However, when we met up, she had nothing prepared to show us besides photos we had already seen on her blog (where most photographers showcase their best work only). Despite reservations, due to her seemingly friendly demeanor, we hired her anyway. We realize in hindsight that this was a great mistake. The engagement photos were very repetitive, without creativity, and lacked variety. The Korean wedding ceremony photos were, however, the greatest disappointment, as this is an occasion that can never be redone. Her photos did not capture the best moments, were not edited well, and the majority were framed incorrectly. Although she stated she would give us an extra 30 minute grace period on our ceremony, when the time came that an extra 15 minutes was required, it seemed she did not want to live up to her word, and as a result the photos came out looking very rushed. She even admitted to rushing the photographs when I expressed my displeasure with them. In addition, she was very defensive and unprofessional in her email replying to our issues. Her work ethic during both our sessions was not the best. At times, we felt as if she were counting down the time until she would be done. Furthermore, during her contracted time for the ceremony, there was some downtime, which she used to talk to guests instead of taking more shots. When I asked her about this, she stated she did not want to be rude, however, as a paying customer, I do not feel it is a photographer's job to spend 15 minutes making conversation instead of working. When we saw our galleries online for both sessions, we were very unhappy with our photos. Her photography/editing shows she does not have a creative or experienced eye- the end outcome just did not look professional. Bonnie told us she comes from an architecture background and had just entered photography full time recently. Unfortunately, this shows in her work. She asked us beforehand to make a list of essential photographs for her, and despite us doing this at her request, she did not give us all the shots on the list. To make it worse, she misplaced an essential photo of our immediate families (bride & groom side together), despite us having taken it that day. Overall, we do not feel she works well behind the camera- she lacks the expertise required for great photographs and the know-how to give direction to those being photographed to obtain optimal shots. Due to this, there were odd angled photos and important relatives cut out of ceremony shots. Even basic portrait shots were framed incorrectly and had individuals looking elsewhere instead of the camera, with some individuals covering others. Looking back, we only wish we had asked to see full galleries showcasing her entire body of work. Bonnie's blog only had select shots and did not represent her work as a whole. In the end, we could not justify the cost for the photographs she took. For someone who is a relatively new photographer, the price she charges does not accurately reflect the finished product. Her cost is as much as or more than some professional photographers with more experience and more diverse portfolios. I would advise anyone considering Bonnie to request permission to see entire galleries of her work (she has them on smugmug with ORIGINAL SIZED files) to see if it lives up to what you would want captured. If we had seen these galleries beforehand, we would not have hired Bonnie. I would also advise reading her contract very carefully before signing... After being left with photographs that we were not proud of nor felt that we could cherish, we contacted Bonnie and after lengthy, burdensome emails back and forth, were able to get a partial refund along with the unedited pictures. While we felt that Bonnie was initially very responsive when there were no issues, when problems arose, she became much less responsive. Despite us asking her for a specific resolution of the original photos multiple times, she took a considerable time to deliver (~a month of grief after being newlywed, which we did not feel was a great experience as she responded below). In the end, the original photographs she finally sent us without the editing were very dark. Almost all of the photos were taken with the incorrect exposure and eventually had to all be post-processed privately. Although Bonnie was eventually willing to give us a partial refund and the original, unedited photos, the original work was unsatisfactory. Given that we could do it over again, we would have chosen a different photographer to capture our special day. Due to our awful experience, we do not recommend Bonnie Sen for your photography needs. We had another photographer for our American wedding, and the experience was like night and day.

I hire photographers left and right for different shoots we need, and she is by far the most responsive, creative, enthusiastic, flexible, friendly photographer I have worked with. And to top that off, she is very talented. When we were in a bind and another photographer cancelled last minute, she made herself available at short notice and even turned around the proofs MUCH quicker than normal (which is unheard of with most photographers), because we had a last minute project come up. She charges a reasonable price compared to other photographers as well. A few of my friends have had their weddings shot by Bonnie and they have been featured in high profile wedding blogs and the photos came out stunningly! I wish I knew about her work when we got married because I would have hired her in a second. She also takes direction very well. I have found that some photographers, don't really understand what you are looking for, and after the shoot is over it is too late. We had some feedback from our CEOs on one shoot, and all I had to do was pass along the message. She gets what we are requesting very well and translates it to great shots. She works great with you giving a lot of direction, or none at all. She really adapts to what your needs and style are. Now many different people in our company and my friends work with her and they are all too have been very happy with her work and positive demeanor. Besides working with her professionally, we have hired her for our family shots for years and could not be more happy. We always get compliments on our photography and I always refer them to Bonnie because I know she will take care of the people I care about. Actually, my friend is having a baby in a couple months, and TODAY I referred her to Bonnie.

First, we were late (I still haven't figured out how to account for DC traffic) - Erin was very nice/gracious about it. Then, each of my siblings and I had specific ideas in mind and were fairly demanding about what we wanted (4 adults who all have their own taste/thoughts = a lot of discussion about what to do or not do). Erin stayed up-beat and had great recommendations when people got stuck for poses or couldn't agree on what to do. Finally, she did a great job touching up the photographs for small errors such a bra strap showing or puffy under-eyes in the close-up photographs. I would recommend her to anyone looking to get a family photo-shoot. She has the perfect attitude for handling demanding people and she gets great shots.

I appreciated that there was a lot of communication and support leading up to shoot because I had never done anything like this before and was pretty apprehensive. Amanda (the photography assistant) was the first person I encountered. She was so helpful and made sure I was comfortable. I also found it impressive how easily she anticipated the needs of my photographer, Jenny, throughout the shoot. They worked incredibly well together. My hair and makeup artist, Joie, was so fun and had great energy. It really was the best way to kick off the shoot, and I felt so good after she finished up with everything. Finally, Jenny was an incredible photographer. I was so worried about posing and my pictures looking too staged, but she really took the time to show each pose first (with very simple instructions to follow), which was very helpful. I never felt rushed, and she got some really amazing shots that I thought looked natural. As a whole, they all hyped me up and made me feel so confident and sexy. Truly a great experience. Even my reveal session was amazing from a customer lens. Cynthia showed me my pictures and was so patient while I tried to narrow them down. She gave helpful advice when asked, and I left feeling like I had a solid set of pictures picked out (though it was hard to narrow them down because there were so many great ones). I responded to an ad on Facebook for a discounted shoot, hoping to use the images as a gift for my…read morehusband. I spoke with an associate on the phone, she walked me through the process, told me pricing started at $950 and I wrongly assumed that much money would pay for digital images. After I paid a $200 non refundable deposit, I saw a price sheet that spelled out the specifics for keeping my images. Very expensive and very few digital images are included unless you spend thousands of dollars. I couldn't justify the cost of the experience for only keeping one print so I cancelled. If you're looking to do this only for the experience, I bet it would be amazing but I was hoping to keep the images as a gift.
