We had such a fun experience at Muse Paintbar! Our instructor Gary was incredible , hilarious with the dad jokes, and super supportive of everyone no matter their skill set. He was really informative when it came to showing us the steps. I'm not naturally good at art, but he made me feel confident in what I was creating and kept the whole atmosphere light and fun. He also took the time to chat with us and get to know everyone, which made it feel really personal. The best part? He surprised me by letting me take home a free painting from the celebration box for my birthday which is such a thoughtful touch! You can order food and drinks right from your table, which is convenient, though I'll admit they're on the pricey side. Still, for the overall experience, it's worth it. We laughed a lot, had a blast painting, and left with art we were actually proud of. We'll definitely be back! read more

Fun experience overall, but there's a logistical downside to be aware of. If you plan to do anything else at Patriot Place after your session, you'll need to carry your painting with you; there's no option to store your work. My daughter and her friends ended up bringing their paintings along to dinner and even to a bar where they had reservations, which was definitely inconvenient. Given how much there is to do in the area, it would make a big difference if the business offered a simple storage solution so customers could enjoy the rest of their night without worrying about damaging their artwork, especially for those without a car. read more

They have two studios within the building, ample parking in the main plaza, and very accommodating staff who will provide direction and support throughout the entire painting project. Overbooked the event, could not seat us, and refused to refund the $140 we paid. This is extremely disappointing. My friends and I are visiting for the holidays and were excited to see that Muse was advertising 4 open seats at their 7pm paint night. When we arrived, however, the staff seemed to have no idea that we were booked and when we showed them our email confirmation they told us they had no seats available for us and had overbooked. They mentioned they may be able to set up small folding chairs in the corners of the room (all of us separated) for us and then said they had no aprons. Totally get it, this stuff happens. We asked for a refund and they said they can't issue one at the location but to reach out to customer service. By this time the event had already started so I assumed that was why they made this request. When we contacted customer service to explain the situation they REPEATEDLY told us we were not qualified because we "chose to cancel" which felt really frustrating when we so obviously did not have a real choice. A number of emails was sent back and forth to no avail. I hate to leave a one star review but I genuinely feel as though this company stole that $140 from us and has the audacity to refuse any responsibility. Ultimately this was a major disappointment and a huge waste of money. read more

What a wonderful time and fun experience! Went recently for the paint your pet night and the teacher was phenomenal! It must be hard to support 30 people doing different paintings but she looked and sounded like an absolute rock star. I was also super impressed with how many people they had around to support us as needed. The drink options are great and the food is tasty! I was impressed with this Paintbar especially considering Covid regulations / safety , think its one of the best ones I've gone to being a Paint Bar Hopper Art enthusiast. The Halloween theme was Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas mixed with " The Scream", which was a cool theme ..not a mundane vase of flowers that you might see hanging in a Dentists office . The instructor was also friendly , had a sense of humor , easy to follow the step by step instructions , was knowledgeable in painting but also didn't take it too seriously since it's supposed to be a fun day out not a portfolio for an Art College . The assistant was attentive with checking on everyone but also not overbearing with it got the idea and didn't try to pressure piece to be identical to the painting , also friendly and warm , enjoyed the exchanging of the few words . She was also attentive with taking orders for food and drinks , considerate they they had that available during Covid, painting can definitely work up an appetite . The place was very clean including bathrooms, spaced out and lots of fun paintings from actual artists..not mass-produced paintings , looked like an actual Art Studio not an office which was appealing to . Last night my aunt and I were out having dinner and spending time together since I only come up once a year to visit. We were walking around patriot place and I mentioned I had always wanted to go to a painting class type of thing. Let me tell you it was absolutely an experience I'll never forget. The environment was beautiful and cozy. There were paintings from previous classes all over the walls (even in the bathrooms). The aprons were even personalized to each being there own (mine had an elephant!). They sell alcoholic beverages, duh its a paint BAR, but if you are A) underage or B) you don't drink, they have nonalcoholic beverages as well. I had hot cocoa. They also had some finger food you could purchase so you could snack and paint, it was very delicious. You also can request songs they play while you're painting. Now, the good stuff. The artist who fought the class was named Andy, he was super funny! A little bit of adult humor. And he was very thorough. And if you needed help he was helpful. I had never painted at one of these things before and I was very happy with the way everything turned out. I would definitely come back to muse in the future! If you have read this far and you're curious about pricing, it depends on the class you take. But its usually ($$). Which isn't bad since you're paying for the canvas and the artists time. Fun night. Went on a Saturday night for a 7:30 paint night. They had the room separated into 2 classes. The room was extremely cramped and difficult to move around or even stand back and see your painting. The instructor was excellent, easy to follow (when you could actually hear her) and very friendly. Found the music to be way too loud and at some points when the instructor turned the music down to talk she couldn't be heard over the crowd, a microphone would have been helpful. The other class ended before ours, so having handfuls of people trying to move around the already crowded room and opening the door to 15 degree weather was not pleasant. When our class ended there was a rush to the ladies room and hand washing station, the staff was trying to reset the other room with blank canvases etc.. no matter where I went I felt like I was in the way. By the end, we couldn't wait to get out of there. Overall we had a blast, but this place is way to cramped which put a damper on the experience. Our next paint night will be somewhere else. read more

Had a great night last night! It was our first time we were a group of six and really enjoyed ourselves. The instruction is great I'd say just the right amount that keeps it fun because let's face it this isn't a class at RISD alright. Only issue was the paint was out so long it made it clumpy and a little hard to work with. Our instructor Rachel kept it fun and the music was very inspiring lol! The beer and wine selection is awesome and really reasonably priced. The light bites are great for this place, you really only have time for small finger foods while your work is drying here and there so it's all good. Cheese and crackers and bruschetta were our snacks of choice both were great. Overall we had a really fun time! I would for sure be back to make another masterpiece! read more

I went here tonight on a Groupon with my friend for paint your pet Pros: the illumination is a great way to try to paint a picture of your choosing - they provided smocks and basic colors to start - the place is nice Cons: the artists running it are no help. They have a very hippie approaches teachings the class. And I was told " good job " so many times I felt like a toddler. I was really hoping for some technique but more so felt rushed to finish in-preset times - the batteries or the lite that is necessary to see the photo guide went off about 20 times and I had the keep looking for an artist in chart to fix it pushing us further behind the timed session - omg expensive food and drinks $10 for chips and guacamole - probably won't go back to this location read more

This is essentially two separate reviews. Five stars for the painting experience and instructors, 3 stars for the bar/food and everything else. First, the painting. I've never done a paint night before and this place specializes in it. It is an excellent group activity, open to even the least artistic people. I do enjoy art, so I guess I appreciate a bit more. The instructor was very friendly and made it simple to follow the steps in creating the painting (when the 2 bachelorette groups weren't screaming over her). You can free form of you want or add your own twists to the painting. Each paint night, a different picture and level of difficulty is available to do, so multiple trips would not be redundant. Unfortunately, the sipping part (drinking) was lackluster. They don't have a "bar" per se, but a counter where they serve a select number of bottled beers and wine. No mixed drinks. The food options are very limited, too. I was going to get the assorted cheese plate, but was told they were out of all but one type of cheese. How are they out of a primary menu item at 8pm on Friday? I settled on chips and hummus, which I'm positive someone just dumped out a bag of smashed Stacey's Pita Chips and Sabra Hummus into a basket. What was not their fault was some woman who decided to go into the men's bathroom for 10 minutes and then exit, clearly hammered, leaving pee all over the toilet seat. First night drinking? Overall, definitely a place to check out, but maybe have a few drinks before going. read more

The Foxboro location has great instructors, the studio is clean and welcoming and the food/drinks are always good! OK so this is good for people who are beginner painting. or group of ladies who like to drink while painting. The subject for this class was a landscape with an ocean scene and Sandunes. The ladies next to me were definitely drunk halfway through and the painting was extremely easy for me. I wouldn't categorize this as an art class I would categorize as Group activity. Painting pots or clay sculptures are harder than this, and there's more variety you can choose what you want to paint. Suggestion: maybe have different level classes. they do have the teacher on a pedestal but it's not always high enough for everybody to see, maybe show samples around or have more staff walk around. Need longer tables, One of the ladies drop there drink , they jam six to a table. Not everything has to be a rectangle Canvas, maybe different shape canvases or different objects. read more

I feel bad needing to rate this only a three because I do not think this was any fault of the establishment. This was my first time here and I do not want to write it off yet. I was there and there were two VERY loud groups painting on this particular afternoon. I am all for having a good time and enjoying the moments at a paint bar, but these individuals were down right rude. The poor instructor was trying to gain command of the room but the unruly bunch was making it very hard for her to do her job. The instructions ended up being broken, shoddy and hard to hear. Again, to no fault of the instructor or the establishment. Thankfully my friend and myself are familiar with painting techniques and are confident in our skills, but others in the room you could tell were lost and needed more guidance. I would like to try again here, hoping in the future it was just a bad day and the two unruly groups were a fluke. **PLEASE INVEST IN BETTER PAINT. Your purple pigment should not have the issues that it did with sticking to the canvas.** Best of luck in business! read more

Not impressed to say the least. Staff offered little to no guidance. Room was full and noisy. They needed to project more or use a microphone. My cousin asked for help choosing a background color and was treated like an idiot. An hour and a half into the session we went for drinks. None came with the price of admission. Disappointing since other places cost less and include a drink. We ordered and were told the kitchen was closed so no food. I noted to the guy working that there should have been a notification that they were closing the kitchen. He acknowledged that had not been done. Lastly, staff were wearing the same smocks as participants. There should be a way to properly identify a staff person rather than a fellow painter. On a positive note, Rachel is an amazing artist, willing to take the time with each person to help and is a true asset to Muse. I chose Muse to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. I'd never attended a Paint Night before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. My experience exceeded my expectations! Our group was seated together, enabling us to socialize as we painted. The pace of the evening and the instruction was perfect. The bar choices were fairly extensive (wine and beer, no mixed drinks), and everyone found something that was a favorite. I'm picky about food, but the munchies were tasty and portioned for sharing. Our instructor Rachel was super fun and helpful and really emphasized making the painting your own and not worrying about making it perfect which made it all the more enjoyable. I'd definitely go back again. My only recommendation is to eat beforehand because seeing everyone else with their snacks makes you hungry but the food is slightly expensive. Always an excellent time! Great time for a date night of a different kind, or a special occasion, or (like me) to do something fun and hone my new found artistic skills. Great for kids and adults. My first time was just 12 months ago, I stopped in on a whim...been hooked since. Let me stress this...it's a total NO PRESSURE ENVIRONMENT! The teachers are very talented, skilled, and understanding. They walk you through everything, start to finish, in a patient and methodical way. Everything from mixing, to technique, to personalizing it to your own tastes. I have been to 3 in the Boston area (Patriot Place, Assembly Square, and Lynnfield) and found all have he same feel and inviting atmosphere. Personally I prefer Patriot Place as that was my first and it is closer to home...and all but 3 of my 28 painting to date where done there. Although Muse is focused on novice painters, they are super supportive for those with more skills. I personally have been painting my own things for well over 6 months now and still I get awesome support and help as needed. I figure I'd pay the same, if not more, going out for dinner and a movie but with Muse I go home with a work of art...MY work of art! Last night (as part of a bachelorette party in the private room) I attended my 2nd paint night experience. (The first being at the Muse location in Providence) - this review is for the Patriot Place location. The night, over all, was fun. We all left with the finished painting. I take my issue with some of the actions of the instructor. She was certainly friendly and enthusiastic, however, we are paying you for your time and attention - and at several points she left the class and left us to try to figure things out for ourselves when we had questions that went unanswered. Her first absence was because "I need to go eat my dinner" and then various steppings-out to seemingly chit chat with the girls behind the "bar" while we tried to figure our way through our paintings. She would also leave the class without turning the music back up (she would turn the volume down when needing to give instruction) and this led us to having to play music off of a cell phone - coming out of the speaker...of a cell phone. Hoping they see this review and coach their "Muses" to eat prior to teaching so we have the full assistance that we've paid for - especially since the establishment gets $450 for the use of the private room and there were just 7 of us) This differed from my Providence experience where our instructor left us only once, briefly, seemingly to just use the bathroom - otherwise we had his undivided attention. read more

As usual, my experience at Muse is superior to all other painting venues! The instructors at Muse are amazing! While I often "doy own thing" and improvise with my paintings at Muse, the person teaching actually does the painting pictured in the advertising. I was at another paint event earlier this week with another painting company, and the instructor didn't even come close to the original. It was really lacking. Also, the order of things was off, and I improvised and the person teaching totally​ ignored me. This kind of thing is never the case at Muse! Muse encourages unique expression, the instructors can all paint the actual painting, and the order makes sense to get the desired outcome. I've become a better painter overall in the past year plus of regular Muse paint nights. I love this vs a "lesson" in painting because while I learn, I get a painting out of the experience. Even if I don't love all my paintings, and even paint over or throw out some after deciding I'm done with them, the fun I have is well worth the cost. Art isn't really his thing but once he got started painting, he just went to town and created a beautiful painting! He even said he wants to go back again!!
