Dinner and a party to kick off our time in Mexico...so much fun!!!! Flawless from start to finish as we boarded a bus for an hour ride to our boat. Checkin was smooth and easy, bus ride great, a 5 minute walk to the boat to an unforgettable evening. It is a tight fit as we all sat closely around the table in the middle of the boat. Food was served, conversations and entertainment flowed all night. Between dinner and dessert we were up dancing. After dinner, we got off the boat for a 10 minute restroom break before continuing down the river. Very well organized!!! It was a party all night long! Food was incredible! Service and hosts were top notch. Organization of the evening made it go by so fast. About 3 hours were spent on the boat eating, chatting, dancing or playing games. The experience is entirely in Spanish, so as someone who isn't fluent in Spanish, it may not be as enjoyable if you don't understand the history of it all. Lol. The boats are so beautiful at night, all lit up. I've been to the real Xochimilco in Mexico, which isn't as pretty and clean as this adventure. lol. Lots of drinking on the boat is encouraged! My son was given water in a warm cup and not medical attention until I became hostile. Medic came and took my son to a dark area to evolute him outside the Punic area. If you don't care about food too much and you're looking for a booze cruise, then this might be for you. Lots of beer, lots of tequila, and lots of shots. The entire tour is roughly three hours long and you're on the boat the majority of the time. I would highly recommended to bring bug spray or to spray it before you get on the boat. I wasn't thinking about mosquitoes at all and got bitten quite a few times. The boats all have different names and have different decorations. They are super cute. During the tour, you only get off once or twice so that they can clean, refills items, and give you a chance to take a bathroom break. The basis of the tour is that you're supposed to ride the boat around Mexico. You discover the different types of music and cuisines from different regions of Mexico. The first round of food was just appetizers. They give you pork rind chips and tortilla chips to use for the various dips that they provide. Then they bring a main course of different proteins cooked in different ways. Then the final course was different desserts. The dessert was definitely disappointing because most of the it was not any baked or cooked desserts. Most of it consisted of candies you can certainly buy for cheap from a local grocery store. The tour could be improved to make it better for english speakers who don't understand spanish. Although our guide spoke english, it wasn't great because the humor from when he spoke in spanish definitely didn't translate into english. The tour did start off fun, but it was just too long and we were just tired by the end and wanted to get off. I do believe that the website is misinforming. It says that the minimum age is 5 years old but this is more adult themed with all the drinking you can do. read more

I'd highly recommend this experience when in Cancun. There are certain experiences that you will likely never experience anywhere else in the world and this is probably one of them. We were picked up from our hotel at 7pm by a bus that was filled with maybe 50 people all heading to Xoximilco, so the vibe was super party like. We were all allowed our own boats (more like gandolas) and we're on our way. The boat had a couple of hosts who were super talkative and inducing a party vibe. There were a bunch of beer, paloma and tequila. They started us off with some appetizers and the boat kept going through some canals. En route they stopped by boats that had a live mariachi band in them. The boats probably spent 10 mins or so by the mariachi boat and we all got up and danced. Around an hour into the night, we stopped at a dock and some women came and loaded up our boat with food. The food was not bad for something that was like a pre fix menu. In another hour we stopped for a bio break, there was more music and dancing. When we got back on the boat we all had plates filled with Mexican sweets. We played a few games including the one where we held hands and got light electric current passed through us (yeah you heard that right). The experience lasted 3 hours and we probably passed by 4-5 boats that had bands/ mariachis playing. By the time I got back on the bus, I was pretty drunk and slept through the journey back to the hotel. Definitely a night to remember. read more

Definitely highly recommend when your in Cancun!!! Good for any celebration, birthdays, anniversary etc... or if you just simply want a good time! We were celebrating my birthday and were with other groups celebrating birthdays as well. Me and my honey were the only non-spanish speaking, but Ivan did a great job translating everything! We were on the boat Tlaxcala. Highly recommend Ivan! we had a blast! Theres music, food, dancing, tequila, soda, snacks. Its classic mexican food, I liked it. We went in the afternoon since the night time was already full. The only thing I would suggest is maybe put some lighting underneath the floors on all sides of the boat to ward off mosquitos when it gets dark. I really wanted to do the night time, but im kinda glad now that we did the afternoon. Definitely put on mosquito spray on your exposed skin especially when it gets dark. Also, I suggest wearing light colored clothes, preferably white since mosquitoes tend to be attracted to darker clothing. Overall what a great experience!!! Would definitely come back again! I started not to go, something told me -"just go!" I'm glad I did, it was all of that! The concept is a brilliant tourist activity, even locals were there with their families! Floating boats on a river making different stops along the way while listening to Mexican tunes and enjoying different popular foods. You don't actually get off the boats, but you do stop to hear various Merachi bands play-it was awesome! There's a host on each boat, they play icebreaker games that'll keep you laughing and taking shots all night. I had A BALL! Never had so much tequila in all my life LOL. Approximately 6 hours, It didn't feel like it since I was enjoying the night meeting new people, dancing and laughing. It is family friendly, kids are welcomed! read more

I really enjoyed going to Xoximilco. It would have been nice to actually see Xoximilco during the daytime as the premises was very dimly lit at nighttime. I paid extra to have "professional" pictures taken, but after receiving the pictures, they don't look quite as professional AND they plaster their logo on every picture they took, so I highly suggest not to get the picture package. When I purchased the admission package through the Xoximilco website, I also included pickup from my hotel. The pickup experience from the pickup location was very easy and stress free. Due to the fact that we are in a pandemic, they did spray hand sanitizer on my hand multiple times, as well as spray the bottom of my shoe. Also, I showed the "tour guide" my passport, credit card, and voucher from their website. They only accepted originals of your ID and credit card, so make sure to bring the originals. If I had to do it all over again, I'd bring another ID so you don't have to carry around your passport. My passport was my only ID so I had to show them that. We were driven to Xoximilco which seemed to be around 45 minutes. The tour guide basically walked us to the boat. This is also the time where I bought the photo package. When I got to the boat, there was definitely more than 10 people on each boat, contrary to what the website says. It is basically a party for 3 hours, so make sure you can drink. I drank quite a bit of tequila that night. The food wasn't so great, so don't expect it to be anything spectacular. The first round of "food" includes a side of crickets, which I definitely did not eat. Once the 3 hours tour is over, I walked back to my shuttle where they took me back to my hotel. Overall, I had lots of fun, although the next day was a little rough, a sign that I definitely enjoyed myself. read more

NOT for gringos. Great for alcoholics who speak Spanish. It is ridiculous when you pay for entertainment, yet the passengers are asked to tell jokes and stories to amuse the other passengers. Six bottles of tequila later, everyone else on the boat had a great time. 1. When we registered, we spoke in English, and the manager said to the woman at the cash register to put us on an English speaking boat. 2. We spent over two hours on a boat that only spoke Spanish. 3. After we left the boat, we found the same manager and told him we were on a Spanish only boat. He said that was a mistake. We gave him our ticket information. He said he would ask about a refund. 4. We never got the refund. We did NOT receive the service we were told - to be on an English speaking boat, but their customer service refuses to refund us, so we opened a dispute. read more

This boat party begins at 700pm so make sure you eat before you come because they will serve you a platter of different tidbits of food from all over Mexico and you will be served a platter of sample candies as well. ***There will be a big bottle of mosquito repellent lotion available to you by the restroom as soon as you arrive. I advise you to use it. Better safe then sorry! You will board a boat with 20 other people. Our boat was called VIVA CANCUN. There are about 20 boats with different names on it. (Look at pictures provided). By the end of the tour, you will know everyone's name. Our host Paulino made the experience very fun while Sebastian was steering the boat. You will be spending the whole night on the boat eating, drinking and partying and interacting with the other people on your boat. Paulino played fun games so you can get to know the people on board and played drinking games. There is an open bar with beer, tequila, vodka, sodas, and margaritas. The host encourages you to drink your heart's content. There are 2 phases to the party madness. The first phase is where you have a light dinner with snacks and the host is explaining the parts of food from different parts of Mexico. In the center of the plate, you will find roasted crickets, yes roasted crickets. I thought they were messing with me u till I saw them in the center of the platter. Then the boat will stop so you can get a 10-15 minute bathroom break but make sure you return within 10 minutes or you will be left behind. The second phase is entertainment and you are encouraged to dance on the boat. The boat goes through the canals and each stop will have different live Mexican music. Had a phenomenal time on this excursion, and would definitely do it again/recommend to those who are visiting Cancun. We visited with our family of 14 (mix of teens & adults) back on August 4th, 2023. Our boat was Viva Xplor Fuego and our guide was Giovanni Cruz who was INCREDIBLE. He was charismatic, humorous, kind, and provided our family as well as other guests on the boat a great time. We appreciate you....GIOVANNI, GIOVANNI, GIOVANNI (the chant we did for him on the boat)! I think he needs a raise because he was truly the life of the party!! We still talk about him even almost a month after the trip. I will say be prepared to dance, have lively music around you, and depending on the time of year you go..SWEAT!! Even though it was a hot August night, the experience we had made it worth it. All individuals of our party from the youngest of 12yrs to the oldest of 60yrs had a wonderful time. The food & dessert was a nice portion as you get to sample everything. There is also non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks aboard the boat for guests to chose from. This is a night time excursion and offered I think every day of the week except on Sundays. This is a night party atmosphere so this is something to keep in mind when traveling with young ones, and there is also the presence of alcohol, but we found it appropriate for the group we traveled with (however, if we had younger kids this might not have been the first choice of activity as it is also long--I think roughly 3-4hrs from hotel pickup, the boat ride itself, and drop-off back to hotel). The atmosphere wasn't a problem for us even in spite of most of the family not being alcohol drinkers. We were just fine :) Pro tip: we carried handheld fans and this helped to combat the heat. Also don't forget to apply bug spray. Also need to recognize our boat driver Tirzo who rowed the boat all by himself the entire night and had good charisma. As well as the van driver from the hotel and back Juan. Lastly, Miguel (drink refills) as well as Itzel & Idalia who were the primitas who came on board to bring the food and clean up during the excursion. Great service all around!! Had an amazing time at Xoximilco! The food was good although I would have preferred spicier. Not mad though because I know they have to cater to tourists from different places. The service was nice because you have a stop where "Las Primas" bring you your meals. As you are traveling down the little lake, you make stops and have live music played by their Mariachi, Bolero, and Cumbia groups. There is a stop where everyone gets off and is able to use the restrooms. Despite there being a lot of people, I didn't have to wait long to use to restroom. There's a little shop to browse and buy souvenirs if you'd like. When you go back to the boat, they have an assortment of desserts like candy, flan, and chocolate at your tables. I think the highlight of it all was the entire ambiance and vibe. Our host Juan was super nice and funny. The entire trip is about three hours and I think I spent all three hours laughing and smiling. There's a ton of drinks and Juan had us all introduce ourselves to each other, like a type of icebreaker. If you're on the shyer side, this might seem uncomfortable. But to be honest, you probably aren't seeing this people ever again so why not have some fun with it! I danced, drank, and had a great time! I'd go back for sure! read more

Xoxilmico was a great experience, a fun Mexican fiesta!!! It felt very magical seeing all of the beautiful lighting and reflections on the canals from the trajinera. Definitely a magical moment we will never forget! The entertainment was the best! From Mariachi, Bolero trio and Marimba.. You truly got to experience the true culture and food of Mexico. Right down to fried grasshoppers which is a delicacy there.I was not brave enough to sample them, but the rest of my group did and they said it was quite interesting! It was open bar with tequila, beer and sodas. Tickets were around $90.00 per person and it lasted about 3 hours... One of the best excursions we have ever done on our many trips to Mexico! read more

Was the highlight of our trip in Cancun. It is a must if you want to try different food and have a good time. Make sure you bring bug spray.

I really wanted to love this experience but too many things were off. The musical performers were absolutely phenomenal and I have no complaints on that end. The hosts were also fun. We were EXTREMELY disappointed with our experience and believe we were mislead about what the tour entailed. We were promptly waiting at our pick up location at Las Perlas Plaza in playa del Carmen at 18:30, and we're not picked up until 18:52. We were stranded in the heat, with no place to sit or with any shade. We attempted to call customer service but were placed on hold for over 15 minutes. By the time someone answered, the bus finally showed up. The bus was barely air conditioned, and the entire ride to the tour was bumpy, and legitimately made us nauseous. Additionally, there was no indication on our tickets that the bus ride was 1.5 hours long. When we finally arrived to Xcaret, we were expecting carnival games and activities, as described throughly on their website, and advertisements. We were disappointed to see that this was not the case, and we did not get to play any such games, nor was there any type of carnival setup. As if this wasn't all annoying enough, I noticed I was sneezing the entire ride over to the park on the bus, and when we were about to board our boat, realized that another passenger had a dog with her. I am EXTREMELY allergic to dogs and would not have even thought twice to worry about this for a tour that includes food. We were made to change our boat FOR A DOG. A dog took priority over two paying customers. WHY IS THERE A DOG AT A FOOD EVENT?! Don't get me wrong, I love dogs as much as the next person, but when you're allergic to so many breeds, it can make things miserable. This was just completely unsanitary, unhygienic, and I am certain it is a health violation. The food provided on the tour was not sufficient for the price of the ticket. We were starving by the time we got off, and still had an hour ride to go. We had to get food at 1am as our dinner. We found this entire experience as completely unpleasant, and not as advertised. A night full of waiting in the heat, sitting on a bumpy bus for over an hour, sneezing and breaking out in hives because of a dog, having to switch groups because of a dog, and food and experiences that was nowhere near the type of cuisine described, is time wasted for us and an entire evening of our trip that we cannot gain back. read more

This place did not disappoint! Excellent time with Paulino! We had the transportation service pick us up and get us there from resort. A bit of a wait time once we got there but finding that is typical of these excursions. The ride there is always a little late to the resort. Once we got on the boat and the tequila started pouring and I mean pouring the festivities began. Not for kids!!! Your appetizers are blah, the food was okay but the deserts were interesting. If you came on this ride for the food, you screwed up. It's good to have something on your stomach though as once the party and dancing begins, the drinks start going down easier. Tight squeeze with 22 people literally side to side but a great time. Every time you pull up to a musical boat, those guys are singing their hearts out. If you are looking to have a fun time with friends and get to know other people this is the place to go. I personally would not recommend this place for children only because there is a lot of people drinking. If you are the shy type and do not like being around a lot of people I would not recommend. This is the second time my husband and I go. The first time we went it was only 2 couples and we made friends with another couple. This time around we were a total of 18!!! All long time friends. When we made the reservation we all made it at the same time upon arrival we made sure to let the main staff know that we were all together that way we were all put together. We got the excursion with transportation and let me just tell you that it is worth it. You don't have to worry about finding a taxi that will overcharge you or have to worry about finding a way back to your hotel. The boat ride is about 4hrs long but it doesn't feel that long there are different things going on and while you are enjoined your time you are drinking. They have tequila, vodka, beer, water and sodas (incase you don't drink) our guide was very fun and made sure we were having a good time. If you don't speak Spanish don't worry they speak English as well. During the tour there is only one stop for the bathroom. It if you bed an " emergency stop" they will stop for you to go to the restroom. I would highly recommend it if you like to meet people and drink. For the women a good tip is to wear your hair up because it gets hot and take makeup if you like to retouch. Note: the food they give is more for tasting different dishes from a variety of regions from Mexico so don't except to eat a full course meal (eat before you go) read more

Don't go here if you don't speak Spanish. This was one of THE WORST experiences I have had in my life. We were ignored, left out, and made to feel like a burden. The food is questionable at best. Even the guacamole looked like a pre-packaged guacamole that you can buy on at the grocery store. For a theme park so well known to tourists, it was disappointing to find that we wouldn't be included in the fun. Other boats yelled at us and made fun of us. Xoximilco has got to be the greatest freaken attraction to visit in Cancun!! You must not miss this! This attractions begins at 7PM and you are placed on a Canoe type boat with 18-20 people. Amazing, amazing fun. What a night. We were very leery of this -- it seemed cheesy and not our style. Then we read a bunch of reviews on trip advisor and skeptically decided to try it. It's hard to explain how it feels as the energy builds. Great regional samplings of food from around mexico, lots of tequila, singing with your boatmates, amazing tour guide/pep-squad leaders, regional music from all over Mexico, an ongoing history lesson, learning Mexican tequila-drinking toasts "arriba, abajo, al centro, pa' dentro!". Seriously, this is not a must do if you are near Cancun. You are on a boat, they provide you some Mexican food and you can have unlimited beer and tequila (it's not Sierra, that's the good part). But besides that nothing special happens. You cross the sea several times, pass some music groups, okay some were really good, and you are forced to scream Mexican phrases from one boad to the other. Except of "Can you say this, can you say that" nothing really exciting happens on the boad. You will be ask to do crazy dances in the front of the boad or do some games, which might be fun if you are really filled up. Overall if you like this kind of entertainment it's worth a try, at least once, but it's not a mandatory must do on your Mexico checklist. read more

Xoximilco was a great experience. We were a group of 3 and decided to take the Spanish language boat. One of our friends was the only non-Spanish speaker of the boat and had the time of his life. Our host Miguel (Papah) and Gil were professional, patient, and super cute. Miguel did a phenomenal job going back and forth from Eng-Spanish explaining everything and entertaining us. We were set up with food from different regions of Mexico, drinks, and amazing music from the 90's (OV7, Cristian Castro, Enanitos Verdes). Shout out to our boat XEL-HA and the cutie on the double bass! Xoximilco fue una gran experiencia. Éramos un grupo de 3 y decidimos tomar el barco en español. Pick up from our hotel was at 3:20PM the best perk of staying at the hotel si transportation goes straight to the tour it doesn't stop to pick anyone else up besides those staying at hotel Xcaret Arte. In my case we went straight from the hotel to Xoximilco it was about a 45 minute drive from the hotel. Upon arriving we were seated and then lead to our boats. My biggest complaint is that it is HOT!!! So bring a fan or something! Also i would say dress light but there are A LOT OF MOSQUITOES!!! They do provide repellent but come prepared. I would also say eat before. I watched a YouTube video to see what to expect on this tour and I noticed the food portions are SMALL! So we made sure to eat prior to coming on the tour. They start you off with a plate of dips with chips and chicharrón. To drink they have soda, beer, aguas frescas, and lots of TEQUILA our guide tried to find any excuse for us to take a shot. Our guides name i think was Carlos he was awesome and we were paired with some fun people. The food was okay nothing super wow again can't emphasize enough eat before you come. The music was great but you only stay long enough to hear 1-2 songs before you have to move on. Overall it was a fun experience, I don't see myself coming back tho on my next trip to Cancun only because of the heat, mosquitos, and the food. If it's your first time it's worth checking out! The experience was fun with comedic guide, mariachi music, and plenty of drinks and dancing. My wife and I took part during our honeymoon trip to Cancun. Unfortunately, unlike the resort, they don't seem concerned with the health of their guests. They packed us in like sardines shoulder to shoulder on a tiny boat for the duration and the following couple days both my wife and I had fevers and horrible diarrhea that left us glued to the hotel bed for the rest of the trip.
