering if these deals closed at the time was legit, or it was a farce. I just don't know the answer. read more

Save your Money and don't come to this place. I went there back in Sept of 2017 and did not like the food. Poor quality. ! Not to mention the murder that just happened on their grounds and clearly played with the family members' feelings by asking them to come in to discuss insurance details and then brushing them off, trying to sweep it under the rug. read more

Like all of their Hard Rock café locations I have been to, the Cancún location was just as wonderful, professional, and great service. The staff here were friendly, prompt, and very professional. The food was delicious as always and the atmosphere was amazing. What I liked about this location was that the music was not too loud but at a comfortable volume level to where I could actually have a conversation with The friends I was dining with. Clean facility and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. read more

Be careful coming here. If you're not 18-25 and drinking, they don't seem to care. Maybe you need to be drunk to eat here. We ordered the loco coco burger. It's meant to be a burger in coffee grinds and cooked to caramelize. We ordered medium rare. Where to begin... the hour we were there, there was a sound check. Kid you not, a drummer and two guitar players banged and strummed. No real music, just a loud racket with "check check," said a thousand times. Our food... burgers were cold in the middle (raw,) with two slice of cold yellow American cheese and bacon that was thick and over cooked. Then a slab of the butt end of lettuce folded on top. Nothing on the meat to flavor it, no grinds of anything, just an attempt at a grill mark. It was awful! The service was, at best poor. Don't bother!! read more

We went here on a Sat night and they were basically empty. That should tell you something. I was surprised at first but after we had our meal I wasn't surprised. The burgers are gross. They don't look like beef and definitely don't taste like it. The peso conversion was only $14 pesos to $1 American. Terrible. If you want to get ripped off....go to Hard Rock. One thing I can usually count on is a consistently good burger at Hard Rock Cafe's around the world, but this one sadly did not live up to those standards. It is partly my fault in how I ordered it. I asked for medium, but it came out too pink for me so I sent it back. The burger was then cooked better and not overdone. However, there was a lack of flavor with the meat itself that is usually not something that I find at HRC. In addition to my burger, I ordered the Sangria which was very good. We collect the t-shirts and shot glasses, so had to make this stop during our vacation. We usually also get pins, but they were completely out of Cancun pins. They had Puerto Vallarta, which I thought was a little strange. They mentioned that the Hard Rock Hotel (which was at the other end of the Hotel Zone) might have them, but we did not want to take the taxi ride to find out. While they did give me a 10% discount for my All Access Pass, I was told that I could not accumulate or use my points since they were a franchise. This is not something I like about HRC. Some places take it, some places don't. All in all, this visit to HRC just wasn't up to the usual standards. I would probably give it a 2.5 stars if possible. read more

I always think of the Hard Rock as a staple when I travel because it's almost always consistent no matter where you go. Of course, I need a t-shirt from the city to add to my collection as well. This location gets only three stars, because I didn't think that it was as good as most HRC's that I've been to in the past. Our waitress was 'nice', but hardly exuberant and I've always found the service to be both very good and entertaining. She was not up to par in my opinion. This location didn't sell the collector pin's that my wife collects wherever she goes, and that too, was a disappointment. Of course, you go for the food. Mine was good, a solid B-. I ordered the Hickory BBQ burger with no cheese. Mine came 'medium' as I ordered it, and it was good, except for the really fatty bacon. It was maybe just a little too saucy too, but that's debatable. For me the true test of a good place to eat, is do I really want to go back again the next time I'm in town...I could take it or leave it at this Hard Rock, so that's why I'm only giving it three stars. If I don't go back the next time that I'm in Cancun, I won't feel like I missed anything. read more

Where do we start? The menu had limited (expensive) options and the exchange rate is worse than other restaurants. Our burger was mediocre, the fries were greasy and the salmon and broccoli were just not the business. The nachos were delicious and the pineapple margaritas were good too. A woman came by the table and made us balloons at no cost and asked for tips--I felt that this was unnecessary. We came for dinner, not to be hassled for tips. Food was typical Hard Rock fare, so nothing special there. This is the ONLY place on the planet where they keep the LOUD house music BLASTING while the band plays. Since it was an AC/DC clone band they had to play LOUD, rather than well, in order to compete with the continuous house music. The band should have been insulted they had to play in that fashion. The waitress did not 'understand' the problem with the band competing with the house music. In order to get the check and get the hell out of that nasty place, I had to use 'sign language' to request the check as my yelling into her ear could not be heard over the cacophony. read more

The dishes were a little pricey, but that's normal for a Hard Rock Cafe. Disclaimer, this is definitely not the place to go if you're looking for traditional Mexican food. Yep, I visited the Hard Rock Café twice now. I'm completely ashamed to admit it, but the truth is out there now. What is it they say, "the truth will set you free" or something like that? This is a straight-up tourist trap for narrow-minded gringo tourists, for certain. If you can't be bothered with trying something off the beaten path or a more "authentic" experience in Mexico, then why not settle for the tried and true and well-known Hard Rock Cafe? Sure, why not. Like other Hard Rock Cafes around the world, it's consistent and the people working here are usually friendly and service is mostly prompt. You know, the Hard Rock chain, like most franchises, has standards that must be adhered to and the like. In other words, this Hard Rock Cafe is strictly a burger, fries and beer type of establishment catering to typical American tastes. It's clean, the service is friendly and courteous and the price is not out of this world. While I honestly don't care too much for these types of over-hyped establishments, I found this one to an okay place to eat and grab a drink while on vacation. Food was consistent, but a lot of the items on their menu is not exactly what I would order any day of the week, if given the choice to dine at a popular chain burger spot or a locally-owned restaurant. Nonetheless, having bit the bullet by going to the Hard Rock, I can say that my food was decent, but not great, both times I dined here. Drinks from the bar were better, with tasty margaritas coming my way all night both times I stopped in. Good service is essential in the tourism/ hospitality industry (it's the bread and butter, for the most part) and this Hard Rock was solid in that respect. The food hit the table in a timely manner and drinks were always refilled without hesitation, with our server checking in on us often. I think the food is a little overpriced for what you're getting. Essentially everything on the menu is frozen or from a box and it tastes like it. The French fries taste no better than Ore Ida frozen fries from the grocery store, but it is not like they tasted terrible. They just tasted like something I could easily heat up in the oven any night of the week. On the other hand, my salad had pieces of wilted lettuce interspersed with the better stuff, along with the most pitiful tomato in the world on top, but my veggie burger (the Veggie Leggie) was alright, but nothing to write home about, although the fixings on it were pretty good and appeared to be very fresh. Another night, I had the Twisted Mac & Cheese, which was better than the burger and fries. It wasn't the best mac and cheese dish, but it'll do. The noodles were cooked perfectly and it had plenty of cheesy action going on to make me happy. The spinach and artichoke dip was pretty cut-rate, kind of bland and boring. In other words, what I could make at home for pennies on the dollar costs considerably more because it was from the legendary Hard Rock Cafe. Just remember, you are paying for the name, the brand and the novelty of it, not for gourmet culinary expertise. Leave that to a fine dining establishment. And yes, I got suckered into buying one of their stupid t-shirts. Shame on me. I couldn't resist the lure of a silly souvenir. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but it was one of the worst hotel experiences ever. The only reason it gets one star is for the beach. The hotel services were horrible. The design of the hotel was not well planned out. They have a theater where they have kids club disco's and dance party's and if you are unlucky enough to get a room on the bay side of the hotel (which half of them are) there will be no sleeping for you until after 12am or 1am because it is so flippin loud. We called for housekeeping one night and after one hour no show we called back to see what the hold up was and they said they would call, I said, "Didn't you call and hour ago when I called and the response was, I will call now. After 30 more minutes, still no housekeeping. I heard some noise down the hall (very common here, a kid screaming bloody murder). I walked down the hall and found two housekeeping women chatting. There was also someone who looked like a manager and they were all talking. I spoke to the guy who looked like he was a manager and told him that I had called housekeeping an hour and a half ago and he asked the two housekeepers if they would help me. Finally 15 minutes later those two housekeepers came to my room with clean sheets. Then half way through them making the bed another housekeeper finally shows up nearly two hours after I called to change the sheets. I told her the other two housekeepers were almost done and she could tell her boss I found these two in the hall and they helped me. The worst service and hotel ever. You can here every sound in the hallways outside your door. The management and front desk and concierge service are soso at best. Spa services and area was subpar. They sold us cabana space on the beach for 150 points plus 20% tax, suppose to be relaxing right? Wrong! They stuck us right next to where they were using a chain say and hammering on two broken cabana's. No relaxing on the beach for us. It was a construction zone and one of the workers kept looking in at our cabana. We picked up all of our things and moved to the free seats on the beach. This place should not be in business. This was a horrible hotel and a horrible experience and huge waste of my hard earned money. One good thing is we now know to never spend another dime with Hard Rock. HORRIBLE!!!!! read more
